We kondoed a job from the todo list: we hung a full length mirror on the wall. We do not have scales, and only an overthebathroomsink mirror, and have lived with that for the past 8 years, but with my dds growing up and developing their own style, I think we need a proper mirror. Personally, I do not need one, I am always perfect 😂

Would a charity shop be likely to accept this or should I just bin them?

YES! Or if you cant get to one pop them in a shoe bank - most supermarket car parks have them now. Use Freec!cle maybe? Try to avoid putting them in landfill whilst they still have a use:o

I have given lots of shoes to charity shops, in good condition but with some wear. I'm sure someone will appreciate nearly new shoes at a good price :)

My kondo journey is still slow but is progressing none the less. My wardrobe is looking joyful and toiletries and books are done. Paperwork seems to be a job that lots of people have struggled with, but I only really have one folder of documents and I try to go through it regularly to get rid of anything no longer necessary.

I still need to do my kitchen items properly. I have de-cluttered the kitchen but really need a proper kondo session. It is a big kitchen though, and will be a big job, I will need to break it all down into smaller categories! Still trying to get my DH on board. He has cleared out some clothes and books himself, but still tends to leave things lying all over the house making it look untidy. Drives me mad but I refuse to pick up after him!

Just started reading the thread so forgive me if this has already been posted before.

Quidco are currently offering 60p to new members to Preloved; plus you get 10p for posting a new advert. It's free to join and post adverts to Preloved, you can post things for sale or free to a good home so might be an alternative to eBay, free cycle, facebook selling pages to offload unwanted, unloved items.

I am married to his twin brother:rotfl:

We have been to the recycle center this morning with the last of the current lot of cardboard packaging that came with kitchen cabinets just before Christmas. The last of the rubble from the chimney removal has gone too. had to go there with my eyes shut a) because people do not separate their rubbish from the recyclable stuff so the household waste skip is mainly full of metal plastic and paper:mad: and b) lots of stuff that could be reused - crockery, toys, furniture just dumped in various collection bays:mad::mad:

I have put some GSCE revision guides on Fr**gle. DD2 finally admitted she no longer needs them...........A levels this year! She has also added some general bits and bobs to CS bag which is now full to capacity and a second one will be started after this lunch break in front of PC:D

I like the idea of a challenge. I didnt join in the challenge on the previous thread - cant remember what it was called now. It was interesting reading people's lists though! I have thought about lots of ways to keep me motivated : a specific number of items every day, the above mentioned challenge,2016 items in 2016,reduce possessions by 10% 20% 50% actually thats quite easy for every 10/20/50 items you keep, kondo 1/2/5 accordingly. I am gong to go away and think about it. Its just a personal challenge as I dont want to lose momentum....... this time last year I had hoped I would be in a fully kondoed house by now:o

After I had sorted and reboxed the Christmas decorations and put them in the loft DH has just found the box with the gutter clips for the outside lights in the garage. As I had decided that any visit to the loft must have some thing brought down I managed to remove 3 tatty cartons and a carrier bag with small ornaments that have been up there for the past 7 years! Ornaments checked - none saved and put with the CS bag which was duly deposited today - all going well until I looked at a rail on the way out. I'm sorry Kondo-ites but I just had to buy a beautiful soft leather coat for DH. He does have one already but the leather is very stiff & I don't like it. They did say they would refund if not suitable. He tried it on, fitted perfectly and said .............wait for it..............you can put my other one in the CS bag :eek: I nearly passed out :p

Bought a beautiful new pair of chocolate suede boots in the sale and purchased a can of suede spray as I want to keep them in tip top condition so I have done that this morning and used the whole can up. The boots have been stacked neatly in the originating box with my other boots in the wardrobe.

I have blitzed the airing cupboard this morning. Allot of the bath sheets that were in there are 12+ years old so they have gone. I went througb the hand towels and they have been bagged up. I also went through the dog towels and those have been bagged. Some of the bath towels have been diverted for the dogs.

I have contacted a charity in Newcastle to offer them all the towels and separated out the dog towels which could be used for shower mats or cleaning. I will drop those off in a couple of weeks. It's a charity that does hot meals and showers for the homeless. Those will go to an excellent cause.

I have ordered brand new bath sheets from the White Company using some extra voucher codes to give me 50% off. When they arrive that will give me allot joy! Not just that, but using new towels for months to come will give immesurable joy!

    :) Afternoon, everybody.

Am completely thrilled as I can now see (most of) the living room floor. Kitchen like a bomb site with washing up all over the place but I'll dynamite that bridge when I come to it.

Went to my allotment for the first time since well before Xmas. Think someone has interferred with my shed lock slightly as the home-made keyhole cover has been moved off the keyhole. The haven't bothered to break the tongue & groove door this time, so maybe they peeked thru the (barred) window and discovered that my only tools are hand-tools and they are spaghetti'd up with a chain to the wheelbarrow and not nickable without a bit of effort.

Can see I will be kondo-ing a couple of fence posts out of 'Trigger's Fence' which is a hodgepodge of reclaimed posts. Two of them have rotted off at ground level and would be too short to reposition further into the soil. How very dare they, they've only lasted 8 years and were secondhand to start with..........:rotfl:

Ne'mind, I shall get a replacement from the reclamation yard next weekend and wheel it thru town balanced across my pushbike. Tiring, but I've done it before. And then another the following weekend, then mend the fence and save the rotted posts for the bonfire.

:D Went to the chazzer this afternoon and took two large carrier bags of Misc Komono and only bought 3 books (not in the library, a series I'm following and will be donated as soon as I've finished with them). And fruit, gotta have your five a day.

One day this week, I felt the Power of the Woo when I opened the door to go to work and discovered it was pertiddling down. Pre-KM, the following would have ensued:

GQ curses under her breath and retreats back indoors. Cue the hunt of the one umbrella, a folding black one inclined to disappear. Search every possible bag it might have been in, rootling at the bottom of them, plus a few places not-bags. Aware of time running out as have to get to work and either find it, having got into a lather. Or don't find it and go out and get wet.

New version GQ; opens hall cupboard. Takes brolly off shelf where it always lives. Leaves home - takes 5 seconds. Brolly always goes back in the cupboard unless it's too wet to be rolled, in which case it dries in the bathroom then goes back. Simple habits but it means that the brolly is never lost, and I'm never tempted down that primrose path to damnation whereupon a little voice in my head suggests that the ownership of a spare brolly, or two, is reasonable.
Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Help Please KM-ers. Baking trays/roasting dishes.

How best to store? I need easy access, so sideways in a deep cupboard sounds good, but due to the varying sizes, they all seem to get tangled up.

Any advice appreciated, this is my weekend task.
