just read through your diary (with a break for midsummer murders of course) you are doing so well and what I think about your OH doesn't matter, you can say what you want, but woe betide anyone who says anything bad about him, just keep true to yourself and keep plodding along you will get there, will subscribe

Welcome to my diary Anita and thank you for your advice.
Thank god it's almost Friday....need to chill this weekend. Although, not sure about everyone else I'm always planning to defrost the fridge or Vaccum under the sofas whenever I want to relax! No money to really do much but OH said he may treat to the cinema.
I have started tracking my calories and steps to see why I have put on 3lbs when I'm trying to lose a ton of weight, 2 stone lost since Jan 2015, and I hadn't realised how easy it was to over eat. Aiming for 1200 calories a day and most days eat over 2000! Oops! Am walking on average 5000 steps only...not much activity! Need to move more. To tackle this, i am the type of person who always needs a project, I have started walking down the stairs at work - 11 flights!!! First day today completed and felt energised or bored enough...to walk UP & DOWN! Come on slim body!! :-)
I have a question that I would like your opinion on...the rent that has been credited to my rent account because of inconvenience of moving out can be withdrawn next month, would you withdraw it and pay down the debt (this was my initial idea) or use it to fund part of a break in May for the both of us? I don't know what to do, on one hand at the end of this month I will have cleared the interest charging balance of the Halifax card and return to paying the minimum whilst I clear the nationwide card, so this extra £400 would go towards the nationwide card, knocking it under a £1,000. On the other is this selfish?Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730 -
Not at all selfish, do what your gut feeling tells you.

I would pay the debt as its money you technically already paid out so you won't miss it xxNEXT TARGET: Halifax credit card DEC 22 £0 / £4499.12POAMAYC 2011 £6378.35 POAMAYC 2012 £5000.78POAMAYC 2013 £3480.04 POAMAYC 2014 £4085.14POAMAYC 2015 £7565.24 POAMAYC 2016 £8000.90 POAMAYC 2017 £7278.80 POAMAYC 2018 £13208.18POAMAYC 2019 £13309.28 POAMAYC 2020 £15026.050

Hello!!!
Updated my signature this morning! Not bad for a month an half in. Also weighed myself and lost 2lbs of the 3lbs I gained. This is a good end to a good week. Second day completed of walking up and down the stairs.
Had to buy toothpaste today an some bathroom cleaner so spent £6 in the pound shop.
Met my friend an we went for a bite to eat, she paid £20 and I paid £8, she wanted to treat! Felt slightly guilty.
Have a good weekend!Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730 -
Afternoon, hope everyone had a nice weekend! Slightly under the weather today with a sore throat and cough, not the best time as I have a really busy week this week. Lots of travelling!
Weekend was good but felt like I just spent and spent! Saturday we had a bit of a rummage in the local shops for a toilet roll holder but couldn't find any and thankfully I resisted the urge to buy anything else. We went to the cinema in the evening and my OH paid but I brought the nachos and drinks.
I received the £100 refer a friend from nationwide so transferred that straight away to the Halifax card and called them up to ask how much the interest paying balance is now. £223.02!!! I'm so proud. Two months and it's almost gone, the interest balance sadly not the whole card, then I can start chipping away at nationwide. That means when I finally get my expense cheque this will be done for now as I'm due about £147 from that. Might just put it all on to round under the rest. I'm so happy. What a great end to a week!
That's all for now :-)Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730 -
Morning, sorry for my absence I have been off work poorly. Turns out I have a viral infection! Haven't moved this week so no money spent at all, which was needed TBH. No petrol used at all so start March with at least half a tank.
I get paid tomorrow so will be paying off some more debts then. Checked Halifax to make sure the £100 has been applied and it has! Hopefully when I get back to work the expenses cheque will be waiting for me to bank.
Have made a decision and decided to use the extra money to clear the nationwide card. Going to ring my housing association next week and see if the money has been credited for me to withdraw and put on that card.
Have a good day everyone!Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730 -
Hope your on the mend, OH has had a chest infection, seems to be a lots of things going around. Good luck with money busting xx0

Doesn't it scare you to think about what you used to do with the money? These little extras just going into the pot unnoticed and now they can be these big chunks to getting out of debt! It amazes me! And shows you how you've changed already.
You're getting there really quickly
Hope the rest of the house just needs a lick of paint to keep you happy xxxLoan 1 £5200/£8000
Loan 2 £300/£5800

Hello - Kitten yes it really is! It amazes me that I'm this much in debt, we can forget the car for obvious reasons, but I'm this much in debt and yet can afford to pay off £511 in two months whilst still living my normal life. If I can carry on, my aim of being debt free before 2017 will be a reality sooner than I think. I can't believe I can find money that I never thought I had to get rid of debt but it makes me feel so good watching it reduce. I have absolutely no idea what I will do once it's all paid with this extra money! We are painting the hallway come Easter weekend and then just the living room to spruce up, no rush.
Anita - thank you. Will be going back to work tomorrow, will be nice to get back to normality.
I have been reading other people's diaries and have noticed some people have noted their debt free dates. I'm not sure how I can work this out as its not a set amount every month. Only the expenses cheque for the Halifax card then minimum payment and then this month the following will be paid to the nationwide card;
council tax
£400 compo from HA
Refund from the toilet roll holder eBay (this has been done already!)
£200 money from OH
Total should be £600+ which should cut this in half!! :-)
This month will be tight again as its another busy one. OH's birthday, his birthday drinks at a friends, Mother's Day, baby shower and dinner with a friends and work colleagues. Don't really feel up to much as still trying to recover so hopefully minimum spends this weekend.Total debt when starting Sept 2021 - £14,629.61 / Current debt - £13,398.730
