My son kindly gave me his scratchcard with a £2 win
He also gave the waitress a £5 cash tip when we had lunch at Pizza Express as I had no ready cash in my purse and we are both aware that individual waiters and waitresses will have to put tips paid on debit and credit cards into a tip pool and almost certainly never receive them.
My son is a chef in a Hotel and they have a tip pooling system and he and the other staff are regularly cheated out of their tips unless they are given cash. They are supposed to receive their year's worth of card tips from each April to April year six month's after any qualifying year in December. If you join the company within a year, you are not eligible to receive any of your card tips for that year!!!!Last December the staff in his Hotel who were eligible were each given £20 as their share of their year's card tips!! They were totally ripped off! He has also worked for Pizza Express in the past and they have a similar tip system to this Hotel.
A bottle of sparkling water and a small carton of sweet popcorn bought for me at the Theatre Royal £5.85 by my son

The harvest has started in earnest...
11 kilos of Victoria plums from our second plum tree. Looking at the ones I froze from a few weeks ago, they were much darker purple and rounder, so I think they may be Czar variety. Stronger flavour too.
Only one local farm shop is currently selling Victorias for £3/K, so claiming a womble of £33. Also, swapped some eggs with my friend for an armful of rhubarb, a massive frilly lettuce and a big bunch of fresh rosemary, which I think I'd value at around £4.50 in total.
I have other wombles to report, but need to calculate my haul. Late summer/autumn is definitely my favourite time of year.0 -
