    Hello all :D
GQ Congratulations on the kondoed lbs :D
I am still on it and have lost another 2lbs this week so all good

My charity sale was on today and 330 items left the building onwards to their new home :D I hope they will bring joy into the life of their new owners. Loads of people said 'oh look I have got on what I brought from here last time, :rotfl:So £330 taken for Charity it was bl**dy hard work as I was on my own so made DH help :D But he couldnt deal with anyone with more 1 item :rotfl:as he couldnt get them off the hanger and fold them quick enough ;) So all I heard was Mav can you help me.He did do really well and I am thankful he was there.

I kondoed a Bessie Bessie Bessie :( Today. A leather jacket I brought a while ago that cost me a 4 figure sum (how stupid was I )
I will own up and say I never ever wore it as it was too good to wear and I might ruin it and Bessie kicked in and in the wardrobe it stayed and was admired from time to time.

So I thought right I will start wearing it put it on and its miles too big for me.It looked like I was strutting around in a black bin bag . :rotfl:I just laughed and laughed until I cried with laughter. It was so funny I couldnt speak for laughing.

So Jacket has been kondoed to a Charity close to my heart who are going to auction it off and the guide price is £700-£900 as I really dont want to see that binbag in my house again :D And lesson learnt.
Wore a bessie dress to today with a denim jacket to tone it down a bit and felt good. Have walked the dog in it I have fed the chickens and the cat it in and who cares I am NEVER EVER keeping anything for best lesson learnt !

    Mav x;)

Well done Mavy such a great picture of you in your Bessie walking the dog. As the ad says 'you're worth it.':A

  • I got a leather coat from a high-end CS once - was with DD and in an almighty rush and they were having a promotion on coats - all £5 or less, so after spotting the label, I grabbed it because it was A Good Price, DD carried it to the car with her bargains and I only held it properly when I got home and tried it on.

It was ever so heavy. Felt like a great weight pressing down on my shoulders and so I knew I'd never be able to wear it. I hated the idea of it clogging up a vast space pending any potential it had for re-sale so it just got rehomed within 24 hrs to let someone else have a bargain too. It felt better to take the hit and think of it as a charitable donation than live with the bulky consequences of my folly.

!!!Fanfare!!! DH has been quiet for a while this afto. He's just reappeared to tell me he has sorted out some ties and t shirts for sil's carboot bag - ta-da! :T

I think the trigger was that I suggested anything good goes to his sister, to get a bit of money in (since her employer ceased trading she's done loads of job apps and had some interviews but no job yet :(). It seems a good way of helping without it looking like 'charity'. A win-win, I reckon.

well done Mav, another mega achievement :T:T

well done all those setting the lbs free!

whispers haven't sorted out what to pack, was too engrossed in researching possible walking holiday. Have funds set aside but need to narrow down wishlist and then get DH to agree! A further incentive to kondo the lbs! :D

my goodness .... DD is over come with kondo madness! ... 3 bags full to go to CS already and several items she says she doesn't want, but I won't let her get rid of ( yet! or at least, not to CS! all things she WANTED and NEEDED and COULDN'T LIVE WITHOUT ... including her much loved Furby)

Loocyloo, the furby will still have been much loved by your DD, even if you can't see it because it is with another loving child. You and she will have the memories, as GQ points out. I took this attitude with sentimental things that I knew I should release and it worked for me. I need the space more than I need the physical object.

You could always take a photo of DD with the furby, I bet that would make you both smile as she
has grown out of it now!

I have kondoed a birthday party! And it all went well! Ten school friends were invited, the four boys declined due to a football match they all had to play, one girl was sick and only attended for ten minutes, and one girl was twenty minutes late. The weather was perfect and we spent nearly the whole 2.5-hour party outside. My whole schedule was turned upside down, but as they stuck more or less to the programme items I listed (just in a different order), I didn't mind too much. I'm sooo glad I had said 2.5 hours only, as it ended on a high note with everyone dancing to the wii.

We decorated plain cake with whipped cream, sprinkles, etc. Every girl had her own piece of cake to decorate, and I did not mind them nibbling the decoration before it even hit the cake, but I was upset when one girl started decorating the others with whipped cream and threw handfuls of m&ms in the air to pretend 'chocolate rain'.

DH wanted to drop some shoes off at the cobbler's, just as the first guests arrived aaaargh! I told him to stay and help me, and handed the party over to him when I got tired, after the cake decorating. He turned on the wii :).

When I asked him afterwards if he had realised how much this party had stressed me out, he said he did not know what there was to stress about. He can do it next year, and I will just help.

Throw out all the stuff that holds you back ,clothes and possessions no matter the cost mean nothing compared to your family and loved ones Finish putting your things in order as soon as you can, so that you can spend the rest of your life surrounded by the people and things that you love most.

    I love this !
Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.
  • Well done everyone on Kondoing weight, surplus Stuff and responsibilities.

I spent the afternoon helping my elderly friend, last week I moved stuff out of her cupboard so a new boiler could be fitted, today I helped her put it back in the cupboard. I worked really, really hard at not trying to influence her but, dear lord. Empty biscuit tins. A used car wash sponge, a brand new one and several shammy leathers - my friend hasn't owned a car for ten years, but Justin might want to clean the windows with them. About six wooden washing-up brushes, because you can't buy them any more.* A grill pan that doesn't fit her cooker. A bundle of sash cord - all her windows are modern double-glazed. There were three carrier-bags full of plastic carrier bags, Justin may need them too (and no, I didn't have time to samosa them!). She let me throw out an ancient electric kettle, and I filled a recycling sack with empty paper bags.

This is just one cupboard in her house, I have seen her spare room upstairs and it would give MK hysterics. I completely understand that she doesn't want to feel that she can no longer clean windows, bake cakes and so on but I found it really difficult to put all this back in the cupboard. My friend is 95, she has no family, so goodness knows what will happen when the inevitable occurs - not meaning to sound callous, but none of us lives for ever.

If it doesn't spark joy, don't keep it. One day, someone's going to have to dispose of your Stuff - let it all have been worthwhile.

*I did suggest that maybe the reason you can't buy them any more is because she's got the entire UK stock!

My mins for yesterday were - The local trade directory that came through the door straight in the recycling along with last week's RT and all the leaflets that came with the paper. DH kondoed my raised bed of potatoes - nice bucket of quite big ones. He also tackled the compost heap that had a potato growing in it - about a dozen good ones! A book titled Wear More Cashmere to CS bag. I also photographed some electrical stuff for Gtree and messaged a friend with a photo of a standard lamp - she wants it so something else going.
DH is on a trike run today and I'm meeting DS1 for a FHB at the club but I'm determined to get 'stuff' out of the house. Thanks for all the inspiration and encouragement on the thread folks.

Why not? Is it because you feel they have value, or that you spent good money on them? Can I ask, have you read either of MK's books, as they give a good insight into the reasons why things are kept past their useful life, and also suggest a plan for starting the KM journey.

Thank you, I have read the books - a couple of the items, it is 'politically correct' to keep for the time being ( grandparent visit due in next few months ! ) and a couple of others, from experience, in a few months, I'll be hearing 'WHERE IS MY XYZ? WHY DID YOU LET ME GET RID OF IT, I NEED IT FOR ABC' ... so, if that doesn't happen, then they can go!

Furby brings me joy! ( just not when he talks in the middle of the night! )
Thank you GQ, and MMF007 for your thoughts and suggestions, I shall take a photo of DD and Furby, and add him to the toys in my playroom ( I'm a childminder! ) and I'm sure the children will love him.
