Good morning all! I’ve got a friend visiting from Barcelona at the moment which is nice, she stayed last night and we’ve got the day together today. Hopefully it will be dry as I wanted to take her to the woods today but it’s looking a bit grey outside. Although that doesn’t mean anything – the weather has been all over the place lately! I had five minutes of Christmas yesterday as I gave her her Christmas presents, always strange giving presents so late! She is a lucky lady and is still lying in bed, she doesn’t have a Wiggle like me, I’m currently on the sofa watching Peppa Pig! I wouldn’t swap it for the world though.

freespirit sorry you have to wait so long again for your next appt but as I’m finding at the moment the weeks are flying by! I hope they do for you.

newthrift well done on passing your first aid course! I hope you won’t need it either but I’m sure the knowledge is invaluable. I hope you manage to get your heating fixed soon.

murie I read an article last week that said we were going to get 30 degree weather this week – not sure where they got their information from!! Although it did get quite warm here in the afternoon yesterday. Hopefully it will get warmer and spur your DH to finish the pond!

mrs-moneypenny I’ve been thinking about you recently as we haven’t heard from you in a while, glad you are ok.

Treasurequeen wow that top was a bargain! I hope it fits well and you have a lovely time out.

l keep looking skyward in the hope of a 'bit of blue' washing is out but hanging limply.
Last night l was making tea and looked out of the kitchen window to see at least 20 young blackbirds on the grass, flying into the rowan trees, then back down. lt was a lovely sight, so glad they got reared successfully, as there are a pair of magpies and some rooks around.
Then this morning my lovely neighbour offered to take DGS to school for me as she is on supply there today. Such a lot to be thankful for, and l don't have to look far for it.
Washing load 2 is going out now, and l will insure Nev-the-shred, car online then if the blue sky turns up, l will get out into the garden and fill some more pots and troughs.
Hope everything is good and getting better for all of us, virtual coffee and chocolate fingers all round.

Princesskitty- I had the Ciate advent calendar last year and some of the polishes were a bit hit and miss- streaky etc even after a few coats. That is a good price though.

Mrs I- sorry- the sun is here!! I'm debating trying to pot a few small pots up (without DH less than expert assistance) but I wil have to see how I go after I have tackled the major job of dusting as everyone here is allergic to the duster and polish it seems . Since I've been out of action it only gets done when/if I remind them - they are good about most things but the dusting skills elude them for some reason!

That was lovely of your neighbour, its true we all have a lot to be thankful for in the greater scheme of things, even better when its on our doorstep xx (can I have a French Fancy instead of a chocolate finger with my coffee please ?)

  • Hi, after the drama of the last week, things are now settling. I have a lot of furniture arranging tomorrow, 3 wardrobes, bed, desk is making the dining room into a bedroom for ds2, then new furniture arriving for youngest DS and my brother has told me he's coming round at 6am as its his only free time so can I have the wardrobes etc empty by then so he can help move. Now I am usually up at that time, but not this week please and I've realised there are bloomin Christmas presents hidden in the cupboards that need moving. I can see me sleeping for the whole of Sunday.
Lots of lightening here tonight but no thunder

Murie, of course you can have a French fancy. (the beauty of virtual is that you never run out of anything!)
Half term has begun, a whole week, will need to find things for DGS to do.

Been up since 4.30 - couldn't sleep so thought I might as well get on with some stuff.

Had two lovely days weather-wise with lots of time outside so hoping for more of the same today. MRSINVISIBLE I was having a quick cup of tea in the garden yesterday, it was sunny and peaceful and the only sound was the birds. A blackbird was hopping about on the grass and I suddenly thought it really doesn't get much better than this - was a real moment and made me feel very grateful.

Seeing the littlies today and then hopefully finishing the tubs in the front garden. Also popping into the vintage fair in the village (prob take a few mins, it's only a small one in the local hall) so feeling very happy.

Hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend whatever you're up to. Fingers crossed for good weather and good roads for anyone travelling.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Weather today has been beautiful!! Have made the most of it doing lots of little things- hope everyone has been able to do the same x

Peppa- bet you enjoyed the littlies and the vintage fair, I have potted the rest of my plants too today.

On Thursday I watched a family of sparrows on the bird table. It was obviously one of the babies first flights and a couple of them were very fluttery and unsure, one baby in particular stayed on the table for about 20 minutes. He kept trying to fly off but was too scared. the parents kept coming back to him and they were feeding him. He eventually flew to the pergola that runs along the back of my kitchen window so I could watch him being fed there by his parents who took it in turns. They were trying to encourage him to fly but he wouldn't have it! He looked so comical- had a really wide 'mouth'- looked like he had clown make up on! Eventually he managed to fly off with his parents but they have been back today and he is miles more confident. I felt privileged to be able to watch them from about 3 feet away, it was so sweet and quite emotional really in a strange way.
