Siebrie, I totally agree on the using things up completely before discarding ... I'm doing that with knickers, tho since 1 pair has a seam coming apart and a hole in the other side, they might have to go
Really came on to post that my electrical/electronic stuff has already been sorted - I meant to do it next week, but I was up at silly o'clock this morning, after an upsetting phone call last night, and I felt so much better after KMing things: 4 boxes, and 2 drawers of my desk went down into 2 boxes. Very, very pleased :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
I have calculated that we have saved about GBP 2,000 so far by using gifted clothes. We do tend to buy new shoes, as the shoes we are gifted are used and last about a week when my dds wear them. My dds do wear the gifted shoes, because I want the shoes to be completely finished before I throw them away (anyone else feel the same way?). The feeling of using something up completely, to get all the life out of it, and only then discarding it, is so rewarding!
I am with you Siebre regarding using it all until the pips squeak - clothes, shoes, pens, toiletries, cleaning products etc etc. Shelf in bathroom had 3 bottles upturned to get every last drop out. I always get every bit of the washing up liquid/shampoo etc - first upturned, then balanced open onto top of new open bottle and finally a rinse, both bottle and top, before it discarded. I can get every last bit of toothpaste/cream/ointment out of a tube. I HATE WASTE:rotfl:
My DDs were virtually clothed with second hand goodies up to being about 11 yrs - new school uniform underwear shoes and PJs. Even beyond that age they found getting new clothes strange and they are both avid vintage clothes shoppers now............:rotfl:Be the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

It seems counter to KM's method, but I don't care. I have found that as long as I keep the flow (acquire - use completely - discard appropriately) there is never a build-up of things. I know my stock, I can make my shopping list, and I guilt-freely discard. If I do have a glut of something, I actively work on bringing down the glut, I will not just discard because I have too much/many.
For instance: I have 15 hotel size bottles of body lotion. I do not use the stuff, but dh does. They used to be kept in my bedside cabinet, but I have moved them to the bathroom, easily accessible for dh. He is now slowly working through them. Before, he would insist we buy the brandname body lotion he fancies, but now he is fine with the hotel size bottles.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -
I kondo'ed some stress: my lovely dds had started to not listen to me, to only move when I got really upset and shouting. I got really angry yesterday evening and laid down some ground rules: I will only ask them once, I will no longer wait for them to get going; I will continue what I do and move unto the next item on my list. If they are not keeping up, I am not waiting for them. They are 7 and 4, so if they don't get out of bed soon enough, and take forever picking clothes (different ones from the one they picked before going to bed), I will no longer be in the bathroom the help them wash and get dressed. If they don't come to the table, they will miss the main course and be re-invited for pudding, but not extra-large portions. Next meal is tomorrow morning. This morning they were really well-behaved
Update: they are still better-behaved then before. I have to remind myself to keep my voice down when speaking to them, and it seems to do the trick. I was never one to shout easily, I don't know where it came from, and I'm doing my best to stop the habit.Are you wombling, too, in '22? € 58,96 = £ 52.09Wombling in Restrictive Times (2021) € 2.138,82 = £ 1,813.15Wombabeluba 2020! € 453,22 = £ 403.842019's wi-wa-wombles € 2.244,20 = £ 1,909.46Wombling to wealth 2018 € 972,97 = £ 879.54Still a womble 2017 #25 € 7.116,68 = £ 6,309.50Wombling Free 2016 #2 € 3.484,31 = £ 3,104.590 -

I am only just reading the book and this is my take on it, DH using up the lotion ie not wasting it, gives you joy ??? Yes. The fact you don't have to buy lotion, gives you joy ??? Yes.................very KonMari if you ask meDebt Free Diary - Second Chances! Life in a Tourer........Debt free, building a savings pot0 -
Aaah - Richard Shops! Bought my 'going away' suit there when I got married (mid 60's) a lovely dark blue/green boucle - those were the days lol!
I am feeling VERY joyful and skippy today. Had a chat with DH about the 'half a trike' that's been sitting in the garage, along with a spare engine and other bits a month or so ago. Put it on the bay of e and the tree of gum. Result!! collected yesterday - dosh going into the bank and DH clearing his garage up today has released a nice red plastic hinged box for me to use as a first aid box, a large lidded platic box with rope handles that i can use in the greenhouse and he used a spare set of plastic shelving of mine. Now,what else is he hoarding - sorry saving - that I can release for him???Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Kondoed two food items into the staff room today, had bough t a bottle of brown sauce not realising it had fish in it (why????) so no one here will eat it. Also had bought two packs of 'polish style' wafer biscuits first pack opened but no one was keen ds1 took them to work to offer round at break as some of his work colleagues are polish. Their response was why are they called polish style we don't eat these and they weren't keen either. Took the remaining unopened pack into work for the biscuit tin.
Started a book off the TBR shelf last night but realised as soon as I'd started I'd already read it. Got about 1/3 way in but can remember the story fully so I'm letting it go to the CS and starting another I've not read.
Stayed late after work and swapped the trees in the corridor over from Winter to spring. So bag of knitted leaves and blossoms went out of the cupboard and up.
Still no takers on the child's bike that was left on the park near our house, so that will be taken down the police station at the weekend
Have a joyful evening all the weather is really lovley here.SPC~12 ot 124

Afternoon all.
Work, returned library book, back home for the chazzer stuff, walked down to the chazzer and offloaded a carrier bag and the ali baba basket.
Yes, I was wondering about how charity shops will be affected if donors like me, on lowish incomes, suddenly become non-taxpayers. Although 'national insurance contributions' are just tax by any other name, and I already pay twice as much of them as I do of income tax, and will be paying more next month.
Only yesterday, I was standing in A.N.Other charity shop where I'm pally with the manager and a lady came in with several bagloads. They asked her about gift-aiding it and she explained she didn't earn enough.
Dad is still a taxpayer, although Mum isn't, and I have got him set us as giftaider at their local cancer chazzer so I think I will have to move to getting more of their stuff into that shop than bringing it up to mine.
Unless the stuff is a bit 'out there' - in which case I might bring it up to the city to get it before a bigger audience than their market town.
:j Two bagfuls of randomness left via freegle pickups from the outdoor hideyhole whilst I was at work today, one was the storage item formerly holding the other.
Isn't it great, get rid of stuff and it's so much easier than shuffling things around.:rotfl:
Hokay, going to kondo some groceries into my tea. Keep up the good work, lovely peeps. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

It'll be the anchovies that give it the depth of flavour, like Worcestershire sauce.2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇
