MURIE glad the birthday weekend went well. I've got my mum, littlest DGS, DSD and DD1's birthdays before Christmas but got all pressies now (thanks TREASUREQUEEN got the magnifying lamp today) so still very much focussed on Christmas.

MRSM you must have lightening fingers to get all your knitting done so quickly. It takes me forever to do even the smallest project. I live snow too, the idea of a white Christmas is so lovely and I love being snowed in (with a full freezer of course).

CHRISSEY so sorry to hear about DD's fit, it must have been such a knock back for her confidence after having such a good run. Hope she can focus on how lng it's been since the last one rather than the blip but I know it's much easier said than done.

MISSMOOSE I bought two more tree decs today in anticipation of my new bigger tree. Glad your proof of free service popped up again - I hate not being able to find things, especially when it's something that'll save money.

Apparently according to the Met Office (on yahoo home page) we are in for artic weather- mmn maybe, maybe not! I love the snow when I am indoors but I hate driving in it and am always uneasy when the rest of the family have to drive in it for work/uni etc. I also feel for those that aren't able to get out and about in the ice and snow, hard winters can be very lonely for those that are more vulnerable in our society- we just aren't set up to be able to cope with it like other countries who consistently have heavy snowfall. My 78 year old Uncle in Canada thinks nothing of getting the snow chains put on his car and tootalling hundreds of miles in the snow to see his grandkids.

Peppa glad you got the birthday presents sorted, I have put that lamp on my Christmas list
Chrissy- what a shame -your DD hasn't fitted for such a while now it must have shaken her but I agree with Peppa about focusing on the positive if possible x
Missmoose- I would love to decorate the bedroom but DH already moans about the fairy lights I put on the bannister so he would have a fit if I put anything up in the bedroom!

    Wow. Hello hello lovely people.

A massive slap on the hand for me and my absentness. My life is pretty crazy at the moment in comparison to last year but for once more positive. Can you believe I now have a full time job and live away from home. I am blessed that my best friend is my boss so she is incredibly understanding of my illness , compassionate , knows what to look out for and doesn't make me feel bad if there's something I can't do or if I am having a bad day.

Health wise up and down my job is a great distraction. I was in a bad way a few weeks back very poorly and in hozzi for two weeks. I am now waiting to see neurosurgeon again as I have recently had a urgent Mri.

On the Xmas front - I will be working Xmas day but back home for Xmas night where I will have dinner and presents with mum and my brother his mrs and my baby niece (who will have just turned 1)

Shopping and prep wise I am way behind so need tips of great value nice pressies for pretty much all adult ages and interest and kids (youngest 1 oldest 9) I will be buying for!

I am sending you guys huge hugs and promise to be around more. Missed you guys x

    Morning all
Lovely to hear from you jj, sounds like life is being kinder to you at last.
Hope everyone is as well as can be and managing to keep warm, there was a lovely layer of sparkly frost decorating the cars and house roofs over the road when I opened the curtains this morning.
Knitted a bit more elf last night and had a play with some scratched CDs seeing what kind of decoration I can easily transform them into that the kiddies can replicate at school.
Must remember to ask for my card lists soon so I can get writing them out.

    Have a good day all

Mornin. We really should have a name for ourselves.Like they do for other nuts like Trekkies or something.I just can't think of something clever.Over to you creative people.

I am so glad to hear that life is much more positive for you JJ.x

Cherry. The candle is'nt Marmite scented.I don't know if I would like that too much.I washed the jar.Stuck a wick in the bottom which I bought a pack of off the internet.Melted old candle stubbs down in a pan.Gently pored it in.Let it set a while and then topped it up with more wax.It does have some scent because the stubbs were scented. Not everyones cup of tea but my DD1 is a marmite fanatic.oh when the pan is still warm wipe out with kitchen roll and wash as usual. That way no wax left in the pan.

Forgive me Martin Lewis for I have sinned. Had a hospital appointment yesterday.(i know i am never away from them) so went to TKMaxx to look for a snow globe.(so you get all the blame peppa)and i came away with a Christmas top and 2 massive glass Christmas trees. One is about 2 ft the other about 2ft 6.She who has enough decorations to kit out the street! Opps!

I went to Lidl and got lots of stuff to complete my Mums gifts.Leibcuchen?sp marzipan, stollen, that kind of stuff.Oh also bought Mr V a Queen tin with bottle and Queen glass from Morrisons. This may be for his birthday which is the week before Christmas.People with Christmas birthdays are sooooooooooooo inconsiderate !

It is a shame for your daughter Chrissy.Lets hope she goes on to be another 6 months fit free now.Thank goodness bonfire night and fireworks are an occasional thing. My daughters house rabbit was scared. It must affect all wild animals too.

No snow here yet.It did snow in Buxton on Sunday a little,up near the Buxton water bottling plant.(in a bleak place on the ouskirts of town)

    I'm using brackets a lot today.(((((((((((( ))))))))))))))))))))))

    Laters Vx

    Morning!

Had a bit of a manic weekend, just the usual stream of people! Tore down a wall in the extension, rebuilt it, just needs skimming. So much warmer in there already! Only another 700 jobs to go...never ending. Oh and the boiler guy came (we now have heating!), only £45 for a service and fixed everything.

Bought the first gift for my OH, arrived today. Its one of those coffee pod storage things (he loves his tassimo). His birthday is 25th November so is a nightmare for xmas. I have my nan as well on the 8th December, so going to have to get my thinking hat on for both.

Very cold here this morning, but no snow as of yet.

  • Hello! I tend to come on for a bit, stay for a tiny while then go..... So 2016 is my year to hang around until xmas! Well that's the plan anyway.

I was going to read back but it'll take too long so I'm going to jump in from here, hope you don't mind?

I have just moved house and haven't thought about Xmas until now. So today I will begin with my ballet-mad daughter (7) who is after a proper tea set, not a kiddies one. I thought about buying tiny espresso cups & saucers, a cake tier plate thingy, perhaps a tiny teapot? I'm not sure, have been looking round but they can be so pricey and earlier this year I got a gorgeous cup & saucer from M&S for her and it smashed when washing it up :-(
