  • OH has taken a load for the charity shop and some recycling for the tip - doesn't it feel so good when the carp actually leaves?

Oh yes indeed! When the stuff departs through the door it does make such a difference - a weight being lifted from you!

I have a stack of paper to go out when the recycling bins are emptied tomorrow. The bins are pretty full right now so it's hanging around in my flat waiting for the off.

I also have a half full box for the charity shop, and a smaller box of bits for the tip. I'm kind of impatient for them to fill up - sadly I don't seem to be spurred on to fill them up more quickly!!

That's the thing isn't it! We have 2 identical sets we are replacing, but when we bought them 7.5 years ago it was difficult finding anything that would go with our white wood furniture, there was very little around at that time that was patterned but with a white background. Cream or ivory would look awful with it. Fortunately there's more choice at the moment. We don't want totally white though, for one thing our cat sleeps on the bed at times.....

I think we'll give the new set a couple of weeks and see how we feel about another design. There's another that's similar but different, but has possibly too much pink to go with our lilac walls, plus it has pink candy stripe on the back which OH isn't keen on.

    Decisions, decisions....

I know its a bit late but next have some bedding where it comes with two quilt covers and four pillow cases. I am a bit fussy in that I like my curtains and bedding to match, and these have matching curtains so these fit the bill well and spark my joy, lol. Both duvet covers are different but matching patterns.

    Hth.

There aren't matching curtains available, there is fabric, but it's £95 a metre and we have two windows :eek: Fortunately it has a linen background, not the white we need so we won't be tempted. :rotfl:

Our existing plain curtains are a good match colourwise I think so we will be OK.

Good start to the morning, I've just folded my tea towels, liberated a new one I've never used to the washing machine so that it starts being used (it was a present from my late father) and binned a couple of oven gloves I no longer use.

Last night my husband binned a fairly newish shirt which gave me no joy to iron. It was cut slightly across the bias and the arms were a nightmare, plus it seemed to get really dirty round the collar and not wash well.

Oh, and I binned a pair of socks last night too.

Clearing out the attic (we have mice, aaahhh!) I found 7 T-shirts for future dh's use. 4 of them were not his size, they have been put in the bag for the secondhand shop; 3 were put with his other T-shirts, so that they are used.

We have been trying to catch these mice for a few weeks now, and finally managed to catch a really fat one yesterday. It should have been dead, but wasn't. Dh was brave enough to take it to the bottom of the garden - where the neighbour's chickens live - and release it there. Last night, I heard another mouse getting caught in one of the humane traps, but it managed to escape through the release hatch......

I think I've taken KM-ing too far over Christmas. We were staying at my parents for 10 days, and bought shoes for my dds. The shoes came in lovely sturdy boxes (lacker red and black-and-beige stylized floral design), which we could not take home with us, because the car was packed to the gills. I told my mum to keep the boxes until our next visit in March.....

I arrived home and did not get to hearing all of the interview but it sounded more and more like an extract from the MK book.

My thoughts exactly. A bit of bandwagon hopping methinks.......never did like that duo a bit sarky and patronising for my tastes.

Along with the egg cups I now feel I need some sort of hand/shoulder bag. I HATE bags and finally succumbed to one when I was working in more than one place and had keys and and 2 mobile phones to juggle. Well its looking a bit tired an dated now so I think it needs to go - I bought it second hand so it owes me nothing IMO. Decided I need a good leather bag not too big and preferably with long strap as I carry it across body either that or some trendy leather rucksack and oh it will have to be second hand too ;) Will look on Eb8y and see what comes up I am in no hurry - any ideas of makes/brands? I like quality :)

I like England Village leather bags sold in HOF mega money but I did pick mine up from Tk m*x for £70 rather than £250  The other make I like is Blondie Mania again mega money but often on Eb*y for a snip. Both makes are thick leather and quality is excellent and they are a bit different. Will last for ever and bring me a lot of joy if that is the sort of style you are looking for. Also cant go wrong with Fossil another fab make.

Bags are one of my favorite subjects :rotfl:as you may have noticed.
I only have a few now (including one each of all these above) ;)

Good luck have a look at the websites and see if there is anything that brings you joy.;)

  • I buy all my handbags from T K Maxx, they usually have loads so it's a case of finding one that meets your needs - a lot of them are 'designer' but that means nothing to me, I just prefer leather bags and they're the cheapest source.

I Kondoed mine down to about six, I tend to use one bag all the time and then swap it when I want a change, and I kept one evening bag in case I ever go to a posh 'do' again - the smaller the bag, the more expensive it seems! I still have my mum's handbag, I love it but as I write this I'm just realising that the first emotion I feel is not joy but sadness as it reminds me of her. Perhaps it's time to go ...
