Great to 'see' you Freespirit!
Sorry to hear about your DD's back. It will be a little awkward with Thumper still being a small child as this is the time when parents do a lot of lifting and bending.
Hope that Thumper is OK after his fall. The bruise/lump will probably take ages to go away.
Hope everyone is ok and enjoys their weekend. I thought that this week at work was extra long but in reality was only a 4 day week due to the public holiday on Monday. I suppose that's a side effect of being off since Christmas Eve!A good life is when you assume nothing, do more, need less, smile often, dream big, laugh a lot, and realise how blessed you are.

PINKSTEPS that must be so frustrating for you and DS. We have a similar problem as DH has so many days when he can't get out of bed because he's so dizzy but GP and hospital don't know why. It usually gets put down to all the meds he takes but his meds haven't really changed and he can go months and not be dizzy at all. Poor DS and poor you too because the not knowing is hard on both of you. I do hope someone comes up with some answers for you very soon.
MURIE I bet you had a good laugh at your pooch being called small. Bet nobody messes with you when you're out together lol.
Nothing Christmassy here but I have bought DGS's birthday pressies - Woody dressing up set as he's just decided he likes Toy Story and Paw Patrol pyjamas and pants. Bless him, he'll be four and he does love character pants lol. Just need to get an extra bit for my sis and wrapping paper for both and the Jan pressies will be done. It's the most wonderful timeof the year :0 -

To be honest I am just glad the physio and occupational therapists have reports going back years with the treatments he has had, otherwise I feel they are treating us as some kind of frauds. He has had so many treatments, adaptions and aids over the years and seen goodness knows how many professionals and they have all agreed that it is tendons and muscles and then this one new consultant who has rubbished the lot. He told DS to literally throw his splints away then when I asked about his walking frame/wheelchair/hoist etc he then started mumbling about maybe he should keep using them. I don't think he even realised that DS uses them!!0 -
Evening everyone, aww you ladies are just so lovely (wipes away a tear)
DD2 is very upset of course and its just a natural reflex to pick your baby up but i said she has to think about her health atm, it would be a lot easier if he was walking but the little pickle isnt
MURIE i just call everything little haha yes i know what you mean, i cant hold ours when we are out he pulls me over and i am a big heffer he has such strength, although he isnt a tall dog, a lot of people cant believe he is 8 they think he is still a baby, im glad your fur baby is better. Oh you are doing really well i have only got two bits of clothing for thumper for next christmas
PINKSTEPS oh honey you and your lovely DS keep your chins up, i know how soul destroying it can be not getting anywhere, then thinking you have good results, then back to square one. Surely there must be an answer just around the corner somewhere, sending you both hugs. Yep my plans are pretty much the same this weekend although i really do have to go to a SM and get some food, our cupboards are bare, i cant drum up any enthusiasm for food shopping this time of year and especially when i only have a small amount of money left ho hum we wont starve
3FORHOLIDAYS i think it always feels so long after having time off, no matter even if it isnt a full week honey
PEPPAPIG aww i remember when Toy Story first came out when my DS was little oh i had to go through hoops for that boy to open a Woody and Buzz that christmas :rotfl:

