I've been hanging onto all three in case one breaks. This hasn't happened in about a decade. And I'm coming to the world view that I'd rather spend a few quid down the line as necessary than be irritated with excess belongings right now.:p

I my case I would hang onto to something for a decade JIC and then buy another anyway, having forgotten I had a 'spare'! Actually I will correct that............the 'old'me would have done that. Now I am thinking: can't be bothered storing this anymore. When I need another I will buy it......because that is what I would have done anyway :)

  • It sounds like I've missed lots of action on here in just a week back at work.
The first week back is always the 'make or break' in terms of us staying on track and we've made it. No mess, clutter or sorting to do on Friday evening,...which was lucky because our valuation to go on the market was on Saturday and everything needs to look great as we sell.

Just popped 2 larger toy-items on FB to sell as we don't need them & someone else can def. get joy out of them. :)

I have today started my KM journey properly. I now have tidy sock drawers for me and OH, tidy knickers & boxers drawers, tidy bra drawer and tidy OH good T-shirts drawer. OH is a bit resistant to throwing stuff out, particularly some old T shirts I discovered that I've never seen before (we've only been together 15 years!). I have allowed these to be downgraded to gym/decorating, but only on the proviso that some of the current stuff in this category is to go.

The gym/decorating T shirt drawer needs properly tidying but that will be another day.

He's pretty impressed with his socks & boxers drawers, I'm hoping he will buy into this as we go along.

Ah Shanks 77 if the cake is gluten free, And you live nearby I'll take you up on that.:rotfl:

Today has been dry so after cleaning the kitchen cupboard fronts,I decided to continue the chopping of the tree dh has cut down, I filled the green bin at the time but it's been emptied now .abracadabra it's full again!
Dh came out so I got him to saw up the trunk, and take it to the tip, which is a bit of pain to get to ,so wanted to make the journey worthwhile, so found numerous items in the garage of doom!
When he was gone I had a shift round in there cleared some junk out and put some things up on top of the rafters. Nice tidy garage, and some thing eyed up for next tip run ! !
That will be a while off yet so at least it's presentable for now.had a clear up in the garden.leaves every where again, also chopped back a few shrubs.
The 3 bags for charity are in the hall waiting for dh to put out in the morning on way to work. :T

Mavvy I had some trainers that I cleared the other day they had been spared my 1st kondo but although like new, I got hem because they had rocker soles, but they are too heavy and I always wear the old ones. So they've gone :j

  • I have been avoiding shoes. Last year I Kondoeed them into just one drawer, but if I'm honest the anniversary of that is fast approaching and some of the shoes haven't been worn in that time.

I went to see a podiatrist this week, I've had a really painful (and very unglamorous!) corn and it's time to acknowledge that the favourite boots I've been wearing just aren't wide enough for my EEE trotters. I'm at an impasse - can't afford new ones, don't want to part with the old ones and don't really like the ones that do fit!

  • Is there a local shoe mender who could stretch the boots?

Oh Polly, I have been in that place too - needing new footwear but not able to afford it.. But I am guessing that you do want to Kondo the painful corns, that that would bring you joy? Would you be able to wear/ put up with the unjoyful ones that fit until you can afford new footwear? Then atleast your feet would feel joyful (you would just need to not look at them whilst wearing the boots)

One thing that has happened to me since reading the book (nearly finished) was that on Saturday we went looking for some new joyful bed linen. Before we went out OH noticed a crack in his Denby mug of which he has 8 (I use a different sort which I like). We do have a dishwasher so need quite a lot of crockery. Going through JL we noticed they had these mugs on offer. In the past we would have bought one to replace the cracked one, plus we also have a chipped plate. I questioned whether we actually needed replacements as do we ever get to the point we've used all of those types of mugs or plates? Even if we have, we still have plenty of others in different designs............

So we didn't buy a new mug and plate. We still have the cracked mug and chipped plate to release from the house, but I feel my mindset has changed somewhat.

I looked at some boots in the sale. They nearly fitted my requirements for replacing my current boots (the most comfortable I've ever had) when they wear out. In the past I may well have bought them as I struggle to find boots I like. But they didn't bring me joy, they were just OK, so I didn't buy them.

Oh, and we found the joyful bed linen, but only a pillowcase, but we like the colours, so we've ordered it online.

  • I might look into stretching - the boots are very expensive and I love them to bits, but I wore them several days in succession at Christmas and that's what caused the problem. I think if I wear them for short periods they'll be ok. Some of the other shoes just need to go - this is partly down to lifestyle changes since I began KM.

I need to pick a moment when I'm really in the KM zone - today's not it!
