I'm behind get to think I'm borderline obsessive. I assumed everyone hung the roll over so they could make nice little pointed shapes on the first square like in hotel bathrooms - or do I have too much time on my hands??????

One hotel I stayed in made a flower with the first square - I'll admit to wasting some loo roll trying to recreate that before giving up!

Ah - daylight dawns. Is that why some loopaper is quilted? I did wonder - but have taken to buying 3-ply for that reason (ie now that its occurred to me that yer standard 2-ply seems to have gone as "thin" as dustbin liners/various other paper things compared to how I remember them being).

My cleaner always makes a pretty fold in the loo paper.

Hence why it would appear to be better-off households (ones not going to concern themselves with whether one or two extra sheets of loopaper get used:rotfl:) that tend to put it coming down the front.

Hence one of my reasons for the way I do it - because I don't wish to come over as being mean to my guests iyswim (all part of the having in "their" drinks specially for them being part of my definition of being a good hostess).

Pound land are selling 9 rolls of quilted toilet paper so you can pretend to be generous to your guests while really being a cheapskate
