Igamogam mines only going because it badly needs replacing, I've been happy with it but the time has come to upgrade/replace. If I'm honest I think the thought of coming back home to a skip on the front I can top up with unrecyclable junk is exciting me slightly more than the vision of my shiny new bathroom.

And happiest news of the kondoing day is that, dd1 upgraded her dyson so Dh bought her old one off her for us. Meaning my dc01 that still works but is ancient and the two back up but kept for spares and Justin in the attic are now all unneeded. Mil has a dc01 as well that we bought her 2nd hand eons ago it has a sticker on from the guy who sold it after servicing it. I've rung him this morning and he's still in business so we are giving him all 3 of our dc01s to use as spares or do up and sell as he sees fit. I'm just happy they ant gong in the landfill. So it helps him, Kondos our excess and keeps a few other dyson working and out of the landfill.Woo all round really.

I managed to unpack four large boxes and found my bread maker :j

Three medium boxes have been taken to a charity shop by the builder as our local charity shop is still closed due to floods.

I still have a few boxes to check and decide what stays and what goes but it is making a difference. The integral garage looks a lot clearer now and rather than throwing out the large freezer which was tripping the electrics I plan to clean it all thoroughly and use it to store tins and dried foods and keep it out of sight. If I can have very little in the new kitchen cupboards then I should be able to have fairly clear surfaces there as I can keep pans etc out of sight but still accessible.

Need more description as to how champagne was NOT a vile colour for bathroom suite...
I would have loved a champagne bathroom suite. We had sun king a bright orange and the shower cabinet looked like something out of doctor who it was so large. We suffered the orange suite for over 35 years and when we had enough money and when the kids left home we saved for a replacement and when asked what colour we wanted in the showroom OH and I both said white :D

Ha ha. In our house it just looked a deep cream colour. We teamed it with floor to ceiling cream tiles (and got a matching pack of the same which included a tiny dark mulberry flower, so we dotted those about in a random arrangement) and got cream ceramic holders for towels etc, then bought very thick soft plain mulberry towels and flannels, and we had nothing else in there at all except for the soap! Minimalist tendencies even then... mostly due to baby/toddler safety. (Mulberry carpet, of course.) It just looked and felt luxurious at the time.

I'd noticed that tidemarks were a problem with the darker colours, but we had no problems with that colour.

Loving the different coloured bathrooms! When we moved here over 40 years ago the bathroom was lemon - with 2 rows of black tiles round d the bath & basin & then half tiled with what we think we're the leftover pale blue kitchen tiles. Walls were a sort of apricot orange with seahorse stickers on them and the shelving was rough reason wood covered in black marble finish fablon! Needless to say it's now white ;) We did use to have a champagne suite in our ensuite with a corner bath which I loved cos I could lie down in it. I have some photos of DGD using the higher end as a water slide - that's also been revamped about 10 years ago to white!
Just phoned our local hospital to ask what to do with the pressure boot DH is wearing when he's finished with it. Apparently they are scrapped!!! One use only - what a waste - don't know how much they must cost but they don't look cheap :(

    I'd have swapped.

    We endured turquoise.

    In 2 different houses.

    I love white.

:) Oh gawd, coloured bathroom suites.

One flat I rented a room in, back in the 1980s, had an orange acrylic suite. A very cheap one which creaked alarmingly when I was in the tub and I was a lot lighter then than I am now.

I have also encountered the avocodo, skyblue and burgundy options. Nasty.

Most memorable was a house bought by pals which hadn't been updated in some considerable time. They gave us the tour, including the you've-got-to-see-this-bathroom. The suite was turquoise, the tiles were barbie pink and the whole thing had gone past bad taste and out the other side into the far realms of kitsch.

It was so incredibly bad it was actually fabulous, IYSWIM.:rotfl:

:o I have kondo'd most of last night's sleep and all three meals thus far today. I made the mistake of eating a load of carbs yesterday afternoon at a pal's. You wouldn't think that two slices of pizza, a bit of quiche and about 4 slices off a baguette, some crisps and some cake could make a person so ill that they could barely move, would you?!

I ain't never doing that again, for sure. Haven't eaten for 24 hours now, bar about 10 nuts to cushion down my lifesaving meds. Still not hungry. Mind you, having had my weight go up by 1.4 kg in 24 hours after eating that lot, I can live on my fat for a while longer.:D

Haven't kondo'd anything bar a workday, a visit to a pal and collecting my script. Am about to head up to the central library with the books which are due back tomorrow.

GQ, hope you feel better soon. Just shows what a good basic diet you have to have such strong reactions to a carb-fest.

When I was virtually sugar-free a while ago, I was tempted by a treacle tart, half way through I felt nauseous, nervous and shaky - quite bizarre, almost like I was having a panic attack. Talk about sugar-rush!

I have been playing about with the duvet cover today, ready to take off the excess tomorrow. I'd thought I could get away with removing 10 inches off one side, but have found if I take 3 ins off one side and about 7 ins off the other, the pattern will then be symmetrical. I had been wondering why the pattern wasn't very pleasing to the eye, but now I've realised the excess was simply causing the symmetry to be off, I like it a whole lot more. Twice the work, but better in the end.

:) Thanks for your good wishes, Serendipitious. I'm sure I'll feel much better tomorrow so will hold off eating until then to give my poor old digestive system a rest.

Last night I was clutching my tummy and mentally aplogising to the microbiota in my gut for subjecting them to so much glucose. There was clearly something amiss, having been low-carbing for five months now.

I just put the amount of pounds of overweight I'm carrying into a calculator and multiplied it by the 3,500 calories which are apparently stored in one pound of human fat.

:D I have 147,000 spare calories in storage. I think I'm safe to fast until 7 am tomorrow.:rotfl:

Took five books back to the library and got two out, so gaining a little there/
