    Morning all
Maddie well done on helping the jackdaw, years ago my little brother spotted an injured one when we were out walking. He asked if he could have it my step dad rather rashly said if he could catch it he could. Well my brother ran for miles and eventually came back triumphant with the bird tucked safely under his arm. It had a badly broken wing which mum fixed with lolly sticks and a bandage around its body to hold the wing in place. It stayed in our empty rabbit hutch for a couple of weeks being fed on dog food and worms till mum deemed it time for the bandage and sticks to come off. He had a bit of a list when flying but hung round our garden for years and cheeky thing would sit looking quizzically at the rabbit that eventually replaced him in the hutch. My bro called him Jack it ended up semi tame and would perch near bro and allow him to hand feed but mum always insisted it was a wild creature and should not be caged once it's wing had fixed.
When I was a kid one of my friends grandparents had one in a cage in their room they used to feed it fruit and it would sit on the back of their chair cawing it was very gothic and I still remember that room being dark and smelling of rotting fruit.

Dh took the shelves down in the bathroom last night so I need to give the walls a good wash down today. Need the room empty by the weekend as new suite is being fitted which will be incredibly woo and joy bringing.

    Have a joyful day all.

    Great result Mavvy :j

Been shredding old accounts this weekend - only one more box to go! Still, it'll be good not having them hanging over my head at night now they're no longer in the loft. Such a shame the others have to be kept for 6 years.

Slowly making progress on the new kitchen design - don't want to rush it as I need it to last for the next 40 years so it must work for me and my limitations as they're only going to get worse as time goes by. Am v excited for your new bathroom too Mrs Moneypenny.

Thanks oceanspirit it a lovley feeling isn't it. We've had our in since we moved in so its a 35yr old champagne sink and loo, the bath was replaced about 20yrs ago so that is a mismatched white one. The tiles I put up which are a patchwork of three different types that were on sale when times re harder than they are now.
I've given it a really good scrub this morning and thanked it for its service but I won't miss it. I've been saving all my overtime money from the last 18months so it will have been put to a very good cause.

Ocean I've seen some really lovey kitchen ideas on pintrest have you looked there? Cant wait to see how your new one plans out.

ooh... I had that champagne colour here until last year. I have no idea why they called it champagne, as I'd be worried drinking something that colour ;)

I LOVE my new bathroom. Now working on plans for the kitchen and really so need to start boxing up the stuff I don't use so it isn't a massive task when they finally do it.

Ah, you've stirred fond memories here of my champagne bathroom suite - the first job done as newly-weds, early 80s. I loved that bathroom.

One baby, one affair (his), one divorce (ours) and one house move (mine) swiftly followed, but I still recall how I loved that bathroom.:D

It's a bit like avocado bathroom suites (first marriage starter home had avocado, next house had whisper peach)...no wonder it took a while for people to actually start eating them!

Whisper peach was worse - a horrid wishy washy colour and in a certain light looked like you had already been ill ;) _pale_. I would have loved a champagne suite but it wasn't to be.

DH had pink in his bathroom until 2011, with wallpaper AND carpet
Now it's white ceramics, slate floor & marble tiled walls with ivory emulsion. So much easier to keep clean & hygienic!

From memory our options for suite colour were champagne (weak cold tea), pampas (sort of green) burgundy (a few doors down had that the scum line was a nightmare) midnight (ditto re the scum problems) in the 80s White was not an option. We once visited someone who had a black suite I kid you not they had sprayed it with paint of some sort it looked hideous.

We are having white suite with white tiles on the walls and dark grey slate floor tiles and a chrome ladder radiator.

2 bin bags going to CS today. 5/5 items sold on Eb*y :) Some odd bits I can't recycle going to recycle center.

Bathrooms: ours is yellow  :D It was here when we bought the house. It use to bother me but now it doesnt..........its all works and looks clean so whats the deal?? Not a dedicated follower of fashion and wouldn't take it out just to keep up with trends ;) We have changed taps because they do wear out. When it stops working then we will remove it - by which time I bet coloured suites will be back in :rotfl:
