Lovely to see the thread moving on so well after our quiet spell. Def need to read up every day now or I'll have no hope of keeping up. :D

PINKSTEPS you tease, you scared the life out if me with that post - especially as I'm only posting last month's challenge today lol.

Well done MRSRYAN, the hampers sound lovely although don't envy you getting them there by train. Any chance of pics?

Hi REBECCA and SMOOSH, welcome to the Christmas chat, the more the merrier!

GTQ have a fabulous weekend and a great week. Very envious over here!

ELLIE I love the summer and the weather the past week has been lovely. I make it we've had about three weeks of actual summer this year ☹️. Having said that I must admit I'm looking forward to Autumn and winter now too. I keep eyeing up the flowers in my tubs and thinking how good they'd look with mini Christmas trees instead!!

CHERRY I have to confess I was hoping she'd want another one although this one is bigger than I anticipated so goodness only knows where I'll put it. She lives in a smallish flat with my DD who has made it plain that all biggish things stay here lol. I've got quite a few of my own so thinking now that I'll get rid of the spare double bed and replace it with a single with a pull out one underneath to give me more room!

Things seem a bit frantic here at the mo, probably not helped by the huge dolls house calling to me from the dining room table lol, but when I've seen consultant this lunchtime I'm shopping for a few finishing bits for some ongoing projects then this afternoon I should finish my jingle bells challenge, hooray!

Have a happy Friday everyone, catch you all later on.

  • Afternoon :)

I've just come back from doing my weekly shop and in my Mr T they have their mini/holiday size smellies reduced to clear. They're all down to 50% so 100ml tresemme shampoo/conditioners at 60p, 55ml dove body wash 60p, 75ml gillette fusion shave gel 85p etc. They also had a colour protect shamppo (can't remember brand), mini Aussie miracle shamppo/conditioner, mini simple moisturiser, mini batiste dry hair shampoo, 50ml toothpastes etc.

What was better was that the original 3 for 2 deal was also still working. Thought they might be useful for stockings/advent calendars.

They also had the tubs of quality street and celebrations out already but no sign of the seasonal aisle changing over yet.
  • Mrs_Ryan that's great news now you can relax and not worry about Christmas. apart from how you are getting the gifts to the recipients especially on a train. :T

thanks free. I agree the Yankee candle advent candle is expensive for what it is. I was debating whether to get a beauty/candle advent calendar instead of a chocolate one this year. I am still not sure.

Gettingtherequickly I hope you have had a lovely day at the spa today and enjoy the weekend.

mandco thanks for the heads up about the asda Christmas jumpers. I have never had a Christmas jumper might get one this year. My aunt and cousins have Christmas jumpers each year and my friend gets Christmas socks. I did see a nice snowflake one last year in asda but they didn't have my size, being a snowflake one you could wear it most of the time in the winter months as its not overly Christmassy.

Smoosh welcome to the group, I am the same I will be moving in October and I cant wait to decorate my first home for Christmas.

elliew8 welcome back, I am currently looking on the Tesco direct Christmas page and have seen a few things I need to get on there. It is wet and windy and feels like winter here, I might treat myself to a cinnamon hot chocolate tonight when I watch EastEnders.

TREASUREQUEEN I've got the Asda snowflake jumper and I wore it through the winter. I think virtually every time someone commented on how nice it was. Wish I'd bought two now as its gone a bit bobbly so probably won't do another year but it's in the washing machine at the mo so I can put it on if the weather stays cooler.

just ordered DD a Christmas duvet set http://images.linnlive.com/dcee0b9b152f55241d327ac972f06382/8ce13b7c-7324-4803-a96f-8318f9b52b1e.jpg

I went and bought the wool for the dog rescue blanket so hopefully I will get a start next week.

We took the dog to a new vet because the old one spends more time trying to upsell than looking at him and after twice being put on hold then cut off I got seriously fed up, this new vet is lovely no hard sell and even suggested he didn't actually need the kennel cough jab the other vet has said is necessary every year.He has already had one cruciate repair and is limping occasionally on the other leg the old vet wanted us to arrange the op asap however this new vet says his knee is fine but there is some inflammation that with rest and some weight loss should get better.

Hello lovely people. So exciting having the countdown to Christmas now theres a bit of an autumn chill in the air at night.

