I grate courgettes into my 'overnight oats' - called zoats (zucchinin oats - geddit?) I struggle to eat them without now.

I also like them sliced and fried as a side..

Another new thing learnt. Thanks VJ'smum

MK woo has struck again. I was gardening with DH today and noticed he was wearing his old (very old) sweatshirt from 1980's Polythechnic. He said he had found it yester when he cleared out some stuff for sil. He said wondered why he was keeping it for sentimental reasons, unused, when he could wear it, so on it went today

recycling into correct bin, so that's gone from the kitchen.

Rationalised some store cupboard produce (amalgamated some dregs into new containers).

Gave a second look, for the sheer pleasure of it :D, at the new arrangements for storing plastic tubs/lids that really works soooo well.

Laid my hand on just the right small jar and lid for decanting enough piccalilli for DH to take away next week:) - no point taking big jar or buying one there. In fact not taking much food at all, there are shops there!! Just got to pack a few basics such as seasonings, cooking oil sprayer, tea n coffee.

Nothing left today, apart from recycling but I enjoyed the previous wins that help every day!

I have changed my work-life balance to a life-work balance.
    • Evening all, you've all been v busy!

Teabay item has 5 bids with 5 days still to go. Had a message from one bidder asking for my best price and would I cancel auction to sell privately? Declined their request. Other people had bid and I didn't think it appropriate to suddenly close the auction. I don't have any expectations of some crazy bidding war and making a fortune, but I do want to be fair.
It's the third time this has happened this year and I've only sold 6 things :o. New buying tactics?
The item was dismantled today and hoovering needs doing behind where it stood.

Anyhoo, some further purging done, taken a heap of stuff down to recycling bins (paper and card mostly). There'll need to be a tip run soon too.

Also took the bike out for a spin, forgot how much work it is with only 3 gears and a very heavy bicycle! Bruised a finger hauling bike up the steps to the flat. Dangerous sport this! Need to enquire with neighbour about bike shed viability (space, security etc).

Have a good week all, be it back to school, back to work or whatever else.

    • Morning all - I`m a long time lurker who has been thinking just how much `stuff` we have in our house and garage.
My plans were changed on Saturday thanks to the weather so I decided to spend some time getting rid of `stuff`.
Started with my undies drawer - things passed their best or that just didn`t fit went in the bag. Plus emptied a carrier bag that had been loitering on the chest of drawers, it contained new bra, knickers and three pairs of trainer socks. All added to the new tidy drawer.
Then on to the wardrobe. Doe`s/Did anyone else have a habit of shoving things in carrier bags and putting them at the bottom of the wardrobe?
So far I have found the following:
2 beautiful crystal wine goblets and a silver mirror compact - gifts from when I left my old company (12 years ago). Why haven`t I used them?
An envelope of Good Luck cards from the same time. Including one from someone I couldn`t recall. After racking my brains I remembered that it was someone I met on a women`s development course earlier the same year.
Then the stuff I was really annoyed about. Why did I have car/house insurance certificates and paperwork, old bills and piles of old paperwork from 2008 in there? Plus an old purse with a broken zip stuffed full of receipts. On the upside I did find some 2nd class stamps:)
Also magazines from 2009 (now in recycling). Magazines from this year are going to my sister who will then recycle after she`s read them.
So there are my first baby steps to getting some sort of order into our home. Will attempt to do something every day and hopefully I will soon make headway.

Well done on all the progress!
Yesterday we had the church's 'Starting Sunday Fest', with bouncy castle, barbecue, and a game. I was in charge of renting the bouncy castle and supervising the game, and it all went well. I have to say, that, to me, it was much more fun than my dd's birthday party the day before. Having co-operative adults helps :)
That's it for organising/supervising things for the time being. I'm roped in for the Christmas play, I believe.

That's fine, as long as I am not higher than second-in-command. I realised quite a few years ago that I have a problem supervising people, and that it's best to not let me do that. Due to my obedient nature (nurture?) I have supervised a few events/people, because I was afraid to say 'no' when asked, but it never turned out well, causing me a lot of stress, and I am now upfront about it. I'm happy to help, to quite an involved level.
Anyway, at the church event we all had a glass of sparkly white wine, and after that I decided 'no more alcohol for me'. That glassful went straight to my head.

    • Been away for a few days and spent a couple of days catching up with post etc so no Kondoing done.

Would love to join in with the Mins game so will need to find 15 things today in order to catch up. I shall include old emails and old things on my jobs list as well as physical things because they are all cluttering up my mind. I shall not include things which would have been sent out of the house in any case. That should keep me on track.

We did go into my favourite clothes shop whilst away (first time in more than 2 years as normally order online) and although it was full of very pretty things, I didn't buy anything. OH was trying to encourage me but I said no I have plenty already. Was just happy to enjoy looking at lovely things but I can appreciate them without needing to own them.

      Good morning all.

Some powerful progress going on in people's posts, have just read back in awe!

The best thing I have kondoed is the 4 hour chunk of time on Mondays which was formerly allocated to helping DD by doing the school run. So no more getting up at 5am to be there for 6.45 and returning home at 9. I still can't quite believe my good fortune that someone else is now undertaking this, and that I will only be required as emergency cover.

I now work weekends, so today is a day off, and will involve library visiting and paperwork. It's raining so that will help!

I'm also taking some photos of my flat to send to a friend who lives some distance away. I can guarantee that this will result in some tidying up as the camera never lies... :D:D

I'll update my mins list after work as I have been ding it.

      56 physical items.
Add 1 reusable bag and 6 files from the computer - digital clutter counts as well... total 63.

By the way, the Minimalists game over a 31 day month comes to a total of 496.

Off to work on a spreadsheet, needs to be completed by tomorrow :D

When people began doing Mins I decided that I would be too short of time due to holidays, appointments etc, but at the weekend OH and I started sorting items from the caravan ready for the new one to arrive and what with that and me attacking the plastic box cupboard I probably would have managed it, but haven't kept a note of what has gone already, never mind, it is the end result not the means .....

Loving everyone's successes and giggled out loud at Mav's description of herself, great stuff. I think it would be great if we were all confident enough to be who we want to be and not who others think we should be, for me it becomes easier with each passing year, but I do resent the lost years somewhat:(
