Snort at Tuppence. You just dont hear that nowadays do you. In fact I now have the 'feed the birds' song from Mary Poppins going round my head.
Oi - cheeky minx - I is still a young 'un :rotfl:
Glad to hear you got your knicks, F0xh0les. I was, indeed, concerned. You have my utter sympathies for having a carp cooker. We are still in the static caravan awaiting house restoration works to start and I have a propane [STRIKE]bread warmer[/STRIKE] cooker, which doesn't seem to have a thermometer. Raw or burnt? It's lucky dip time....
P.S. Your son has an excellent way of "accidentally" disposing of burnt offerings! Made me chuckle
500g of rosehips trimmed and washed, ready for processing into cordial when I can get out the buy some more glass bottles. Claiming 50p...0 -
Oi! the bits of cake I carved into perfect rectangles and iced was unconventional but tasty, judging by the speed the rest of the bits were scoffed by hungry DS's after school...
DH got his first credit card statement last night (he is building a credit history) he is like a 16 yr old, absolutely terrified of it.
Just got 2 YS Star Wars Stormtrooper towels for DS3 & DS4 who start swimming lessons with school on Monday (not free) reduced from £6 to £1.49
Now I have worked out I am spending £6 a day on our mortgage interest, I think I am going to have to join one of those 'make £5 a day' forums, or at least a 'save £5 a day on what you would have spent if your weren't trying to save £5 a day'.
And as for Tuppence, there was an Agatha Christie couple called Tommy and Tuppence, or something, it always made me laugh as my Aunt's favourite phrase when her teenage daughters were heading out the door for a night out was 'don't forget to keep your hand on your ha'penny'.
I can only think it is rhyming slang.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

Hi all,
Not really sure if below will be considered a womble but I'll share it anyway.
Last night we had a farewell meal for DS1 with my brother and his family. We went to an Egyptian restaurant and we availed of their lunch menu that runs til 7pm, 3 courses for £10.95. They didn't charge us for one of the kids' burger (£4.95) which was a gift for DS1 even though he wasn't the one who had the burger (it was huge!) and they gave us further 15% NHS discount. Total discount was £25! We only paid £82 for 8 adult 3 course meals and 2 kids with dessert. Not bad."There is Life AFTER DEBT."LBM 2009 Total Debt £49046.24 Debt Free as of 27/08/20150 -
I actually really like Tuppence as a name, from the Agatha Christie books, and would like to call my child it but I know what it's like to go through life with an old fashioned name. Saying that Florence does seem to be increasing in popularity.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020

Well, I bet she would be the only Tuppence in her year! My DS3 ended up with 6 other Dillons or Dylans in his year, and 4 of them were in the same class - apparently someone in Emmerdale had a baby and called it Dylan - we didn't know. I'd stick with Tuppence.4/10/22One Year Mortgage Free Yay!

My cousin recently told her MIL what tuppence meant and she was horrified but also found it hilarious. She spent the next couple of hours ringing all of her friends to warn them!!! Then she told us about when her mother used to send her to the bakers for a "flange" which she said was a bread loaf. There wasn't a dry eye lol xxx
Thanks again, to everyone who have sent congratulations - it's been so lovely. We have had so many cards and gifts given for the engagement it has just been such a lovely week - I will add a nominal fee of £5 to the wombling total.
Also to add - after the fall out of DD1 returning from the local music festival I had to have the double duvet laundered. My sister thankfully owns a laundrette (and yes she does DO duvets), she washed and dried it all for free including the feather pillow. Not a clue how much that would be so I will add another nominal £5.
DD1 gets 25% discount at the restaurant where she works so we got a meal for 4 - 4 mains, with 8 drinks and 3 deserts for £51 and the food is beautiful so I was very happy with that. £17 to add to the total.
Also another meal (I think we eat out WAY too much lately) BF and I went for a meal and I asked them to check the meal I ordered would be cooked dairy-free. They promised to check. The meal came and it was swimming in butter so I went back to check. The manager said "you should have checked before you ordered it" and when I said that I had asked them to she was lovely and they brought me another meal and gave me my money back which I thought was lovely of them. So a free meal which cost £9.00 to also add to the total.
total to add is £36 - it's amazing how it adds up.
We are being taken out for a meal by my best friend this evening to celebrate our engagement so I'm eating again!!!
Have a great weekend everyone - happy wombling. xxxx0 -
