We have relatives who bring their own brands of coffee and tea because they dislike our preferred brands.0

The computer would annoy me, as I wouldn't expect anyone to download anything to my laptop without asking. Having said that it's all password protected so they couldn't anyway

Regarding the vertical blinds, that's just a thing that happens. We have these blinds too (NOT through choice, I think they're awful and we're planning a ceremonial binning when we finally decorate) and they go out of alignment if someone so much as breathes near them. Ours are constantly out of place because of our cat and it's something you just have to deal with.0 -
I did turn down the heating a couple of degrees in my neighbours' house when I was looking after their cat over Christmas. But they'd left it on 24 degrees (with instructions to turn it UP if it felt cold!!) as there was a wall of heat when I went in. I did email them and tell them though.
I used to close their airing cupboard door when cat sitting as it was always left a fraction open and I thought it must have been accidental as why would you leave it open a tiny amount? It's been like that so many times though that I've taken to leaving it now. I know my neighbour opposite used to leave hers open as her cat liked sleeping in the cupboard but I know this isn't the case here.

Exactly. It might only seem a small thing, and people might think their way is the right way and yours the wrong way, but that doesn't give them the right to start fiddling. To all the toilet roll changers, don't do it, it's annoying. :mad:0 -

Now that is fair enough imo - its not altering the hosts' house. It depends on whether I feel they "ought" to have in my preferred drinks or no (ie because I'm a regular there). So - whilst living back in home county - I found it more than a little disconcerting that there was never anything I could drink at my parents' place (unless you count wine of course) and so I was always gasping for a drink as soon as I got back to my own home. Whereas I keep in tea and instant coffee for other people (including them) - despite not drinking them ever myself.
I think people aren't going to be that bothered about having to provide their own drinks when visiting somewhere (though they will be comparing about respective levels of making guests welcome if they need to do so - if they are someone who keeps in drinks specifically for others themselves). What annoyed me was the way my mother made me feel I shouldn't bring my own drinks (though she wouldn't provide suitable ones for me herself) - hence the "gasping for a drink" as soon as I got home every time...
I like to make sure my preferred drinks are in place anywhere if I can (without being criticised for it....) and will sometimes bring them with me. That way I know I get to have real coffee (strength 5) and lemon and ginger tea (gotta be Twinings:rotfl:).0 -
Several years ago we had a long weekend holiday and Nan & Aunt agreed to come in once a day to check the cat, feed her, change water and do litter tray. They are animal people themselves and Aunty has cats.
When we got home not only had the litter tray not been done (so poo on the floor not blaming my cat here) but they'd put up a hideous ceramic lampshade in our living room
