I feel the joy GQ, great finds! :)

Did 3 hours work this morning. Bag of random Komono taken to CS, recycling of paper and card done, mini food shop, quick clean round kitchen and an hour reading this afto!

I have no paid work tomorrow and am up to date with most household chores so look out all non-joyous items in the vicinity, here I come!
We are visiting in laws on Saturday and I have pursuaded DH that we should go to bed shop near to them, to try a few mattresses. We have had current one for a long time (can't remember but at least 15 years) and it's beginning to show its age. Nothing wrong with bed base so only need mattress but I don't think it is easy to choose just the right one is it?? I have seriously considered getting the one Premier Inn uses because I find that so comfortable, I just can't be sure that consumers would get the same as the hotel gets.... I shall check to see if there are any reviews.

Right, off to make a few social phonecalls while DH is back out to work. He is working too hard this last few weeks and he looks tired so I bought him a greetings card 'from his favourite wife' :D to cheer him up.

:) I have a Hypn0s mattress, think that's maybe what Premier uses? Thick end of a grand and worth every penny.

mila; A grand is slang for £1,000. monkey is £500, pony is £25. The latter two are mainly gambling terms.

Someone might say they'd put a monkey on (name of horse) in the 3.05 at (name of racetrack).

I have had a lovely kondoing day - all done before and after work and in my break so it felt very efficient!

The heavyweight papers were taken to be recycled, plus a large cardboard box. While packing the car, I found a bag of kidswear in my boot that DD put in earlier in the week which I'd forgotten about, so that's also now gone to the clothing bank. And about a year's worth of toiletries delivered to DD's - she's delighted. Also delivered the last of some childhood books of hers, ditto. :D

Kondoed all the rubbish from the car interior - the g/kids were in the back for a hour's journey last week so you can imagine...

And because the pile in the hall has shrunk, I've been able to put all the extra stuff from my room into the hall ready for sorting, so my bedroom is now just a bedroom. First time ever in 3 years! It feels like a miracle! :j

If it wasn't for the stories and inspiration on here, I'd still be frowning at it all in its original state - so thank you!

  • Clearing the bedroom is really significant, Serendipitous. I'm someone who's always used her bedroom as a dumping-ground/hideaway just because it's the one room that visitors aren't likely to see. I still have a tendency to gather unread books, CS collections etc in there, which I'm fighting against. I definitely sleep better in a calm and tidy room.

GQ - it didn't even occur to me that 'a grand' is UK-specific slang till I read your post above, it's a phrase I'd just use without thinking. Not that I deal in such figures routinely!

:) I think it was originally cockney slang. There's another one I remembered later; string of ponies means £250 (i.e. 10 x £25).

Was earwigging on a convo last week among dealers (antiques not drugs) and someone not present was referred to as a dealer in tomfoolery.

Haven't heard that one in years; tomfoolery = jewellery in cockney rhyming slang. Sometimes just shortened to 'tom'.

Cleared out a bag of clothes for the charity shop last night, just a normal 5p carrier bag but it all counts. Did it in about 5 mins as well, no opportunity to change my mind then! Also dug out my box of free samples from magazines, I used to save them all for nights away (lighter than taking even a travel size when you'll only be having one shower!) but with having a little one now I rarely have nights away so am going to use them up first instead of spending money on new products. Moneysaving and gets rid of clutter.

Sold 2 DVDs on a local selling site so those have gone today. And finally, hoping the Music Magpie box will go this weekend!

I have just kondoed two shoulder bags that no longer bring the joy and replaced them with a small backpack and a more practical shoulder bag. Sorted out the little cupboard under the stairs and found d two more backpacks that can go too. A couple more could go but DH has vetoed that for the moment :(

Kondo gang I am quite upset and distressed, paper appears to have snuck in and almost took over the flat at one point today!
I was aware a fee weeks ago of some pensions paperwork which I needed to review in order to move it on to the bin. Then I changed bank account. OMG it's actually taken 2 hours to read and shred it all....
Happily in the reshuffle I uncovered a slim file of important legal docs which was in use until a few months ago and I knew could be kondoed soon. All paper has been destroyed and deposited in the recycle bag.
Every.single.one. Of my direct deits has sent me a letter about the bank change :rotfl: I can see how clothes or toiletries could sneak back into the home, well it's the flat white menace you need to stay on top of, take it from me!!!

Oh the best laid plans...... still feeling below par - maybe a little bug because I cannot still be tired from the weekend!?
Managed to re-arrange some fleeces and other bulky tops into one drawer (none to go out), and revisited bags. I realised that I can make good use of a casual bag I have that lies flat but can hold quite a lot. It is zipped and has an outside pocket, also zipped, and an inside pocket, so is going to be very useful. I did get rid of quite a few bags last year in Kondo round 1 and, obvs, this one made the cut but I had not really thought about it. As my circs have changed it will come in to its own! :)

As GQ says, it's fun shopping from your own supplies. :rotfl:

I have put my old bathroom scales in the CS bag. They are old, bulky and not very attractive, and as scales are playing a big part in my life at the mo I have treated myself to a pretty digital one, so there is no doubt about loss (or gain). They have a lovely picture on that cheers me up when I see them , so that's got to be good!

Well done on the paperwork battle GoingtoDoIt and Serendipitious, the bags Silva (it is true that DH's seem resistant, perhaps we need a male version of MK??), the clothes Lilian and to Everyone who keeps me going with your fun and inspiring posts, thanks!

Cleaned bedroom thoroughly - I had a feeling I'd be surprised, so I timed it. 9 minutes to dust surfaces and clean floor. Room is now immaculate. :j

So although the kondoing felt like it took ages, that time is clearly going to be recouped again and again. Feels like a long term win. :j
