2016 has begun, and has carried with it the bugbears of 2015! water, water, water! The conservatory roof is leaking, as is the front porch, not surprising considering the amount of rain we continue to have, but yesterday l found that the front upstairs bedroom is soaked under the window, and the damm boiler had sprung a leak (only 2 years since it was installed) so add that to the drowned garden, new main roof needed and de-glassed greenhouse the thought that it never ends has been in my head. BUT 1) boiler repaired and serviced yesterday,2)nev the shred has measured for new glass and that will go in today, 3)l have an endowment policy about to mature which will cover the cost of the roof, so it is just the bedroom wall and the leaky plastic bits that need attention,, so onward and upward as the saying goes.
Christmas has been taken down and put away for another year, the family have gone back to China and the house is tidy and quiet, the way l hate it to be, but soon l will be looking after my great niece one day a week when her mum goes back to work and it will be untidy, noisy and absolutely brilliant.
Off to take DD shopping later this morning too, hope everyone is ok, hugs all round and virtual chocolates help yourself xx

fiesty oooh how exciting getting the nursery furniture, not long now! I meant to say to you that our next door neighbour had a baby about a month ago and we haven't heard it at all! I know you were worried about disturbing your neighbours. When Wiggle was born his cry seemed so loud to me, but when I look back at videos I realise what a pickly little cry it was!

Msgigglewick oh your poor DD, that sounds a bit nasty. I hope she recovers quickly.

Pixtotts that's so annoying about Waitrose! I've got my own issues with that family at the moment; DH bought me a pair of Ugg boots from John Lewis in the Black Friday sale, I really appreciated them but he bought them in black, I rarely wear black boots but always wear brown so I said we should swap them especially if he's spent that much on them. We really thought John Lewis would just swap the colour but they said I could take the black ones back and have the brown ones but we'd have to pay the £39 difference! They were adamant. We just couldn't believe it, I know Black Friday is a one off sale but all we wanted to do was swap the colour (which had also been in the sale) we weren't going to gain anything from it! Anyway we got a refund there and bought them reduced elsewhere!

Freespirit as well as the chihuahuas and jack russell I will send over Wiggle! I hope you're ok.

I have a love hate relationship with waitrose. I love the shop, selection and values/ethos, but I find they are a bit sneaky with advertising. Usually they will show 20% off for my waitrose card holders when in reality it is an item you can choose to have in your 20% off selection, I fall for it a lot!

I picked up a few bits i was eyeing up in boots sale today... wasn't going to get them until they reduced them again but there wasn't many left and not even online anymore so grabbed them and used my boots points.. Also got one of the soap and glory sets for dd3 (either bday or xmas)

My christmas pudding pandora charm came yesterday - takes my xmas bracelet up to 5 charms and every day bracelet to 4 now lol they are getting there.

dd3 was sent home from school yesterday (she had an accident while playing netball which knocked her out and shes brusied all down her left side, with a lovely egg lump on her forehead and eye.) good start to the year huh.. she had 4 hours of netball today too if she had gone in but they said yesterday she wouldn't be allowed to do sports this week cause of the head injury so she was a bit glum ( shes doing sports for gcse so she does tonnes of it a week) and the headache hit in over night so thought it was best she rest for today.

I'm itching to get painting my living room but bathroom is getting fitted on monday/tuesday so we shall do that room first lol

Poor DD, I really hope she is on the mend soon!

Princess, thank you for the reassurance! We haven't had any more run ins with next door. Admittedly I never got round to popping a card and wine round and neither of us exchanged christmas cards either. I think that avoidance and politeness is the best approach here 😉

I never made it to walking yesterday as it was too wet. Probably for the best as I forgot to clip my fitbit on after getting dressed :rotfl: super star dh did pick the moses basket and car seat up from the in laws and put the last few furniture bit's together! I finished the washing for the baby too! Just re-arranging and finishing touches to do in the nursery now

ty for all wishing dd3 a quick recovery - shes back at school today but bruising has really come out.. she hates the big bruise on her face so tried to put her hair over it lol bless her.

our tescos shelves have been empty too recently, had to go in a number of shops just to get the bits needed.

i'm back on sw diet - i've a stone and half to get to target again. last year was a bit of a write off lol so this year im going for it! i've done a 20 min kettlebell workout this morning.. it actually made me out of breath so must have been doing some good lol been for a small 3 mile walk too. tomorrow is swimming on top of that.

Wilkos have 50% off toys as well as xmas sale atm. Grabbed some wooden play food and wooden puzzles for my nephews bday and xmas gifts. and a few craft bits for the winter rainy day box.

On the Christmas front I've started my cross stitch Christmas cards, I figure that if I want to have enough to send to everyone this year then I have to start now! I received a late Christmas present from a friend (she lives miles away) and it is a lovely Yankee candle holder and a box of various Christmas scented Yankee votive candles, i'm really happy as I always like to have some Christmas Yankee candles tucked away for the following year. We're still burning the candle from this Christmas just gone as it's a large jar.

By the way has anyone seen all of the free printables you can get on the Boots photo website? I was looking for a photo template to make some thank you cards from Wiggle and came across it, it's great! Here's the link:

There's lots of different things for different occasions, I was really surprised they would offer this, it's great to find little things like this.

mrsinvisible oh no sorry to hear about all the leaks, it never rains but it pours! Excuse the pun….:o I'm glad to hear you are able to get it all sorted but what a pain. Roll on your great niece coming to be looked after! I'll drop Wiggle round too.

fiesty oooh exciting times! I remember washing all of Wiggle's clothes before he was born, I ironed them too and remembered thinking this will be the last time I iron his clothes – and it has!

Morning, wet again!!! and miserable. Checked the waterbutts and they are full to overflowing, so that's a full 2weeks watering for the summer it should stay fresh as it outflows and tops up constantly.
Glad you are all ready for the small person, Feisty, just the waiting game is a pain, eh?
l got weighed this morning and have put on 5lbs over the holiday, so that needs to be addressed ASAP or it will just keep on rising.
Princess Kitty how industrious, cross stitching already, and how lovely getting a late present of something you love. Yes, send/bring Wiggle round, the more the merrier!

Well I did manage a 20 minute walk yesterday, it was blooming cold! I did sleep better last night for it, so it may be the way to go

I'm considering the fly lady cleaning program as things around the new house are getting a bit dire (motivation severely lacking!) but it all seems a little over-whelming! Right I best push off as I have a tesco grocery click and collect to pick up, fingers crossed they have everything in stock!

feisty you will have a sudden burst of needing to clean about 3ish weeks before you actually give birth.. i don't know why i guess its what they call nesting lol. but don't over do it. as long as the place is clean and your main rooms are tidy the rest can wait until your precious bundle is in your arms.

no swimming today - i forgot they are doing aquafit the time i can make it today and i can't swim at the speed i want too with them all making waves lol shall go tomorrow instead. So the housework is getting a done a bit lol

I shouldn't have but just popped onto the lakeland sale and made an order oops ... must be good for the next few days or they will be taking bread and water for pack lunch next monday and tuesday lol.

dd3 is still a bit achy but getting there. ty again for thinking of her.

Thanks for the photo link PrincessKitty - looks really good so I might print off some cards for next Christmas now in case they take the page down. Yes I know Flitwick, not that far from here even though we're in a different county. hope the move goes well and you soon feel right at home.
