I expect the shop will be cold too, which it has been recently. Our heating is controlled in Scotland, which is always very handy!!

I'm sorry you're having to work in such cold conditions:eek:. Isn't there still a national minimum workplace temperature?

I know there used to be one when I was working and they sent one department home (not mine worse luck:() because the temperature was below the regulated minimum. Made me smile because even that was a lot higher than ours at home when OH refuses to have the heating on:eek:

I was in Morrisons the other day and it was freezing in there. I asked the woman on the till if it was always like that and she said it was and the staff were always complaining about it. I've never known any supermarket be as cold as that, it was bad enough as a shopper but I feel very sorry for people having to sit at the tills for hours on end.

I'm sure you can sell the book. Do you like peanut butter??? If it's vouchers they would sell. You could always donate it to a local food bank??

Thanks everyone. Work VERY cold. Everyone said so, not just me. They got me a fleece in the end, but that didn't help my hands and nose, which were the worst. I have warned them that if I get ill, I won't be coming in. My throat is slightly sore at the moment, so will see how I feel in the morning.

I'm not sure about the peanut butter. Might be jars or vouchers, it was from a Twitter win. Entered it thinking my OH would eat it, but he doesn't like peanut butter (should have known that as I haven't seen him eat it in the 15 years I've known him!!).

If it's vouchers, I'll try and sell it. If not, I'll try to pass it on to someone I know, or drop it off at Tesco for the food bank. Not even sure what they class as a year's supply yet.

I'm going to list the book on eBay, but it's a very big book that I'm not sure will sell well. I've got an offer of just over £2.50 from one of the book selling sites, but will see if I can sell it first.

  • If you're on Facebook, Emz, you could try one of your local selling groups. I don't do it myself but I know lots of people who sell all sorts of thingson their local groups for good prices. As it's collection only you don't have the faff and expense of parcelling and posting.
  • If it's vouchers, I'm interested. I use half a jar to make a chocolate torte.

  • I hope you're OK, Emz. We haven't heard from you for a while:(

Do you have access to any platform that's broadcasting the Australian Open tennis?

I see my 2 favourite players ever (Lleyton Hewitt and David Ferrer) are playing each other tonight/tomorrow, next up after Andy on Rod Laver. Should be a great match with both of them always fighting to their last breath and Hewitt in his pre-retirement tournament and in front of a home crowd. It's one of those times when I don't really mind which of them wins. I'm gutted I can't watch it:mad:

    Hi CBC

Sorry I haven't posted. I'm okay, just been really fed up with work. It has been so cold there and where I had to work Weds-Tues with only Friday off, it was getting to me and making me feel rubbish. I'm in today 5-8, but then have 3 days off, so hoping I will feel better. It was getting to the point where I was going to ask to drop my hours because I was so frustrated. I didn't though, as I know it's just the cold getting to me and I would have regretted it.

I have been watching the tennis, although I haven't gotten to see a Murray match yet as he has been on in the early hours (I am watching the highlights from today as I type though).

I saw the Ferrer/Hewitt match. I was routing for Rusty, but he just couldn't keep up with Ferrer. Was very sad at the end and I did well up slightly. Ferrer did a lovely interview and Hewitt also had a chat on the court.

    Emz xx
  • I managed to hear the whole commentary of the Hewitt-Ferrer match on Radio 5 Live. Not the same as having visuals but better than nothing;)

So sad to see Lleyton call it a day but he should be very proud of all he's achieved. I know I, for one, will really miss him, I've been a fan for his whole career. He'll still be Australia's Davis Cup captain so let's hope he'll have some influence on mentoring some of the younger players. It's sad to see a country like Australia, who were such a dominant force in men's tennis for years, having so few top players nowadays.

Ferrer was really sweet in the interview and had a lot more to say than usual:j. He never says much as a rule, probably because his English is so poor. I'm surprised he never made more of an effort to learn as he's been in the top 10 for donkey's years and must have had to endure hundreds of interviews:eek:

    Stay warm x
