Hi everyone, it's a been so long. I missed you all!
I'm hoping to get back in the swing of things and hopefully stick around.
A few wombles to report this evening. This afternoon, I took DS1 and DS2 to Morris to give them a practical lesson on ys shopping. DS1 will be going to uni in Dundee this weekend (why do our babies grow so fast? It feels like only yesterday when he was wearing nappies and now he's flying off the next). We bought 55 items in total. DS2 said its the first time he's ever seen a receipt that long, and he couldn't believe it was only £13.58. To mention a few, the shopping included 2 packs of fish (called sprats) for 23p each, turkey meatballs for 23p, a luxury/signature bouquet for 30p, 3x bouquets of carnations for 9p, 2 aubergines for 9p, 1 kilo pack of tomatoes for 9p, a kilo of white onions also for 9p, Mr. Kipling apple pie for 15p, jam filled doughnuts (5 in a pack) for 25p, a pack of oxtail for 5, a pack of nectarines for 9p, mushrooms 9p, 3x fresh pizza for 65p (DS2 wanted to bag them at £1.99 but told him to wait a bit longer and Lo and behold a few minutes later, the price went down to 65p) and many more. I also earned 85 points on my more card, taking me up to more than 5000 points so after paying £13.58 I now have a voucher of £5 for my next shop. I also wombled two receipts with 320 and 20 points respectively. DS1 bought a 7.5 tog double duvet (the brand with the hippo in it) for only £6 (also ys and originally £12) and a duvet cover for £8 (originally £12), £10 saved. After the shopping I asked both DS's what they've learned from the experience and I nearly fell off the chair when DS2 said, "One thing I've learned is ys shopping takes too long and too tiring. I know, I have work to do on DS2 yet.
Last week, the family went camping to Gloucester and instead of going to expensive tourist destinations, we went to the park, the dockyard, the forest (all cost nothing) and instead of going to shopping malls we went to the car boot and the charity shops. We had lovely treasures for almost nothing from both the carboot and the charity shop. A few that I could remember from the carboot are books for 10p, mirror for £0 (vendor was giving away two for free) 3 x brand new neck ties for my hubby (Harods brand) all for £1, a French Connection cardigan, a Timberland cord skirt, and two other cardigans all for 50p each. From the charity shops I had loads and loads of vintage sewing patterns (all very trendy at the minute) unused and uncut for 50p, some used but good condition for 20p and another one that's totally brand new, unused, unopened and very recent for only 20p (I bought similar one from the shops not too long ago for £8). I also had 6 different types of fabric of different styles and sizes (one of the is 5 meters long) for a total of £6. The charity shop owner also threw in a brand new cross stitch chart for only 10p (originally £13)
As you may have gathered from the last paragraph I have been so hooked on the sewing malarkey, I have now made a total of over 30 different outfits (dresses and tops) and tote bags given to friends as presents since my first sewing lesson in September last year. A friend asked me to sew a Star Wars Jedi outfit for her boyfriend worn in a local comic con and the boyfriend was so pleased with the outcome he paid me £70 for the materials and labour (I only spent £20 for the fabric). I have been gifted with many fabrics and patterns I consider myself extremely blessed, I can't even begin to price the up to tot up my wombles.
Having been away for a long long time, I could bore with so much but I wouldn't. Just want to say, silent about wombling I might have been over the last few months, but I have been living it. OK, over the last week I have the following to report:

A jar of HM pickled onions - ditto above = 50p
A large jar of courgette and onion chutney (yum!) = 50p
1 jar of jumble-berry jam = £1
Two home-grown sweet corn cobs = £1
A big bag of runner beans = £2
A pair of brand new M&S black jogging bottoms for Small (perfect for school PE kit) = £7
20p roadkill
A further 10 kilos of Victoria plums...more to follow... = £10
Apples galore (got a glut ripening if I'm honest) value unknown!
20+ eggs from the girls = £2
I'm sure there's more, but I can't remember. I'm going to claim £25.20 for this week's wombling. I think I'm more of a forager really, and I'm loving the food swaps with friends - after all, there are only so many eggs and plums one can eat...

ETA total to date is £4482.050 -
Went to the beach last week and the car next to us just drove off and left 3 spades for the sand. They just left them on purpose by the side. My little one was over the moon. I'm thinking £3 for this womble. I've also been absent over the BH as went away to the Lakes and stayed in the most beautiful hotel where my BF proposed! I'm not going to put the hotel stay or the ring down as a womble as it just wouldn't seem right but just wanting to tell the world x0
