KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Today I have mostly kondo'd frogs.
I've listed some junk on the tree of gum, have had an email enquiry already so hopefully things will start departing post haste. Have a larger item to photograph and list tomorrow.
Following my initial success with musicmagpie, I am slowly watching my way through some DVDs which will be thanked for their service and turned into pennies.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
whew, I slept for 15 hours last night (and half of today lol). I have managed to chop a third off an evergreen shrub, lots of deadheading of window and planted the last of the kale seeds - I will have kale plants :rotfl:
GQ, I hope you are feeling better soon
I haven't suffered a coloured bathroom suite (yet) but the wall paper in my rental bathroom  is showing the shocking pink paint underneath. The tiles are cream with a slight pink marbling so I'm very sure that it has a pink suite at some point, it must have been such an overwhelmingly intense room:AStarting again on my own this time!! - Defective flylady! :A0 -
Just started sorting out the house, I let go of the job at the end of June and promised myself I would clear the loft bit by bit.
I have thrown away loads of hoarded paper my A level coursework from 1979 for a start, no idea why I kept it so long.
I am being ruthless with things we no longer use I have given away lots of stuff and lots more to go...
My plan is to use our storage in a better way so we can easily get to things we use most.0 -
Ahem, champagne bathroom here - I think it's about 30 years old, I inherited it nine years ago. I am not over-fussed about updating but the sink has got some cracks in so I'm planning to get it redone - when I can find someone willing to do the job.
The pampas basin and loo downstairs are staying, though - can't say I'm bothered! :rotfl:Life is mainly froth and bubble: two things stand like stone. Kindness in another’s trouble, courage in your own.0 -
Well you've all been busy bees again! :T
I've been "drawer packing" again - normal KM will resume once we have moved and got settled.
Emptied all the desk drawers and put what business folders I could from the shelves into the drawers. That way the essential and current paperwork won't get lost or hidden away in packing boxes so I'll still be able to do the VAT even if the rest of the house is in a state.
Found some old papers - 2006 - in one of the drawers so they'll be destroyed. I won't have time to go through all the personal paperwork before we move so that will have to be boxed up to sort later.
Mavvy, well done. :beer:Ageing is a privilege not everyone gets.

Our first house had a 'whisper grey' suite - we teamed it with pale peach walls, towels, toiletries - and peach loo paper. Very late 80s
Our second house had a soft green suite in the ensuite and another grey suite in the main bathroom - that weird 'shell' design for the loo seat, sink and bath. We replaced that to white (with a thin silver border in the white tiles) and a feature purple wall (painted)
This house had white suites everywhere, although manky, so all have been replaced with nicer white suites. The downstairs loo had Laura Ashley wallpaper in green fern design, though, and our old ensuite (now DDs) was papered in yellow and blue candy striped Laura Ashley wallpaper
My mum's old bathroom was 'lovely'. A very large room with a pale pink suite (in the shell design) with pale pink tiles (same colour as suite) from floor to ceiling (random matching tiles with large bright pink flowers on), matching ceramic light pull thing, deep pink shag pile carpet and all of the accessories (3 soap dishes, 3 towel holders, a shelf above the loo, the toothbrush holder and cup, the loo roll holder) were a dip dye design - with the colour moving from pale pink to the matching deep pink of the carpet.... Ooh - and I forgot the pink flowered blinds at the 3 windows to go with it all!!!
It's now white and chrome and minimalist, with wood flooringI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Oh, greent, what a wonder your mother's bathroom must have been, I could just see it.
My teeny-tiny bathroom is a white suite, with white walls, plain white tiles, a chrome towel rail and loo roll holder. I won't even allow coloured t.p. in there, gotta be white. The only colour is the towel and the two bottles of toiletries on show (shampoo and bath product). Everything else is contained in some little chrome and white 'wicker' little storage drawers.
Very plain and restful, with grey floor tiles. I rent rather than own (and the council doesn't do any other colour than white suites, thankfully) but would have something very similar even if I was choosing it myself.
By gum, when I was at my pal's small house on Sunday, I was suffering from visual overload as well as carb-gorging. She has a lot of Stuff. Don't get me wrong, it's not trash, it's books, craft materials, candles and knick-knacks and, separately, all attractive. But just far too much for the space, for convenience and for my peace of mind. Good job it's her home and not mine.Have slept blissfully for 8 hours and woken feeling much better. I was going to say feeling normal but I'm never 100% sure I meet the qualifying criteria for normality.
The excess carb weight has gone and taken another .2 of a kg away with it, I'm still not exactly hungry but reckon I will have my normal salad breakfast, just a slightly smaller portion, and see how I go.
Lesson learned; if you're low-carbing and must go off the plan, don't stuff yourself silly or you'll suffer for it.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

If it drys up I plan to nip round mils and put weed killer on her gravel to hopefully see off the mares tails. Apart from that not really got any kondo plans today. Really need to iron and clean out the tortoise as they didn't get done yestear say.

 Please don't iron the tortoise! If you need a flattish one, you should get a terrapin instead.
Punctuation is a wonderful thing isn't it:rotfl: GQ don't worry they are two seperate activities and the iron will get nowhere near troglodyteSPC~12 ot 124
