Afternoon my lovelies, well after having the worst 10 days of pain and sickness i think i am finally on the mend, the kids dragged me kicking and screaming, it took 3 trips to 911 out of hours emergency but i am so glad i did, i cant believe how much better i feel already, am on antibiotics and sickness jabs but i know its going away so i can cope now. I have to say i have never really understood 911/A&E but omg they did a fabulous job with me, so thorough in what they do, i really am very grateful, but it has to be said a simple test weeks and weeks ago from my own gp would have saved me getting so ill  Today i am trying to take it easy but also catch up on everything, replying to messages, sorting my emails out, getting my DN birthday card in the post (a week late ) sorting the post etc.

PRINCESSKITTY glad you are really throwing yourself into groups/activities with wiggle you sound so much happier :)

CHRISSYG love that you have all cards gifts sorted for the rest of the year, and how fab for DD another trip to the caribbean

PEPPAPIG congratulations to HDD and DHGS how wonderful for you all, i hope your chemo has gone well again for round 2, i love that your tv was out on the stand but not plugged in yet :rotfl:

MURIE are you still in really bad pain? I was hoping you would have some relief by now :(
    those canapes sound amazing!!!

VULPIX i would die if people stopped to chat to me in the front garden :rotfl:i dont even like the neighbours coming out if im out there!!!!! You seem to be ready for Canada now, with the packing! Is the garden building work all finished now?

MRSINVISIBLE wow 3 weeks to go, you must be so excited!

SALMAGUNDI wow i cant believe you remember the owl cake that was a year ago!!! Because i was so ill i never got to taste my cake or my DS cake made by DD2 :(

PINKSTEPS i hope you got my birthday message on FB i got to the point where i couldnt even pick my phone up to check over the weekend!

Oh my goodness Free! i am so glad that you have found someone to help you.Fingers crossed that you are well and truly on the mend now.

I hate having to almost kick off to get anywhere with health issues,it's grim just when you feel ill too! I had it today,Mr V went to collect my prescription and it had been lost again.Phoned the GP and the receptionist was passive aggressive.I have been with that practice 57 years but am considering moving. The Doctors are great but I dread trying to get past the receptionists.

The wall is partially dismantled and should be finished by the time we get back from Hols.

    Peppa,heres a special hug for you whilst I am away.Love to all,see you in a couple a weeks.Vx

vulpix - that's a great idea to do a Christmas stocking thank you!! My new dr's are better but my old one thing receptionists seemed to think they had some qualification to diagnose you and by ringing up I was wasting precious time!

princesskitty - haha I occasionally cross my legs and question why I'm watching it :p glad you are settling in to your new place and have a new interest :)

Nitnurse - glad you had a good time in Malta, it sounds lovely!

    murie - oh wow 30years that's fantatsic!!

GTQ - people really do take the biscuit sometimes! I'm not surprised you need the coffee.

Free - Glad to see you back and on the mend!!

Sorry I have been a little AWOL the past few days, I have been reading though. I'm glad that summer seems to be arriving again! Currently the sun is shining through my window and I can hear the birds singing which is really nice :)

Morning! The sun is shining, the birds are singing here too Newthrift, and hopefully (fingers crossed) all is well (or at least getting there!) with everyone x

DD has just coloured my hair and this afternoon we are off to a garden centre for a mooch and afternoon tea, Its the first time I have really been out since I fell so I'm a bit apprehensive. Still the lure of plants and cakes will be plenty of encouragement!

Peppa- hope all went smoothly yesterday xx

Vulpix- I really value our NHS and feel we are so lucky to have it but I do think GPs surgeries need constant reviews. The last FOUR times DH has submitted his repeat prescription for insulin they have either got it wrong or missed it off completely! Then its a case of waging war with the receptionists to get it sorted- I am beginning to think that they are specially trained in confrontational patient liaison skills. (I apologise in if anyone is a Drs receptionist!), ours aren't passive aggressive- they tend to go straight for the throat!

Nitnurse 2 sounds as if you had a lovely time in Malta! When we went on the ferry to Gozo DH 'discovered' he suffered from sea sickness- needless to say he wasn't overly keen on the trip back either, but Gozo itself is lovely.

Newthrift- yup 30 years! I cant quite believe it either its been touch and go a few times but on the whole we haven't done too badly. I have amassed an amazing array of naughty words to mutter under my breath to vent my frustrations over the years- I may yet write a book lol!! 'The independent wife's guide to getting her own way and having the last word!' - what ya think??!

DH's work is quiet today so he has gone to Moms to cut her football pitch sized lawn. Some of you may remember me saying that he is somewhat 'challenged' when it comes to anything other than a pc, so goodness only knows what her garden will look like when he has finished! He has only ever cut our postage sized lawn about 10 times and each time something goes wrong with either the mower or the strimmer, I am expecting a call any moment now from mom saying he's blown her mower up!

