KonMari 2016 - The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up

Managed to stop myself buying more clothes in an online sale today by phoning OH before I hit the buy button. I do not need any more clothes.
Got rid of yet more paper over the weekend and can feel myself winding up for a big Kondo session as stuff is getting me down. Have to get some paperwork with a deadline out of the way first so it'll be another week before I can do it.Decluttering Awards: 🏅🏅0 -
Elona, what a wonderful family to help you accomplish so much! Having your bed set up with its new mattress and now so pretty must be a wonderful feeling. I can get a lot done as long as I have a good bed to sleep in! Glad to hear you are settling into your new space.Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Sorted the desk of doom yesterday - it's still not useable as a desk but it's a lot tidier than it was! Brought in a pile of paperwork to shred at work. Also cleaned DSs old bath toys and listed as a bundle on local FB group, got £5 for it and being collected tonight. And teachers gifts have been taken to school today instead of Friday as one of DSs teachers doesn't work Fridays - he can't take it any other day as goes to the breakfast club and would have had to drag a big bag across the playground on his own! So that's all done and dusted for another year!

Some big successes going on for everyone. Keeps me inspired - so thank you!
Busy weekend here so only one very lowly bag of shred to report, but that does mean some more of the dreaded paperwork has gone. And a chunky clunky item from the hallway has bids on it and will sell, so I'm looking forward to the future space made by that.

I mostly lurk on here but had to come on to say I have given my dining table and chairs away. Didn't need them as we have table and chairs in the kitchen. The lounge looks very spacious as a result and I am now wondering why I dithered about it for so long. All that clutter used to be money0

Tip run done on the way to an appointment - one radiator, one floor polisher, one electric kettle, two battered lampshades and two smoke alarms.
Need to see what I can take on my way to Wednesday's Pilates class...0 -
That's great Chezza - wish I could do the same, we never eat at it apart from on special occasions and it's such a breeding ground for clutter!
Out - a pair of shoes I had ordered 2 sizes of (taken back the ones that were too small)
Out - a pile of shredding into the work shredder
Out (hopefully tonight) - the Music Magpie box (printed paperwork at work and have to go and pick something up tonight so will take at the same time)
In - a 10 day sample of Estee Lauder foundation (to go in my holiday bag so it will go out again within 6 weeks!)
In (tonight) - a Hangman/Noughts and Crosses blackboard set to put away for DS for Christmas (he loves both games and is always making clutter out of piles of paper playing them both!)My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

Thanks Ivyleaf, that's helpful to know.
been busy with work today and, unfortunately DH has roped me in to help him tomorrow. Very hard work planned in the predicted 29C.....
well folks, I kondo'd a conman today. I was in supermarket car park when I noticed a be-suited man approach a lone elderly woman and offer her a fiver. I heard him say that she had dropped it but then I heard the lady say she didn't think she had. As soon as he asked her to get her purse out to check I lept from the car, told her to put her purse away, told him to go and explained to the lady this is a known trick. He was trying to get access to her, purse, not to snatch it but steal a bank card. I reported to police and the supermarket (who have cctv) and asked the lady, and another shoper who came to see what the fuss was about, to tell everyone about the attempt, so they would be warned if someone tried it on them. This was in a very small town but it is considered a fairly affluent area....

Me neither, but I know now. Well done on you for spotting it.
I am about to try out my brand-new can opener bought yesterday and once I am sure it is fine, the old one will go into the metal recycling at the tip. It's blunt (over 20 years old) so no point in donating it to a chazzer.
To me, this is the kind of shopping I want to do; replacing something as necessary, plus shopping in a local independant business in my own neighbourhood. And then shedding the worn-out one, not keeping it for Justin.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.
