Money maker- I have one of those little trees in a dark corner of my living room. I use it all year round except at Christmas (strangely) when I put it away while the Christmas tree is up! It throws out masses of light.

Murie I finally got my 3week pile up of ironing done this morning, however I will pass on the extra as I'm not the biggest ironing fan I'm afraid lol!

Had a lovely day with my friend and her 3wk old DD, we went for some lunch and a little walk round town and then just relaxed at mine watching Big Bang Theory repeats.
We got our wedding album back last week - I can't believe I forgot to mention this - it is so beautiful We are really happy with it. So nice to look back through, can't believe it's been 8 almost 9months already!
I'm going to have my sewing lessons next month with the voucher my mum & dad got for my birthday. I can take my own machine which is really handy. Just need to book them and decide what I want to make. If anyone has any suggestions if something simple? My cousin had some and she made a cushion cover & reversible tote bag.
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

  • Just quickly popping in to ask a question of those who are crafty.

Currently thinking about making candle holders for tables for Christmas, will get some MDF cut, which I will decorate once the hole for the candle is cut out. Know it is early, but do Hobby Craft supply holly stencils?
A smile costs little but creates much :)

GTQ,Hobby craft probably do holly stencils but I doubt they will have Christmassy stuff out 'till September time.I find them quite expensive.Look on eeeeeeeeeeeeebay stuff from China costs pence and arrives in 2/3 weeks.

Newthrift, cushion cover and tote bag both sound good.A small quilt is doable, its only straight lines and a bit of fidling about.Ask the person who is teaching you your best options.Have a look on pinterest, there are millions of ideas.

MM what a bargain with the little tree,I am thinking of getting one for my MIL but I'm unsure she is a bit difficult to buy for.

Nothing Christmassy apart from I am making a Christmas log cabin patchwork cushion.

    Laters Vx

I can’t believe I went AWOL again! When I posted last time I was determined not to leave it days before coming back on again but life does get in the way! I made my life busy this week by starting a blog, I just had a sudden urge to write one! I’ve always loved writing but wasn’t really interested in doing a blog, but then overnight one night it popped into my head and then I was desperate to do one! I don’t know if anyone will ever read it but it’s nice to do something for myself. On Wednesday I went back to my old town to see my old friends for the day which was really lovely and not as emotional as I thought it would be thankfully! It was also DH’s birthday yesterday so I was busy sorting presents etc. I’m glad it’s Friday now!

Happy belated birthday OMO! _party_ I hope you had a lovely day.

Peppapig I’m so pleased to hear your honorary DD had a healthy boy, that’s wonderful news!

newthrift I don’t think I would ever have a baby if I watched One Born Every Minute! I’ve always had a bit of a phobia about birth. When I was pregnant I couldn’t help myself, I then tried to erase it from my memory! :p Ah I bet it’s lovely to have your wedding album and to flick through it. We didn’t have one as part of our package as I thought it would be cheaper to do myself, however I’m ashamed to say 3 years on I still haven’t done it!! I hope you enjoy the sewing lessons – I like vulpix’s suggestion of making stockings!

Money Maker thanks for the heads up on the LED tree.

murie how are you doing now after your fall? I hope you’re not as sore as you were!

Feisty if you’re managing to get on to read this I hope you are all doing ok in your house. xx

    Hi all,

Well, I'm back from Malta. It was the most fabulous place. Within hours of landing all four of us were totally smitten and determined to return. I have never felt like that before. We visited lots of historical places- Very MSE as we bought a weeks bus ticket, which gave unlimited travel, and also a Malta Card. This gives discount on loads of entrance fees eg 2 4 1 and huge discounts on restaurant prices. We ate in some very salubrious surroundings, including Browns on Valetta harbour on our last night. There were 4 starters and 4 mains- including 2 steaks, a bottle of wine, 2 beers and 2 cokes. It came to £80 in total!!!!!!! We also booked for a boat trip to Gozo which was oversubscribed so we were given the option of going on the speedboat instead. A 2 hour trip took 20 mins! It was exhilarating but we did suffer the the next day as we had been bounced about the boat so much our hips and knees were aching, but it was well worth it. I later found out that if we had booked the speedboat trip it would have cost 25 euros each so another great saving. We sailed back which was much more calm :)
The bars were quite cheap too and I sampled some very nice gins :)
I did buy a bottle of Grey Goose vodka and a bottle of Southern Comfort for my Christmas stash and these were very cheap too :)
I also bought a beautiful hand blown glass Christmas tree, complete with glass baubles to add to my decorations- Not very MSE at all but as I had saved so much money on other things, I didn't feel guilty. I did think of you all as I was paying.
    I can't wait for a return visit.

Congratulations on the new baby, hugs and healing wishes to those who need then and all please help yourself to a virtual cheese scone, warm from the oven

Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
    Loving de-cluttering

Newthrift- aww shucks! I have been bagging all my ironing up for you in the hope that you would take it off my hands! I know this sounds weird but I really don't mind ironing- I find it quite relaxing (goes off to hide in the loony corner!). Its lovely looking back at your wedding album isn't it? I get our wedding album out every now and again and Im amazed that time has gone past so quickly- 30 years in September! We had another one made for our 25th anniversary blessing and tried to have few photos that re create the original ones (except in widescreen format cus we have all put a bit of weight on since those days lol!) Hopefully we will get to have another one made for our 50th. I second Vulpix about making stockings at your sewing class, that's a lovely idea that will last for years.

GTQ- is the stencil to cut the MDF ? If it is, would a large holly pastry/cake cutter do to trace round? Again I second Vulpix in looking on eb*y, especially if you aren't in a rush for delivery.

Princesskitty- Im glad you are settling in to your new town and that you have a new interest! It doesn't matter if anyone reads it as long as you find it enjoyable to write , Im sure you will do it brilliantly x Thank you for asking about my arm, its still way more painful than I am happy with but I do have a little bit of movement slowly coming back. Unfortunately DD has very kindly given me her cold and every time I sneeze it jars and hurts like mad. Kids eh, they can be sooo generous!!

    take care everyone x

MONEY MAKER My tree from Amazon arrived this morning courtesy of my free prime trial and I'm really pleased with it. Took me a while to put all the flower shades on the lights but very worth it. Can't believe it only cost six pounds something.:j

MITNURSE it sounds like you had a fabulous time. My DD is going to Malta with my little DGD so hope she loves it as much as you all do. Well done on the glass Christmas tree, it will bring back holiday memories when you get it out each Christmas so definitely worth whatever it cost.

PRINCESSKITTY well done on starting your blog - I'd be interested in reading it. The ideas I have at night are always rubbish when I think about them the next day so good on you for having one that still makes sense.

GTQ I think VULPIX is right, the shops probably won't have Christmas stencils out until later in the year but there are bound to be plenty on eBay. Hope we get to see some pics when you've done them.

NEWTHRIFT I think sewing lessons is a lovely pressie. I learnt at school and although I wasn't the best at taking instructions I must say I've used what I learnt a lot since then.

MURIE you seem to have gone a while without duffing yourself in any way, are you ok? :D

Well we finally bought a new television. Our old one has a black blob across the middle of the screen which we've got used to but which tends to freak everyone else out. We put it on the stand but have t been brave enough to actually plug it in yet lol.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :
