Dad is still a taxpayer, although Mum isn't, and I have got him set us as giftaider at their local cancer chazzer so I think I will have to move to getting more of their stuff into that shop than bringing it up to mine.
Get him set up at your CS too. There's nothing limiting the number of places you can register for gift aiding donations.0 -

That's an idea - you don't think it'll look fishy that he lives 30 + miles away?

So interesting reading everyone's posts!
I'm just plodding along slowly, but I cant believe the influence its having on my OH. He purged his (over the top imho) gym gear collection and he actually said that it felt cathartic:rotfl:
Coming from someone whose parents still have mobiles from about 2003 its a turn up for the books as they say.
My friend is looking to put her house up for sale and was talking about hiring storage (to clear stuff up to make her house seem empty and uncluttered I presume?) At least £50 a month:eek:
I was cringing inwardly I can tell you. Maybe I should buy her the book!
Bit of a dilemma though, bought a steam cleaner and I'm pretty sure that the heating element is shot. So reluctant to take it to the tip though. Worth putting it on freecycle?0 -
I'm always in favour of freecycle (although we have freegle here and I'm a freegler).
Describe stuff honestly, even if it's 'spare or repair' and you'll be surprised what people will clamour for. Anything's better than the tip.
Although, if it's newish, and defunct, have you tried to take it up with the place you bought it from?Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Nope. If it's the same charity, you can usually drop off in any branch. If it's a different one, then that would explain why - he's choosing to support that charity and/or it's the only one that takes certain stuff so he gives it to you to drop off. It's no more fishy than you donating your dad's stuff on your gift aid allowance... :cool:0 -

Actually it's mine and Mum's stuff I'm donating at present, he's pretty minimalistic and doesn't have a lot anyway.
Every single thing I donated today was my personal property, which makes a change..............:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I can't imagine anyone would look at it in that much detail. I used to giftaid in my home town and where I worked, which was 65 miles away.
Chucked tatty old pen out and now have posh Swarovski one (which was a gift obviously!) in my handbag for every day use :T. Rather than leaving it in the bedside drawer and not using it.
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Don't forget that if one does a tax return, any gift aid should be included in the relevant section of the form, so keep the letters that the charities send!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Morning all
I think I am losing the plot here.
Another 2 bin bags kondoed clothes mainlyThings I was not sure about have gone.I took them straight to the charity shop as I knew I would be tempted to take things back out.
Stuff I had put by to sell but never seem to have the time to get round to it. All gone.
One of my friends came round yesterday to pick up yet another bag of unwanted gifts we have been given and also a couple of bottles of awful wine for a tombola she is running.
Her house is very cluttered and she has started the KM process I am so proud of her
She works full time a single parent to 3 older kids 21,18,16 so always has a house full.
She said all I want is to be able to spend a weekend doing what I want to do not cleaning (or really just moving stuff around) and getting no where.:D
She has the box by the front door where she drops unwanted stuff into.
She is getting there and hopefully will start to enjoy her house until the kids move out as she will then have to downsize. The oldest is going in September into his own flat.
I said I will help her in the Easter hols (she is a teacher) and see how we get on
I am going to carry on kondoing things as I know I still have clothes to goIts just bl**dy madness all the clothes I had when I started KM would have lived to be 150 years old to wear them all:o
I reckon 75% have gone but I think I could manage with another 15% of that gone leaving me with 10% of what I hadand still not have to buy anything for about 3 years.
Thats my thoughts :rotfl:and the other is dont run out of binbags like I have

Thanks for the reminder, I tried to get recycling bags last weekend but the council offices were shut. I'll try and get some today from somewhere local that's supposed to be a collection point, but if not I'll nip into town and have another go.Make £2025 in 2025
