Thank you, keeping everything crossed here too :)

NSD weekend, spent saturday morning with the hoss, didnt ride just good groom and tidy up, smart hoss for now. Sister came round and filled in all the legal forms for the houses. Sunday had a lazy day, went to re-list ebay items but they have disappeared as over 60 days old :(, going to see if can get them back via ebay customer service if not means starting everything from scratch, lost the motivation, bah. Never mind will message ebay if not will try again soon. If I can list a few a day that will help, maybe not this week as manic.

So today CAB are coming round after work to help fill in forms for dads to see if he is entitled to any help. Tomorrow dad back to choir so picking him up, wednesday have to take him to podiatry appointment and friday got my own doctors apptmt for review of thyroid medication. All go but good to get all these things done.

So money wise have £24 left until payday, should only need £5 max and thats for misc car parking at the doctors, not too bad.

All bills done from bills account had £31 spare so sent to insurance fund, now at £366 :) Taken the £110 for car tax to pay today, on target with that so far. Have just redeemed first lot of rewards for the cashback account I have, just need that to land.

First barclaycard payment of the year as well must go update signature.

  • Great news on your sister's house. Hope your dad's gets an offer soon too. My parents are only in their late 60's but my mum's health is really not great. I would really like to get a larger house so they can move in with us but apart from not being able to afford it they won't move down here and there is no work for us up there. If mum does need to go into a care home there is a really good one my granda was in but I think mum would go downhill even quicker. Parents eh!

Thanks for dropping by, not so straight forward for dads, due to layout need to drop price slightly from feedback, still should be ok, just keeping everything crossed :)

Sorry to hear about your mum, hard decision to make, we are felling that too, be hard to move dad into a care home as will think he will go downhill but its so frustrating sometimes being there 24/7, all we can do is plod on and hope we are making the right decision.

So not a good day yesterday, CAB woman turned up 45 minutes early  so missed her, even though I was there half an hour before appointment time, so in theory she has re-arranged another appointment with dad, but have called and left a message and also e-mailed her as well to confirm. Sigh if people did as we ask and also we have written confirmation from dad that all correspondence be copied to my sister and me we wouldnt have half the hassle, drs are the other bugbear in this issue. One day we will get there, in the meantime need to keep calm and plod on.

Mums pension fund need originals of marriage and birth certificates, so NSD ruined today to pay £11 to get copy of marriage cert, so frustrating the red tape to go through these days. Rant over

Money wise had a good day, bought baking potatoes for £2, chewing gum large pack £2, paper for dad £1.40, dad has coupon for telegraph so minus £1.40, presented my waitrose card and because spent over £5 get free paper so another £1.40 off so total spent £2.60 :) Small things make me happy :rotfl:

Redeemed some more survey money just waiting for it all to land now.

Good morning, frosty and -3 brr but hossie wrapped in in fat rug and munching her way through a mound of hay.

CAB woman re-arranged so that should be ok. Bad night last night and spent £7 on takeaway, cold hungry and disorganised as nothing taken out of the freezer, nevermind moving on.

£8.50 received today from first batch of cashback from current account, sent straight to insurance savings :) Not bad return for less than a month.

Good morning, friday and payday :) Been a long time since the last one but have managed to eek it out somehow.

So checking up on insurance fund - target £1153
    Total so far £375
    Due in:
    £124 x 2 free months council tax
    £35 x 2 free months water bills
    So £460 left to find
Will be due £117 in expenses at the end of the month and £3 for survey money
So £340 left to find, got in theory until August as thats when last bit of money out but should be well on target before then :)

So above doesnt include interest earned, only a few pennies but all helps, also extras from budget underspend, not taking out of main account that I use, but of bills account which pretty much runs itself but always a few spare pennies left over, £2/3 odd but will help. Will transfer these at the end of every month :)

So well on target in theory to sort out insurance fund, next stop emergency fund, be good to have something tucked away for a rainy day.

So need to do a bit of shopping this weekend, few fresh bits needed, still lots in freezer and stores, trying to eek out grocery budget as much as I can. Need to dye hair but have that at home already, need to pay in some cheques for dad.

The house we want to buy they have other viewings this weekend so we may end up losing it :( We do need to get an offer on dads' house first, sister is still looking around at other properties that may be suitable, we just wait and see really. Trying not to worry, what will happen will happen and at the end of the day we could just scrap the house moving idea and think of something else, its not the end of the day, frustrating but whats the point in getting wound up about it. Lifes too short really.

  • As my gran would say "what's for you won't go by you". If the house is meant to be you'll get it. If you don't there will be something else better come along. When we bought this place we had put an offer in on another place that we thought we really wanted. We got beaten by a developer who paid half as much again as we had offered. Within a month we got the opportunity to buy this house off market potentially saving us and the sellers Thousands. It's in a better area than the other place and although needed work done - and still does although nowhere near as much as it did - it needed much less work than the other place.

The first place is probably worth a lot more than this place now but we realised we would never have been able to afford all the work it really needed. In fact the developer turned the cottage into a garage and built a whole new house in the garden.

Payday not until Thursday for me but I had forgotten about the council tax - thanks for the reminder

  • Good advice from scottishmummy I have a similar way of thinking, we looked at a house before Christmas that we loved but it's too soon to think about moving. Realistically we need a bigger deposit to get a better mortgage deal and we have jobs to do on ours before we sell it obviously isn't meant to be and I'm sure that we will find something as good if not better when we are in a better position to move forward.

Thanks for your reply too as above will just see what happens.

Horsey is good thanks, need to do some more work with her but her leg is healing well, still some scar tissue but hopefully that will fade over time as still early days :)

So weekend was ok, dyed hair so look vaguely smart again, sorted more paperwork for dad and forms for mum, seems never ending. Sunday cleared half my field of poo, I know thrilling but good exercise. Hard to do though when you have a horse in your face demanding attention or searching for treats, took me twice as long as it should have :rotfl: Then went to do a food shop, fresh bits, a few bits for dad, also bought myself a couple of tops as well :o, never mind its done now but have spent up to my budget so need to eek it all out for a month, will make do somehow.

    Good morning :)

CAB woman round last night, leaving blue badge for now as need more details after dads hospital assessment, filled in attendance allowance form, easily qualifies for this, fingers crossed gets this, CAB woman thinks no problem. So onto careline this morning to install some sensors in dad's house, extra smoke alarms, heat sensors and gas detector, last one is vital. Last night and a few days ago dad has cooked at lunchtime, even though we ask him not to, just fried a few bits and left the gas on all afternoon, walk in and the house stinks, dad says he cant smell it, its very worrying. We are going to try the sensors but if it keeps happening will have to cap the gas hob off and not let him use it, tough measures but needed for his safety. He has plenty of other food to eat at lunchtimes, microwave to use, my sister and I provide a hot meal every evening, its very frustrating to know the best thing to do, yes we want to let him keep a level of independence but not at the cost of his life possibly :( Argh so hard to deal with.

So onto the financial stuff which is what this diary is meant to be about, few more pennies withdrawn from survey sites, just waiting for it all to land now.

Worked out goals (non financial) for this year, not very exciting but keeping it simple:-
    • Clear Barclaycard so become debt free
    • Ex name of mortgage/credit report
    • Mortgage in my name only
    • Pay of ex any outstanding monies owed
    • Get rid of ex's stuff in loft
    • Reach all financial savings goals
    • Lose weight (not sure how much yet needed must get on scales)
    • Foreign Holiday
    • Decorate Hall including paint, pictures and possibly new carpet
    • Finish bedroom - touch up paint, wardrobe doors, pictures etc

So lots to think about, will see how it all goes :)
