KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

  • Doing another carboot this month. Did one last spring after a big clear out. Somehow have managed to find over 100 items big and small to try to sell. Can't believe there's still so much given my kondoing efforts last year and at least monthly drop offs of big bags at charity shops. About a third is toys but the rest is random stuff that must have been lurking in cupboards or the loft when I did my previous big stuff. Very strange.

Got my Dad to part with some of his hoard as well for the car boot. He was motivated by the promise I'd donate the proceeds to a charity he supports. Not sure there's a massive market for old electricals, half burned candles and slightly chipped china but I'm hoping to be proved wrong. :rotfl:

I have permission to donate/recycle/chuck any of his stuff that doesn't sell and will do the same with my unsold kipple. So hopefully if I'll make a little money :money: And we'll both have slightly clearer homes. :T
  • 22 magazines recycled for a total of 103
Another book finished but it's a keeper :rotfl:

If it's any help, I'm doing the Mins game on things that are over and above the usual rubbish and recycling tasks. That's
stuff that's hung around in invisible corners and settled in
items my ex is bringing back from his late Mum's before it settles in
Things I had as stock from vintage fairs.

Sadly, I haven't had the results of my MRI scan, was hoping to kondo that. :(

The decorator starts work in 16 days. I want it to be as uncomplicated as possible :D

I never understand the half-burned candles, or the weird-coloured ones at the charity shops (usually 2 in a package, so clearly a donation from an individual). If you don't like them, just light them!

We seem to be acquiring more at the moment. Several colleagues are clearing out their children's toys, and ask if I want a few items. How can I say 'no' to full Playmobi1 sets, Techni.cs like toys, puzzles? I'll have to clear out my dds' toys, too!

  • Just heard from Ziffit to say my cash is on its way. :j

They only rejected 3 x 30p items so I am very happy with that. Must confess that I didn't check the disc condition on any item, there seemed so many that I just focused on checking the right ones were in the right boxes.

Anyway, £17 up so I'm happy with that. Off to DD's in a bit to see what else needs doing there, then working the weekend as usual, but will bob in and out where possible, as this thread is so inspiring.

Keep up the good work, I am continually motivated by everyone's successes. :T

  • Managed to sort out my craft cupboard today, got rid of a wooden box that had 'stuff in it' as well as other scraps and yarn. I've used old shoe boxes to keep the yarn in that I am keeping. Could do with going through my knitting needles, ...

I am really carp at this...in amongst the detritus of DS2's wedding were spare truffles and dirty tea-towels that had been used as napkins...we have bagged up the truffles to share amongst the neighbours, and one of them helps run a soup kitchen so a big pile of (now clean) tea towels re going to him, along with two marrows wombled from the glut table at the allotments.

I also have to own up to bringing home more rasps (jam), half a tree of greenhouse basil (drying), some toms (butties!), a carrier bag of elderberries for wine and a calico bag full of mixed crab apples (jelly) & sloes (gin) foraged from a place which shall remain secret ;):D Now going to Asdat to purchase said gin lemons and sugar!

3 mags from a hidden corner
3 pieces of fabric and a snowstorm from the ex's parents house
1 book to the charity shop bag
1 CD to the sales pile and the news that the buyer can visit next week :D
111 out of 496; also generating a decent amount of paper recycling which I'll count per waste paper basket.

Not much leaving at the mo!
Had delivery of two comfy dining chairs for my others were wicker and prone to plucking. I'm keeping them as I have 4 more in garage, and are needed at Xmas time luckily they stack so don't take up much room.
I'm still kitty proofing the house and have decided to unplug the dvd player as we never use it .
Only dvd s we have are disney:rotfl: and dgson is not that interested now he's getting older he watches films a lot at home with his mum. I'm tempted to release the dvd player ,I will have a think on it.
Yesterday was spent tidying front garden. Everything is growing like wild fire .hope all are well ,have a good weekend. Wort x