I hope today is lovely for everyone and that the weather continues to improve as it tends to lighten all our moods (she says even though she hates the heat lol!)

Afternoon everyone, special hugs to those going through really tough times at the moment, while i was sorting things out yesterday i had an absolute pile of flipping receipts for prescriptions over the last month, it has come to nearly £100 and a few of them i had to stop taking anyway, what a waste, dinners are going to be severely budgeted for this month!! I was also surprised that i had enough for another survey payout amazon voucher (seen as i have been so ill to even pick the laptop up let alone do surveys??) so ordered two more things for Thumpers christmas presents, a Dinosaur DVD and a Dinosaur playmat i think i only have £5 more to spend on him and that is him finished, which makes me very happy.

    MURIE thankyou my lovely

VULPIX yep me too that is half the reason why it takes me so long to make an appointment its having to deal with them first, tbh there are a couple of lovely ladies but there is one or two who need a course on customer care, the trouble is it puts people like me off ringing. Glad it will all be ready by the time you get back, have an absolute fabulous time, look forward to hearing all about it when you come back

NEWTHRIFT thankyou :) how are all your veggies doing? Do you know what i have actually just stopped everything to listen to the birds outside, we should do this kind of thing more often everything is just taken for granted and it makes you stop and think and appreciate life for 5 mins

MURIE oh i hope you have a lovely afternoon out with DD it will do you so much good and you deserve it x

Lovely to have you back FREE and so glad you're starting to feel better. I have a soft spot for NHS111 because I project managed the procurement and setting up of it in the area I used to work in. Not all areas have the same quality unfortunately but when it works well it's unbeatable. I absolutely love anti sickness meds so very glad you've got them. Have you looked at a prepayment certificate for your prescriptions? It's a biggish payout to start with but I think they say if you take more than a couple if different meds it works out cheaper than paying each time. DD does it that way and my DH used to but he's on oldie now so gets them free. Actually I get them free too now I have cancer - not exactly win-win but every cloud and all that lol.

MURIE you always make me laugh. I think I'd read your book too. Hope DH leaves some lawn behind for your mum!

That hug is much appreciated VULPIX. Hope you have a fabulous time.

Chemo was ok yesterday although I did feel quite grotty last night but think that was because I didn't feel that great going in, had a headache and was really tired. Feel much better today so fingers crossed it stays that way.

We've had our new front door fitted today and I love it. Very sad to be so excited about a front door but it's just what I was hoping it would be. It's a composite door because our wooden one just didn't fit properly but we live in a conservation area so have kept the same style and colour as before so it doesn't look too modern just really nice.

Nice sunshine here today too after the torrential rain and thunderstorms yesterday evening so hope everyone is able to enjoy some sun too.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Thanks Free- had a lovely time but didn't go to the garden centre in the end. We went to a little pub by a canal and had a lovely lunch- not good for the diet but good for the soul to be spending quality time with a loved one x

Peppa- wow mrs you are pushing that boat well and truly out! A new TV and the new door! Its not sad- I get stupidly happy if I find something that restores the originality of our home. When we moved in we ripped out beautiful Victorian fireplaces and coving etc cus we were young and wanted to put our own stamp on the place. Now we are a (ahem) little bit older I realise that those features were what made the house special and 'comfortable'. I'm gradually re introducing them albeit in a more up to date way. Im glad that you are feeling brighter today, fingers crossed you are brighter and better still tomorrow x.

DH 'scalped'the lawn according to mom so it wont need cutting for a week or so. I came back after lunch to find he has 'cleaned 'out the pond in our garden!! He is on a roll! Problem is that the pond didn't need cleaning out- the frog and newts have to find somewhere else to live for a while cus he hasn't filled it back up! He says he is going to scrub it out tomorrow if the weather is fine, All I asked him to do was to clean the pump out if he could!! Not take the garden apart! Oh well, he is trying to help I suppose, the garden is my domain usually but as I am a bit incapacitated he is trying to take the strain off. Gotta love him (sometimes!)

Hope everyone is OK and enjoying the weather xx

Peppa I am glad that your chemo went ok today. My GP receptionists are a bit snooty but I think if you are polite and don't back down, they aren't that bad. Just don't let them win, I have had a few bad experiences with the receptionists and on them occasions I had to physically go up to the doctors to be seen and refused to leave, as the receptionists said there was no appointments and didn't believe that I was allowed an emergency appointment. By the way I have multiple chronic illnesses and am unable to tolerate certain medication. But I did mention the incident regarding receptionists to my GP and now there is a note on my records saying that if I ring up I need to be seen or have a phone consult. So it may be worth mentioning your problems to your GP and see if they can come up with a solution, I now don't have any problems.

On the Christmas front I saw in Holland and Barrett that faith in nature do a natural shower gel for men, so I will be getting that for my grandad as he has allergic reactions to most shower gels. If I have loyalty points nearer Christmas I can get it reduced down.
