Did my first APG womble - found a Mr A receipt at Mr T (?) yesterday so came home and put in the code, and got 59p off voucher! I shall do that again.

Wow Dizzy your innocent remark has certainly caused a talking point!

    Oops - sorry :o

I popped into The Range today to get some storage boxes, so I can sort through some of the carp in our attic room and they were on offer - £5.99 each or two for £9... I got 6, which was a saving of £8.94. :j

  • Hello all, just came back from a weekend trip to Dundee to drop DS1 who will start uni tomorrow. We didn't spend more than we budgeted for which was helped by a free lunch given to all 4 of us by a church we attended yesterday. We introduced ds1 to the congregation and they have been so warm and friendly. It would have been at least £40 for lunch for 4 but we were blessed not only by the free lunch but by good company. Today DS1 had a good run of wombling too. The university's chaplaincy department had a reuse/recycling program today, allowing new students to take items that they would need in their accommodations from the items that former students have donated or left. DS1 got an almost new laundry hamper, Teflon fan, Teflon pot, grater, colander, knives, mugs, glasses, clothes airer, cutleries, etc. There was a long queue from even more than an hour before they opened their doors. I didn't think it would be as popular as that. I though most of the students would want to have everything brand new and sparkling. How wrong was I. I thought we were one of the very few who had to source everything either free or really cheap. It's comforting to know that not everybody is shallow and materialistic. (That sounds really harsh and judgmental.)

TOG - get him to sign up to the local Streetlife page, there are always people offering things, and it is so easy to find out what events/ classes / activities are on locally. Load of students are on it where I am - I was really surprised - as well as locals.

  • I bought an Avon Bundle on eBay of 30ml Avon Anew Clinical Thermafirm cream, Make up bag, Lipstick and Shower gel for £4.49 including the P & P costs saving me £35.51 on the prices I would have paid direct from Avon. :j

My daughter found 34p outside the centre where we were celebrating my great nephew's 1st birthday and kindly gave it to me. :T (my roadkill finds are finally influencing her)

    #33 current total = £4272.04
  • I was at work all day today and managed to bag my 2nd NSD today. Had lunch with my friend and colleague (I had my LTW and she bought her lunch). She also bought me a cup of cappuccino (90p wombled) and 2 coffee beans on my staff canteen coffee loyalty card ala McDo. Only one stamp to go before I can have 1 free cup of coffee. Because I rarely buy coffee, the only chance I could have to get that all important coffee is if somebody buys me another cup. Hopefully soon. Around mid afternoon, I felt quite peckish so I took £1 coin from my purse with the plan of buying a bag of maltesers, only to pass by our staff room and see that somebody has brought in a big box of homemade cupcakes. I helped myself to 3 tiny cupcakes and saved my £1. Sweet cravings sorted, £1 wombled.

I bought some curtains from 4rgos in the sale, big long ones for £10 a pair, not thermal, but cheap enough to buy 2 packs, so there are 4 curtains in all so the extra fabric should do. Then I tried to get some extra curtain hook things, oh dear.... they are not the 'new' size, and I could not find any in 'my' size in Argos, Wilko, the local hardware store, and the man in B&Q said no chance, just change the whole curtain rail. Now the curtain rail is in a bay window, and I really didn't fancy it, so I got on to my trusty local Streetlife group, and asked if anyone knew where to get any, and within 5 minutes, someone said they had some in a jar and I can have them.

So if anyone laughs at you for your womble stash of buttons, or Ikea fixings, or screws, or curtain fixings, you know better! You could really help someone out and save them masses of money. Gotta love a womble!