Well hello there you lovely lot!
Thanks GettingThere For updating these lovely people. Thanks for everyone's kind words and well wishes! Its been a long , painful , scary , life threatening time since November.
I went to work one evening feeling awful and thought I would get myself through the six hour shift. I didn't want time off as was only in the second week of the job. After a hour or so there I couldn't hack it and told my manager I needed to go home. I went home where I slept but when I woke I was boiling , being sick and just not right. That's when everything turned into a blur I guess. I remember being ambulanced to my local hospital. I remember them saying my temperature was dangerously high. I remember them drilling into the bone marrow of my leg in a desperate attempt to get access to me. I then remember the room going funny and some one shouting to get my mum and close friend out of resus. After that I am told they couldn't bring temp down which caused seizures , they put me in a induced coma and rushed me to the neuro unit at a more specialist hospital. Apparently I had a infection in my shunt (so brain and inflammation in the brain) I am told the first few days after the coma I was confused , aggressive , wondering off. I have flash backs of two security officers stopping me leaving the ward and a doctor injecting me with me something. I then had the shunt removed and an external drain put in so my brain fluid was being drained to the outside of my body. I then had further surgery to replace the shunt and remove the drain but the surgery failed within 24 hours so I had it done again and again it failed , the shunt blocked. I then had the whole shunt out of my brain and stomach and a new on put between my spine and stomach. This seems to be faulty to a degree so my surgeon now wants me to have a MRI to see if I can have the fabby do new shunt put in the left side of brain and the spinal shunt removed. There is a chance he won't be able to do this as one side of my brain is scarred from surgery and infection and the other side , the ventricles are tiny which makes this sort of Op risky. So its a waiting game.
Whilst in hospital my brothers girlfriend gave birth to my beautiful niece I have met her once but there is a rift in the family at the moment (I find this harder then my health)
Xmas day my friends mum and step dad came up in the morning with presents , then my close friend and another friend came up for the afternoon with presents and they were great and then in the evening another friend brought my mum up. Then Xmas night I apparently went into a three hour seizure which my mum witnessed (usually she stays in the hospital but won't watch me have a seizure as me being that bad scares her) So boxing day is a blur as I slept off all the drugs they used to stop the seizure.
There has been many tears shed. Today was more positive , I shaved all my hair off to raise money for the ward I am on and have been ordering stuff for the ward such as fans , radios ect. I managed to drink and eat quite well too! I will know in a few days if I am having the other big op on Friday or not. It will give me a better quality of life and less invasive ops in the future!
I am sending love and hugs to everyone! I will have a post poned Xmas when I am out.NanMias - cyber granddaughter!

Oh JJ what a scary time for you and your mum! Seriously l don't know how you manage and stay so positive! I sincerely hope that you get the fabby new shunt and that it is totally a success and heralds a return to good health for you.
Free well done you on recognising what you needed and for doing it, l am so delighted that it worked and you are back posting again. My heart goes out to your DD, l can remember when my DSIL had the same dilemma when her DS2 was only 10 months old.
Pinksteps what a plonker that consultant was, l hope that if you ever have to see him again that he has read the case notes and has a better understanding of your DS health problems. Thank goodness for the other health professionals eh?
I spent some time browsing the sales online and have 10 Christmas presents for 2016 already. All at 70-75% off so am well pleased, Boots 70% off is probably this week so l may get a couple more then too. Cards and wrap are sorted too so now l need to find homes for them for the next 11 months.
Today l will sort out the last of Christmas 2015's goodies and give them away, far too many chocolates/sweeties/cakes/stollens/biscuits are calling out to me, they must be banished.
Need for coffee is overwhelming, back soon xx0 -
Oh Jess, what a palava. Are you at QA now or another? I was in QA with DS yesterday and the clinic was running 2 hours late. I was sitting there thinking shall I ask at reception if you are there only for DS to point out your name isn't Jess Junior so who would I ask for. Serious blonde (grey) moment

Well my DD will be up in the air about now !She has been fine about going but I must admit I have struggled over the past few days , her only issue was a teary call last night as she didn't like the way the guy drove or his music and could we pick her up from Gatwick when she gets back .This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Free - Lovely to see you posting again. Big hugs, and I hope that despite everything, 2016 turns out to be an amazing year for you - think positive xx
Chrissy - Aw bless, try not to worry, I am sure dd will have a lovely time once there xx
Well real life took over again (sobs quietly), decs down, work driving me crazy already, and dd's have got the back to school blues. On a positive though, watched big hero 6 with dd2 last night, oh my I cannot remember the last time I laughed so much, it has got to be one of the funniest disney movies ever made, highly recommend if anyone needs a good childish giggle for 90 minutes.
Not much planned today, dh is tiling our new kitchen, dd1 is out with a friend, and dd2 is playing with her lego. I'm sat here listening to the dogs snore contently, trying to muster up the energy to tackle the ironing. But on another positive note (can anyone guess my news years resolution yet?!) had an email from amazon to say my new adult colouring books are being delivered today. I didnt get any for xmas (despite numerous hints) and I'm really missing my evening scribbling.
Have a great weekend everyone xxIt's not about getting what you want, It's about wanting what you get.0