Having a new house to decorate for Christmas is lovely. It is my favourite part of Christmas.I have 8 banana boxes of decs.I am down to about 4 trees now as this is a smaller house.I MUST RESIST MATALAN.Of course I have drooled over it all but must not buy any more decorations.I did buy a couple in Canada and also a bag of lilac baubles from a carboot.I wouldnt mind but I sent loadsa lilac and purple decorations to the charity shop years ago as I thought I wouldn't need them again. But my kitchen is a lilac/grey colour again as it was at the milennium.I might do the same as you Peppa and have trees in pots outside.I went in asdaaaa one Christmas eve and thy were selling real trees for £2.I stuck one in the lawn at the front of the house with decorations on,it looked cute.

I have had an idea for DD1's BF.A decent pen knife. You don't seem to be able to buy them online.Anyone know where they sell them?

O my goodness my son's GF has been chatting to me about them getting married.I can't wait. They are in Canada for another year and then they intend to come back and work and save for the wedding. We have started a pinterest board. She does have rather expensive tastes which include a marquee.I am trying to rein her in a little bit.I love her.I could not ask for a nicer person to join our family.

I think I have decided on something for the recent craft challenge but wont take it to craft club!

Am out for my friends birthday celebrations tonight.I am so tired can hardly stay awake.Hope I get a second wind.

    Tins of roses have shrunk
  • Evening everyone, it feels chilly here tonight and very autumnal outside

SMOOSH AND BARGAINBUNNY hi and welcome to our thread

ELLIEW8 oops off to check out tesco direct now

PEPPAPIG i hope the consultant appt went ok and you got your shopping afterwards. I forgot to answer your question yesterday about the wedding planner course yes im still doing it although last week it was gardening and this week catch up housework but definitely back on it next week

TREASUREQUEEN i always wonder about the YC one but tbh personally i cant see how much fragrance you would get from one tealight a day???? Just me, i like to get my moneys worth haha

CHRISSYG oh i love that duvet set it is fab! Im glad your dog doesnt need another op, i would be blooming seething if i found out i had put my dog through an op that wasnt needed!

  • Morning all

I agree CARLISLELASS I think they have all shrunk in size....I dont know why they dont just leave them a standard size as surely they lose sales and it is christmas after all. I try our best to stick to one tub but I know if I do then all thats left by the time I get to them are the nut ones that I cant eat due to allergies! Kids cant hear me calling them in at night, but can hear the chocolate tin opening from the other side of the estate.

CHRISSYG I hope your doggy is ok. Ours isnt great at the minute - hes 17 and its like his back legs are going :eek::eek: but the vet gave him some pain killers and he seems to have perked up - Im not ready for THAT vet trip yet! and the duvet set is so pretty!

MRS_RYAN well done! I havent even started yet! My plan is to start once both kids are back on Monday

vulpix I am the same. I think I am currently on 3 trees....my husband thinks its excessive - I think it is festive. We have a 7ft one in the front room that usually goes red/gold but my living room is black white and grey so I am really tempted to get a black tree this year and silver/black and maybe red decorations. A small 3ft one that goes in the middle of the stairs with a battery pack of lights on it and spare baubles and then the boys had one in there bedroom - only problem being that now my Minx is 6 she wants her own tree so Im going to see if I can find a little pink one for her. Then the only room that wont have one is the kitchen......:rotfl:

mandco thank you for the head up about the Xmas jumpers - I had to wear one in work for 2 weeks before Xmas - mine is grey with a penguin on the front and is like proper jumper material as apposed to knitted if that makes sense. I need a new one this year.

freespirit66 yes I have been busy updating my planner and am about to start my winter clean/ clearout today - have already sat and made places for things to sell, recycle, reuse, and bin!:eek::eek:

Well yesterday I sat and looked up recipes for some homemade festive baked gifts, besides white chocolate and cranberry cookies Im also hoping to make some candy cane bark, truffles and peppermint creams to put in boxes for people as well as the kids teachers and scout leaders. Ive also sat and made a list of foods ready for christmas that I can start picking up now - we don't go too excessive so it should be fine because we dont really have visitors or people over. We all prefer our own space at christmas! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
and it is definitely nippy-er this morning - the BER months are officially here in South Wales
