    Good evening All

I'm going to jump right back in and re-do this.. I did it a few months ago as me and my ex had spilt but he still lived here, I sort of followed the Konmarie method but around the situation... my ex finally moved out last Monday, and now that my house looks tidy again, I can start to actually do this properly!

I will start with my clothes, but will do it how I did it last time, I turned all the hangers around and wore them all.. it was easier to decided how they made me feel in them... not allowed to wear anything again until I've worn everything in that category once, I have everything washed ironed and put away - so this starts tomorrow! Shouldn't be too many to go as I did my clothes before, but I have got to maintenance in weight loss now so some are probably too big now!

In all honesty I need to actually buy new clothes, but when I have tried them on they didn't spark joy so haven't actually bought anything yet, so at least that stuck with me!

It was a pleasure to put away my holiday clothes into the newly kondo'd drawers. All now sitting in rows of kondo folded neatness :D:D:D

I have a bit more work to do in the dressing room / study / library that is my back bedroom (:rotfl:)
I am itching to do it but idealy will set aside a whole day to give it the final fix. It is vastly improved from the room of doom it was at the start of the KM journey :) but I want it 'just so'.
The orange 'dragonware' tea set has been bugging me for a year. It is very garish but somehow so cheery too. The porcelain is very fine and it weighs nothing! I have checked online and find it is worth little, being mass produced tat :rotfl: but I still couldn't part with it during KM round one.

It was a gift from my grandma, although she bought it cheaply at an auction donkey's year ago so not particulalry sentimental and anyway, what is the use of it if I have never taken it out of the
cardboard box it was packed in 25 years ago (see newspaper used to wrap individual items!)?

Today, as I was putting clothes away, I just looked at the box and thought, 'That has to go, it is really annoying me'. So, I shall offer it to my sil for her carboot extravaganza or for her to fleabay!
Oh, it feels so good to have made that decision

Forgot to welcome new comers to the thread. It's great to hear how you are doing!

DH and I collected several items of litter last week as we walked in beautiful Wales, although not necessarily on the beach. I simply cannot understand why anyone would drop litter in the otherwise pristine countryside. Well done all those public spirited folk doing the clean up :T

Great tip about replacement knob for pans, GQ, never thought of that!
I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
  • Re printer cartridges, there are several charities where you can recycle inkjet cartridges but I have not been able to find anywhere that recycles laser printer cartridges - I have just ended up putting them in the bin.

I am trying to cut down on cling film, I use plastic containers as much as possible to keep stuff in the fridge. I've also got a brilliant silicon mat thingy, shaped to look like a poppy but they do sunflowers and various other designs. It can go over bowls, in the microwave etc and has proved really useful, not cheap but I intend to get another one as its so handy.
Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.
  • I now have several shelves in the storage closet that a completely empty. What to do, what to do...
They are making me nervous because I think I should be putting things on them.
A great problem to have! :D
Overprepare, then go with the flow.

:)mila, if any of your people originally hailed from the Dorset/ Somerset borders, we may well be distantly-related on the distaff side. Actually, given the number of ancestors each living person had, and the fewer people alive back then, more of us are related than you'd believe possible. Hiya, Cousin! :D Mind you, I suspect Mum may also have squirrell DNA, which I seem to have inherited.:rotfl:

Re empty closet shelves, can I baggsy some of them? I just checked this morning and the party-wall-o-damp has spread into the second of the two 3 ft wide wall cupboards which make up my 6 ft wide kitchen. Which means, mes amies, that this morning's first post-breakfast task will be to empty the food stored in there into more shopping bags on the sitting-room floor.

 All because my s.o.d of a neighbour won't co-operate with our mutual landlord about getting a plumber in to repair their leak. Which is incredibly foolish because, ultimately, they will change their locks, go in and do the repair anyway, and bill them for the lock-change.

If the damp continures a couple more feet, it'll be in my sitting-room. I'm angry enough to spit tacks and can hardly wait until office hours so I can start bending someone's ear about this.

    :o and breathe.

  • Morning all

    Hope everyone is well

GQ grr at your neighbour for being so pigheaded and not allowing work to be done, hope it gets resolved ASAP

    Mins game day 19
I've misplaced my book I'd write items in so far but I know at least 30 CDs got put into the CS bag over what I'd already mentioned on Friday night before it got put in the car so I'll count those as today's items.

Going to make a cuppa then kondo the ironing pile while listening to some music now, have a joyful morning all.

:j Wa-hey, housing officer now down here and has spoken to me and to the other party. Water leak is actually coming from the flat above their flat and through their ceiling where it abuts my party wall, but they just didn't bother to report it for weeks or respond to attempts to contact them, so nothing got done. Housing officer now trying to get in touch with them upstairs.

Never live in a flat if you have a choice, lovely peeps, it's a PITA.

Righty, my food is now in crate on the sitting-room floor and the disorder has spread to the bedroom (where I emptied things onto the bed to get a crate, lol) so it's the gift which just keeps on giving.

This one will run and run, even if the leak is repaired in the next day or so, I can't recupboard Stuff until it's dried out in there, and I am growing some interesting varieties of mold, too.

;):p Everyone should have a hobby.

Waiting for a surveyor callback but if I haven't heard in the next hour or so, I shall be heading up to the allotment anyway with the mobile to hand.

:) Because I am a firm believer in trying to make something good out of a nuisance, I will be taking the opportunity to eat down some of the canned goods which are heading towards their best-befores and will re-stock with fresh when I have the use of my cupboards again. I may even, once everything is thoroughly-dry and de-molded, paint the walls behind these back-less cupboards as they're getting a bit stained and grotty looking.

Time for another cuppa, I think. Have a good day, folks.

  • I don't drive, but as DH's car was MOT'd last week, I decided to give it a long awaited clean out. Hoovered, washed, waxed, and all the carp brought out - 2 x UK atlas books to CS pile, CDs back in their place, rubbish in the bin. There was a spare car mat, so chucked one of the dirtier ones away. I am very pleased with my efforts, as is he.

I haven't read the last posts, because I am a bit upset. I already knew there were some major changes going to happen at work, and this morning I have been informed that 8 of my colleagues (out of about 90) have been let go (I was going to write 'kondoed', but it was too harsh, I could not make that joke). They did not know until this morning, and rumours are rife, people are talking in all corners (we have quite a few). This includes a direct colleague, which is a shock, because I like her, and in past reorganisations our Department was 'safe' (read: hardworking and already understaffed).

  • Siebrie I'm so sorry to read about the situation at your works. Very upsetting for all concerned.
