KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Well my motor carriage is fit and well. And it is at present being washed and vacuumed. They'll bring it back, so no need to go out.
I've washed towels and bed sheet and cleaned floors, so am feeling virtuous. And listed a few more bits on the Bay. But there's still lots more to do. I think I've got the hang of not buying anything other than consumables, but there's still my previous accumulations to contend with. As GQ says, minimalism definitely has its attractions.“All shall be well, and all shall be well and all manner of thing shall be well.”0 -
At school we use small cubes as a way of rewarding the children, they get a variety of things like stickers and house points but the cubes go into a class bowl and are counted up each week, the winning class (with the most cubes) get a school trophy to display in their classroom for the week. I've been lunchtime supervisor to my new class since the beginning of term. Today a source of emense joy for me was when a very quiet and serious but beautifully behaved little boy came up to me as I was putting the storybook away and hand me a small plastic cube and told me I had earned that for being such a nice dinner person.
It's times like that I'm so glad I have my job, I bought the cube home with me after thanking him but I will return it to the maths counting tray tomorrow when he's not looking.SPC~12 ot 124

Apologies to whomsoever posted about dehumidifiers, but I cannot remember names from a dozen pages ago. I would thoroughly recommend a dehumidifier with a laundry mode. It super sucks the moisture whilst blasting out hot air. I bought mine a year ago to place next to the clothes horse. Fab. My standard drier couldn't cope with the various demands of the house, but one with the extra mode has worked brilliantly. You only need to switch on the mode when it's needed, rather than running it all the time ( you leave it on normal mode the rest of the time). If you have damp problems then running the laundry mode as a full-scale attack would also work.
Your flat mate HAS to learn that damp and mold are serious health risks for you both, no matter what his memory condition. Being 'understanding' won't matter a d*mn when you are in hospital with b*ggered lungs.0 -
The only time I've EVER painted behind kitchen appliances is when I was having a new kitchen fitted, there was lots of new plaster and I nipped in and painted it before the cupboards went in. If I had backless cupboards, I'd definitely paint the wall but I wouldn't bother with anywhere else. Bad news about the damp, GQ - people are very thoughtless.
Siebrie, just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear about your work; I know you were wondering if your own job would be safe. I've been through 'restructuring' when close colleagues were let go, it's very distressing and unfortunately the way it was carried out made me lose respect for the organisation. I hope things settle down for you.Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Last night I went through two boxes of miscellaneous, and threw almost all into the paper recycling. I found three of the dentist bills I was looking for, and need to contact the dentist, because I am now doubting if I ever took youngest dd. I seem to recall her having a severe cold at the time.
Our freezer challenge is going well. Several ingredients have been defrosted and turned into a meal. Leftovers of that meal have been frozen for quick meals for when dh is gone for a month and I have to look after my two dds all by myself.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590
