Hello all, a bit of a lurker but I've bought my first Xmas gift for 2016 so feel I can join in now
My aim is to buy presents for a least one family on my list each month so by the time December comes around I only have DDs birthday (one in Nov, one in Jan) and Xmas pressies to sort and I have a weekly savings plan going for them.
I will be better organised and spend less in 2016!0 -
Get better soon Jess - been a long tough battle for you. hopefully this is the year you get to wave bye to all the hospital visits.
Feisty i use to love putting the nurserys together. Can't be much longer to go now
I picked up a few bits i was eyeing up in boots sale today... wasn't going to get them until they reduced them again but there wasn't many left and not even online anymore so grabbed them and used my boots points.. Also got one of the soap and glory sets for dd3 (either bday or xmas)
My christmas pudding pandora charm came yesterday - takes my xmas bracelet up to 5 charms and every day bracelet to 4 now lol they are getting there.
dd3 was sent home from school yesterday (she had an accident while playing netball which knocked her out and shes brusied all down her left side, with a lovely egg lump on her forehead and eye.) good start to the year huh.. she had 4 hours of netball today too if she had gone in but they said yesterday she wouldn't be allowed to do sports this week cause of the head injury so she was a bit glum ( shes doing sports for gcse so she does tonnes of it a week) and the headache hit in over night so thought it was best she rest for today.
I'm itching to get painting my living room but bathroom is getting fitted on monday/tuesday so we shall do that room first lolTotally debt free wohooo 2014

Free hope you are ok and are back with us soon
Hope everyone is as well as they can be
Just finished reading all I want for Christmas by Amy silver, a really nice book I would recommend. Sad in places but not everyone's Christmas or life is the same and it reflects that. But a very nice endingSPC~12 ot 124

The diet starts tomorrow. We have polished off all the sweets and treats. I start back at roller derby training tomorrow night, so I can't be a fatty in my shorts on my skates.:santa2::xmastree::santa2:0 -
Feisty... I loved buying things for our nursery! We were in mothercare on saturday, and i was looking at all the lovely things in there, cots prams etc, and i couldnt believe it was just over 6 years ago we were buying those things....... Its absolutely flown by!!!
Well finished taking our decorations down today ..... Everywhere looks bare, but bigger!! Also managed to make a banana loaf, the bananas practically walked into the bowl! And as the weather was dry here also got to hoover the car! So not a bad day again here!
Mrsgigglewick..... Hope your dd has had no more headaches, but my, i bet shes sore? .... Bless her!

All the decs are down it's so sad
I apologise for the below essay! it's a bit of a rant...
Popped into town earlier, picked lil sis up from driving lesson then on to hobbycraft to spend a gift voucherThe thing I really wanted they didn't have
but I did get a few other bits and bobs to get started on some new stuff for the shop. As well as stuff I didn't need of course, a broach making kit from lakeland, so I kept arty...
Then to Waitrose where I was shocked to find half empty shelves! of the first 5 items on the list they had 1 ! No courgette, no heinz baked beans, no chopped tomatoes, no passata...So we gave up bought what we had, came to £9 the lady serving us "ooh it has to be £10 to get your parking back you'll have to bring a calculator next time..." so I told her we'd have been well over had they had stuff, and she said herself it was disgraceful... I was like uh yeah your the one that works here!! It would have been understandable fresh produce, or near Christmas or new year or even yesterday! but at lunch time when the shows all over, crazy. So ended up paying for parking all over again at another supermarket but managed to get what we went for.
Off to write them an email just because I can... haha!
xI hope you know your capable, & brave, & significant.
even when it feels like your not....0 -
I'm just enjoying my Christmas tree this morning before it comes down later today. I know there's some confusion about exactly when Twelfth Night is, whether it's the 5th or 6th Jan, but we always take ours down on the 6th. It will be strange without it in here! It's a special day here as DH and I met each other seven years ago today, I can't believe it's been that long! We're going to have a takeaway tonight to celebrate.
Peppa i'm moving to a small town called Flitwick which is about 15 miles north of Luton, I don't really know Bedfordshire that well – it's DH's stomping ground! I hope your procedure goes as well as it can and it's over with quickly. Big hugs. How lovely for honorary DD, what wonderful news to start the year with.
lazysheep wow!! What an amazing holiday! That holiday is on my bucket list, hopefully I shall do it one day! Let us know how it goes.
04624181 I hope you and DD feel better soon. x
Gettingtherequickly thanks for the update on poor Jess, what a lot to have to go through and over Christmas time as well. GET WELL SOON JESS, we miss you on here! Here's hoping 2016 is better for you.
Treasurequeen enjoy your new Kitchen Aid! I love mine, it is my most prized possession! Oh apart from Wiggle of course…..:p That decoration sounds lovely.
murie I hope DH is settling into his new job ok.
fiesty oooh how exciting getting the nursery furniture, not long now! I meant to say to you that our next door neighbour had a baby about a month ago and we haven't heard it at all! I know you were worried about disturbing your neighbours. When Wiggle was born his cry seemed so loud to me, but when I look back at videos I realise what a pickly little cry it was!
Msgigglewick oh your poor DD, that sounds a bit nasty. I hope she recovers quickly.
Pixtotts that's so annoying about Waitrose! I've got my own issues with that family at the moment; DH bought me a pair of Ugg boots from John Lewis in the Black Friday sale, I really appreciated them but he bought them in black, I rarely wear black boots but always wear brown so I said we should swap them especially if he's spent that much on them. We really thought John Lewis would just swap the colour but they said I could take the black ones back and have the brown ones but we'd have to pay the £39 difference! They were adamant. We just couldn't believe it, I know Black Friday is a one off sale but all we wanted to do was swap the colour (which had also been in the sale) we weren't going to gain anything from it! Anyway we got a refund there and bought them reduced elsewhere!
Freespirit as well as the chihuahuas and jack russell I will send over Wiggle! I hope you're ok.0 -
Morning all
Hugs and good wishes to all and especially the poorlies and those with poorly loved ones to worry about.
Not raining here just damp and miserable looking.
Not got much Christmas planning going on here apart from still using up food stuff that was stockpiled prior to Christmas and not used.
The penny savings challenge is going well.
Have a good day everyone.SPC~12 ot 124

Ha Ha managed to subscribe to the thread, not read it all yet, but glad to be 'home' again with you.
2016 has begun, and has carried with it the bugbears of 2015! water, water, water! The conservatory roof is leaking, as is the front porch, not surprising considering the amount of rain we continue to have, but yesterday l found that the front upstairs bedroom is soaked under the window, and the damm boiler had sprung a leak (only 2 years since it was installed) so add that to the drowned garden, new main roof needed and de-glassed greenhouse the thought that it never ends has been in my head. BUT 1) boiler repaired and serviced yesterday,2)nev the shred has measured for new glass and that will go in today, 3)l have an endowment policy about to mature which will cover the cost of the roof, so it is just the bedroom wall and the leaky plastic bits that need attention,, so onward and upward as the saying goes.
Christmas has been taken down and put away for another year, the family have gone back to China and the house is tidy and quiet, the way l hate it to be, but soon l will be looking after my great niece one day a week when her mum goes back to work and it will be untidy, noisy and absolutely brilliant.
Off to take DD shopping later this morning too, hope everyone is ok, hugs all round and virtual chocolates help yourself xx0
