Took a big blue bag (from the big blue and yellow shop) full of stuff to the charity shop after work. Mostly clothes plus some books a couple of balls of yarn and two pairs of curtains that do not fit any of the windows in my flat. They came from my last place (a rental where I had my own curtains up) and they were put up on the spare bedroom windows as a temporary measure. Nearly 3 years later I have finally replaced them with lovely blackout curtains that actually fit :o

The car boot was full of assorted metal, wood, cardboard, rags, glass and a bucket of compostable stuff, and that all went to the recycling centre.
I don't have a garden in my flat, the compostables were the unfortunate remains of plants that did not survive my black thumb. I have a small collection of sturdy house plants that somehow survive my unconscious assassination attempts. Others come and go.
I can't bring myself to thank the dead plants, I can only apologise to them!

Finally kondo'ed that heavy box of academic paperwork including every essay ever written. Every item has been removed from its plastic pocket and stacked up neatly in various strong bags awaiting emptying into the recycling (which is currently too full to accommodate them.) But tomorrow it will go! It took well over two hours but with a short break to watch Mr C's speech on departing Downing St. (Bet Sam Cam has done some kondoing this past week!)

Anyway, another step for me on the way to joy. It's a relief to have let those papers go. The heap in the hall is significantly smaller...

Hi all, had a look at downstairs rooms with fresh eyes today! So the 2 candles from either end of mantlepiece have gone into a cupboard will just bring out when I want to light them. So just 1 ornament on there now
The shelf unit has a photo frame with 2 pics in on top shelf ,
    1 ornament on next shelf,
1 photo and 2 glass tea light holders on 3rd shelf,
and the bottom shelf has 2 small stacking leather boxes which hold tea lights and essential oils, next to 1 photo frame, and glass oil burner.
A wicker heart has disappeared from the wall going into the kitchen.and 3 small decorative plates have gone from wall in kitchen, the oven glove has gone in the drawer.
The landing window has lost a large African lady!!!!:rotfl:
The bedroom window ledge now has just a large cream vase on one side and 2 cream figures on the other. 3 heart shaped boxes have been kondoed and the contents apart from 2 small items have been kondoed too ! :T

:T Sounds like you're on a roll with those decoratives, wort. Nice one.

Came home from work and my freegle pick-up had happened as planned (outdoor hidey-hole) so that's one bulky and heavy item out of the shed and off to serve someone else. Yippee!

Have finished a book in the past hour and that's now in the donation bag, have paid a utility bill online and filed the paperwork and put out the enclosures for recycling.

Still got to wash up and straighten out the kitchen but have shoved a vac around after work and run a washload, so am keeping on top of things.

Have also decided a teatowel can go.

Wort - I have quite wide window sills and I used to put small ornament the on them until I had vertical blinds fitted. There was no room to turn them so all the ornaments went! This was before Kondo I might add. Hav'n't missed them though ;)

Mila, it's an old fashioned slang word. Let's put it this way; a man could roger a woman, or another man, and that would be legal in most parts of the world, but not a dog or cat, iyswim......so 'roger the dog' is Not a good idea :rotfl:

    Morning all
Last day before the summer hols today, I've loved work so much this last year it's a shame it's coming to an end and will be changing.
On the up side I will be able to get back into kondoing over the summer.
A few things will go to school with me today, I've got trays of cakes as its my birthday on Sunday, and a bag of gifts and cards that can go in plus two bags of sweets for the kiddies in my two classes to share at home time. So a bit of space will be created
