What are our rights playing the drums?

Dunno why anyone could possibly think this a troll post. I have the utmost sympathy. My wife is so inconsiderate with noise and buys me similar idiotic presents.
The racket just now is appalling. There are 12 Drummers Drumming right outside my window, all tuneless. The Eleven Pipers Piping are from an Irish brigade, and they insist on marching up and down, whatever anyone says, and then there are the Ten Lords a Leaping, bang bang ... Thump. One is even wearing a pink bra and leather jacket. Nine Ladies Dancing wouldn't seem too bad, aside from the wolf whistles from the drummers and Lords. The Eight Maids a Milking.... Blimey, she does buy the most ridiculous presents, my wife. Moo clang clatter, and the piping has curdled the milk. What about her Seven Swans a Swimming? Mute! Chance'd be a fine thing. Hissing and flapping and honking.Six Geese a Laying should be quieter, right? Right? Ever heard a woman in labour whisper? Five Golden Rings clanging like chainmail, Four Calling Birds - screaming Parakeets she got me, the biatch. Three French Hens spend their days shruggung their wings and hissing distainfully at my dress sense and cooking ability, while Two Turtle Doves whoop and coo at all hours, cra pping on my head. There's also some bloke up a bush shouting Ahhhaaa at the top of his voice, and I've no idea what that's about.
Drums. My neighbours would kill for drums.... So, I believe the OP.
....and I can't sort out the formatting below on my phone.... Damn!0 -
Daft, brilliant!0

Thank you DaftyDuck, lovely.
I imagine the OP will do exactly as he pleases so, in case he drives his poor neighbours out in the next few weeks, I should be eternally grateful to know where he lives as we are househunting and no way do I wish to live near such a selfish wombat.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
ignores answers
repeats questions
demonstrates recurrent inability to accept other viewpoints
I think this observation on a previous thread started by the OP is rather sums up the value of his threads....

Look, I have no idea whether you are a troll or parent of an autistic child or not.
The reality, is that your question was posed really badly as 'rights' implies something quite different to a person trying to ensure they do not want to inconvenience their neighbours - it reads as 'how far can I go with this until it affects me!'
The 'anti noise brigade' that you refer to, have advised on links and other methods whereby you could limit the noise your neighbours will have to endure, whilst you encourage your child as you see fit. I hope you take a moment to look into them.
As someone who has been on the other side of noisy neighbour behaviour as you stated earlier, you should be the poster child for how to conduct yourself in a manner that is agreeable to others.
Just because it is music does not make it enjoyable or mitigate sleep deprivation or disturbance
Perhaps you could start a local centre group based around music therapy for children who may find it beneficial and provide more social opportunities for him/them in the process? You sound like you have musical experience and ability yourself.0 -
Have you been in your neighbour's house(s) when your son is playing the drums?
Perhaps if you heard the noise they have to put up with, it may make you reconsider.0 -
So I really wanted to know from drummers amateurs or professional what the law says. Rather than the anti drummers on this forum.
I played the drums for over 20 years. You're going to lose. Get your kid a decent Roland e-kit for the sake of your neighbours' sanity and for the sake of your kid's hearing too.
I can't believe that you think there is a law to allow acoustic drums to be played in a built up area? A snare drum gives off around 120db (much louder with a rim-shot) and decent cymbals are around 150db.
All that will happen is a council bloke with a db meter will measure the db level in your neighbours house and outside too. After that, it's game over for you.
Get your son a Roland e-kit such at a TD-9KX and/or above with the real feel skins. There is no excuse in this day and age to play acoustic drums in a built up area.0 -

No not yet but sensible suggestion, when they come round and talk to me.The reality, is that your question was posed really badly as 'rights' implies something
I wondered where all the animosity in this thread was coming from. There is no excuse in this day and age to play acoustic drums in a built up area.
We live in the country with fields but a Cul-de-sac with semi-detached houses. Again I wondered where all the animosity in this thread was coming from. People seem to have made all kinds of assumptions.
Oh dear.0 -
A child enjoying themselves is one thing but drums !!!!!!.

I find the competitive noise of a playstation very disturbing so drums would most likely send me over the edge.
