I think it's good of you to acknowledge how much your OH has come forward and developed. I'm really pleased for both of you. Depression is horrible. To come through this shows strength and determination. Well done.
And yes £300 is fair as that is half... Nearly :) what's his beef with council tax? I can't believe your living expenses are so low! That's what I was meaning!
Well done on the overpayments. You wouldn't have done that before so it's all a step in the right direction.
    Give Nationwide a call for the £100. £64 to find!! :) x

Tjh1412 - thanks for stopping by. I got a lot of my ideas from here and started this diary to become accountable for my spending habits, writing in in cyber space somehow stops me from spending mindlessly. Good luck on your journey too.

My advice to you as someone who is having issues now is discuss it early. Sit down and have an honest conversation about the cost of your bills, how much you save/owe and your expectations for the future financially ie buying a house/car. Then ask him to do the same. My situation was that he moved out from his family house to mine but if your OH already has his own place I would think this may be easier....I would hope! You don't have to amalgamate finances straight away although some people may disagree with me. You could always open up a joint bills account for now or just let him pay you or vice versa. We have a joint savings account but have only really had that for a year to save for our house deposit.

Kitten868 - he has come a huge way along and that's probably why I'm not that hard on him...yet!! :-) I live in a Housing association property so the rent is very cheap plus it's a flat so lower costings than house. I think when I get a house we will be in for a shock how much we have to pay out!! Thank you so much for your support I really appreciate it.

Abba1772 - thanks for posting! I sometimes think I will end up being the co-ordinator in our house.

Paid £46.16 today towards Halifax which was difference in pay rise an left over money in bank from last months pay. Thank god it's pay day! Makes the motivation start all over again.

Have had a bit of a spending day today but well justified...I needed some new work trousers so went on the hunt and managed to get some in the sale for £4 from new look. I didn't try them on so checked the returns policy which is rubbish on sale items, if they don't fit I will sell them on eBay. I also thought I would have a look in house of Fraser and found some from Dorothy Perkins which I have got cash back on!! Becoming a master at the cash back thingy!! :-) the pot is now £3.50!

Stuck to having a shake for lunch and OH cooked spag Bol for dinner. I have also spent £29.98 on more protein powder but this expenditure saves me lots of money so quite happy when it lasts me three months or so. This one is double the last one so six months at £30 is £5 a month

Hope everyone's Monday went well. Yoga and bed for me.

Definitely stick to your guns and insist on half the bills being paid. It's good that he has recovered well and is making the effort to work now, but he can well afford to pay his way with plenty of spare money for him to enjoy himself. I wonder how he is going to face the responsibility of paying a mortgage when you eventually buy your house.

Moneywhizz - this is probably one of the reasons why I have delayed it so long. Other than him not working we have enough for a deposit but the mortgage would be huge. We are aiming for £10,000.

Kitten868 - thank you! :-) not bad for the first month!

I feel stressed and anxious today, not sure what has brought this on but feel like it's too much. Work is crazy busy and I feel like the days are just racing by. I'm disappointed in myself for allowing the situation to get like this, money wise I mean. If I didn't have this debt we could be in a nice house an be married possibly with children. Feel bad for even saying it as some people are in worse situations and I should be grateful for what I have. I also think it's got a lot to do with moving out on Sunday, everything is coming at once. Listen to me droning on...

Next two weeks are busy and I don't want to spend anymore unnecessary money. Have got a work get to get together on Thursday evening which is going to be a curry - budget £20. Friday I am working at a different office so the mileage will come in handy once I claim that and then Friday night I am visiting a friend of mine ( I no I said I wouldn't but it's on my way back, plus she's having domestic violence issues, not my story to tell!) Saturday busy packing up and we desperately need a paint colour for the bathroom - plan to buy this through cashback. Sunday, cats go to Catery -£120! OH is paying half, so he should! Taking more things to my moms. Have decided to wash the sofa covers and launder the bedding too. Busy bee!

Have checked the Halifax balance to see if the extra money had cleared and it has, so total balance £3,418.50, paying interest on £326.84. Lot less than £511.05 at the beginning of Jan! According to them I have officially paid the min payment already, which calculated at last statement was £43.64 but little do they know I am still going to pay this on Friday. That will mean I am going to be under £300 before Feb! Writing it all down makes me happier...how sad am I!

Still haven't heard from nationwide, have diarised to chase them on Friday, if not its complaint time! As soon as I get that I will be below £200 and my aim is at the end of March no more interest and everything will put onto the nationwide card. Actually no council tax means some more to put plus the eBay money...I better stop now before I get even more carried away.

Debt busting is so addictive. I might just start picking up the pennies from the street!! :-)

After all the stress today I have practised yoga and am now in bed. OH is mad at me but I'm just ignoring him!

    Night all.

Abba1772 - thanks, we decided to start saving last year and opened a nationwide account. Well done to you too. I am reading your diary at the moment, up to 2011. I have to say well done for the speed at which you tackled your capital 1 card. I'm sure you will do the same with the Barclaycard.

I spent £4 on lunch today from Gregg's. Thought I would treat myself after going on two visits for work. Came back to loads of stuff to do and feel slightly stressed now. Having a cheeky vodka to relax...

Not much happening on the debt busting. No more payments made until Friday when min Halifax payment is due, won't be taken so will transfer myself.

Trying to find a new place to get my hair cut as its really long at the minute and I'm in need of some pampering. If I get a bonus I have promised myself I will have a facial an maybe a new bag. The rest I'm putting on my card, probably the nationwide as Halifax interest balance should be gone by then.

Got a busy two days ahead, night all x

I didn't have to chase nationwide, got a call from them today to say that the details weren't pulled through correctly so they will do it manually and I should get the money before the 20th Feb. So no matter what at the end of Feb I will have paid at least £100 towards the Halifax balance plus any additional I manage.

Tomorrow before I travel I will transfer the £43.64 and because I over budgeted will just transfer £50. Can't wait to see what the interest will be this month, Hoping it's below £20.

Spent £18 on the curry which isn't bad including a tip. Didn't drink much only a glass of wine as I was driving. Not looking forward to tomorrow.

    Have a nice night everyone.
