  • I am very pleased with my efforts today - hall cupboard sorted out, 2 large carrier bags at the side for the CS, and a bag of several borrowed books back to a family member. Also sorted my ebay listings as I said before, putting some of what hadn't sold in the CS bags too.

Threw out an old pair of slippers (need new ones, wearing flip flops at the moment) and an old pair of trainers from the hall cupboard that I didn't even know I still had.

  • Thanks GQ, it's nice to know that it just isn't me. Weird thing is, I used to volunteer at that particular branch, when I used to do shift work near to there and I can honestly say, it was run better even if the place was a bit ramshackle.

Anyway, now I give to my local hospice charity up the road and they seem to be much more on the ball and plus its local.

Work day for me, so paid work done. Also kondoed a cardboard box from a delivery into the recycling and a pile of 'free' magazines went into the lobby to see if any one wants them - if folk don't pick them up they will get recycled pronto by the cleaner.

On the subject of c/shops, last week I actually saw some donations being handed back at the point of donation because the shop staff 'didn't think they would sell.' Not quite sure what I think about that, seems a bit blunt!

:) I really like my local SENSE shop. The volunteers are lovely, they play the coolest music in the shop, often classic rock tracks, the prices are extremely reasonable (it's a deprived ward) and many of my own clothes and housewares come from there. They're always very appreciative of donations and I separate out worn-out clothing and household textiles for their rag merchant, so they can just chuck that bagload into the hopper without having to laboriously unfold and check each item.

Have just been watching a series to TED talks on zero waste which is inspiring. I may have to glove up and stage another intervention at the communal bins, the amount of stuff which should be in the recycling which isn't is a scandal. I'm not the only busy-body who quietly and informally does likewise, either.:rotfl:

Heading out to a pal's now for a knit & natter (except I'm taking my WIP rug) and may be gone for some time. See ya tomorrow. GQ x

Looks like its common problem with Oxf*m. Have to say up until the management change I didnt have a problem . Got emails form Oxfm to say how much GA they had got from my stuff and could track the points on Nect*r website so I knew the system worked. Didn't get to CS today but next time I am in there I will make a point of saying something.

Had a paperwork day today - no reason other than I was sick of seeing a large box of the stuff trying to hide behind an arm chair :) Lots in recycle.Lots filed and plenty in log burner for next fire :) Last tricky bits to file now so taking a break and will continue after dinner.

WM has been tripping the electric :( OH says he will look at it later tonight - thinks it will be tomorrow now as he has been out all day pursuing extreme sport hobby and is now asleep on sofa

Hello KM buddies, I'm back! Have missed you all. We have had a week in wildest Wales and were off-grid completely.

Rather little kondoing going on, for obvs reasons. Kondo'd a book - left on book shelf in self-catering cottage for someone else to enjoy. About to move on to volume 3 of series of 7. Read some of them years ago whilst suffering illness but there was a long gap between publishing the last volumes and I wanted to read them in one go.

Very busy week, with lots of commitments lined up. Some not too happy but looking forward to lunch with good friends on Friday. Working 2.5 days in between. Intend some kondo-ing but most joyful will be the 3 HUGE bags going to sil on Tues for carboot!

    Enjoy sunday,

    Morning all

I did say at the beginning of the week that with the boss on leave I'm uncovering her job and mine which means lots of long days so no Kondoing for me. I have however kept up with your posts. Mr VP was also admitted to hospital this week. He's home now though.

I'll be doing a large kondo job today on the glass jars in the garage. I was given 4 large carrier bags of apple's yesterday so will be making a variety of chutneys today. Some will be for us and some will be for Christmas hampers.

Eldest DD Kondoed her paperwork yesterday which has been in a large box and has been moved up and down the country to and from uni several times. I have put a box of our paperwork together for Mr VP to sit and sort through when he's feeling up to it.
  • I found my storage closet floor today (yes it had not been seen for some time) with a few hours of work. Lots of things out and an entire large plastic storage box full of mostly paper items gone through. Almost all went to recycling. A few things rehomed.
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Looks like lots of places now beginning to 'stop' taking stuff for recycling - our local council recycle centre no longer takes printer cartridges:mad: I have always taken the laser jet cartridges from work along with our own ink jet ones.......but no longer and cant find anywhere locally to take them:o

On a different topic but related....next week there is a beach clean up campaign in our area - not sure if its a national one. There is a growing and worrying problem with marine pollution especially from plastic - every bit of plastic that has ever been made is still in existence:( I spent the summer doing my #2minutebeachclean every time I was out for a walk! If you live by the coast then check it out even if you only visit a couple of times a year! Kondo for marine life and the environment!! Actually just stop using single use plastic containers - bottled water, coffee cups and plastic stick cotton buds - that would be a start:D
