Hi, thanks for the warm welcome.

I don't tell my family how early I start my Xmas shopping as they'd just laugh at me - but I have the last laugh when they're running around like headless chickens doing their Xmas shopping in December .

Thanks Murie for the tip re pound shops - I'll try next week.

Peppa, when I was joining MSE I wanted an unusual name and the only thing that came to my mind was my twin brothers nickname at high school " Plumduff". Later on when I told my sister about it she couldn't believe what I'd done - seemingly his nickname meant something rude. I still don't know what it means and I'd be too embarrassed to ask him. If anyone knows what it means please DON'T tell me xx

  • Ok so Wiggle’s lie in was a one off, up at 4:48 this morning! It just makes for such a long day and he’s usually quite grumpy because he’s still tired. Still it is what it is so must plough on! I’ve got to make some fairy cakes today for Wiggle’s little tea party tomorrow. I’ve made up some little party bags for his friends – I absolutely love making up party bags!! They’re only young though so they’ve just got a pot of bubbles, a little oat bar and a little box of raisins. It’s all about Wiggle’s birthday this week but once that’s done it’s full steam ahead on the Christmas prep! Although having said that I have bought a decoupage bauble tree decoration from someone on Instagram who makes them so I’m looking forward to that arriving. Oh, and I bought an Emma Bridgewater mug that was reduced to £5.95 (a mega bargain for those of you who don't know as they're usually £20ish) that has a country animal winter scene on it, it's not strictly a Christmas mug but will fit in nicely with my other Christmas mugs. Ok, so maybe this week hasn't been all about Wiggle's birthday! :p

Mrs Ryan yay for being finished! I, as usual, expected to have more done by now and I haven’t!

Peppapig I secretly can’t wait to go to Peppa Pig world! I love going on the rides with Wiggle. It must be really difficult not to have DGD like you used to, but it is only temporary. Once you’ve come through your treatment and you feel stronger again you’ll be able to get back to normal and enjoy lots of time together again.

freespirit sorry you’ve been suffering again, perhaps do little and often rather than one big session? I bet you do miss Thumper but you have to look after yourself too. I’m sure there will be lots of opportunities for one to one time in the future.

plumduff that’s the best bit about starting early, people scoff at you but you have the last laugh!

Right, it's only 6am but I think i'll go and make my second cup of tea of the day!
  • Thank you for asking Free and Princesskitty, I'm fine, reading everyday

Little update DS had his brain scan and now waiting for results. He has had his loading injections for pernicious anemia and as a caution I was tested and it proved positive, so I've just finished my course of injections too, now for both of us it's injections every 12 weeks life life.
I do need to have a check at what presents are already purchased and squirrelled away in the wardrobe, plan to do that today as well as all the mundane jobs I've been putting off because of hospital appointments etc.

Plumduff is Cockney rhyming slang, that's all I'll say
  • Hello all,

Is it ok if I join in?

I am looking at making everything this year for Christmas and only just starting to panic now, and it would be lovely to natter to people while I make stuff :)

  • I just heard on the radio that Selfridges have opened their Christmas shop today! It does seem early even for a Christmas nut like me!

I saw a post about it on Facebook. I have to admit I was a little excited.

Yesterday made me feel so Christmassy. Poured down with rain all day so when I got home from work we just shut the curtains and chilled out on the sofa watching TV and listening to the rain. Very cosy :)

Hi Plumduff, welcome to the thread. We're all crazy for Christmas and always talking about our ideas, presents etc but it's also a nice friendly group just chatting away about life in general.

I did go back to Asda and buy another one of the garden games set. I realised we have a 3rd birthday for one of my OH's cousins kids in October and he just loves playing out in his garden all the time, so it's an ideal gift for him. When I was in there I noticed they've added more garden stuff to the sale shelves, so I picked up another garden toy. It is a football and some cones, supposed to be £6 but was £1.75.

Mrs_Ryan - I looked at Moonpig last week and didn't see many Christmas cards, but I might have another look again this week. I have credit on my Moonpig account because last year when I was buying a bunch of Christmas cards, they had a deal where if you bought £40 of credit you got an extra £10 free. MY cards came to around £35 anyway, so I thought I might as well spend the extra £5 for some free credit because I always need cards throughout the year anyway so it made sense. Well it made sense until I completely forgot about it and only remembered last week that I had credit on the account, but hey, at least Christmas cards this year will be cheaper :rotfl:

I still need to get all my gift stash organised. At the moment they are all over the place, some boxes are stacked in my bedroom just getting on my nerves, some are stacked up in the spare bedroom getting in the way of everything and some are tucked away under my bed. I think I'll try and get them all sorted this week while I'm sorting other things out anyway.

Oh MrsI, I am exactly the same. Some of the things I do that to me are just creating order, are probably a bit OCD. One of the things I do that everybody laughs about is if I have a pile of coins in my hand, I have to have them all in size order (so 50p's at the bottom, 5p's at the top) but I also have to have them all facing tails up for some reason. If I'm in a shop queuing to pay for something, I will frantically sort my change out before I get to the till, even though I know that they're just going to throw it all in the cash register anyway :rotfl:. And I do the clothes peg thing too, I have a pack of pegs from Asda and they are yellow, green or orange and I have to have the same colour pegs hanging up an item.

Free - I have the cordless Dyson and I love it. I have put my old Dyson upstairs in my house now and I keep the cordless one downstairs. It's so handy to just pick up and swing around without having to unwind the plug cable, plug it in and have to keep swinging the cable up over or around things to get to the other side of the room. It's great in the kitchen, particularly if I'm making something with the kids and they make a bit of a mess. It's also great on the stairs because it all comes apart so you can just have a small handy sized vacuum to get the stairs done, much better than trying to battle with the big heavy vacuum.

princesskitty - Wiggle sounds like a little monkey. Our youngest daughter was (and actually still is) a nightmare sleeper. She would wake up throughout the night but still be up early the next morning and then not really go to bed until late either, so we were just constantly exhausted. She is still a bit of a pain because she just doesn't sleep early, but she is better in the mornings now as she will have a lie in on the weekend, so at least we can catch up on some rest when we haven't got to get up for work.

Right, I need to get some work done so I will catch up properly a little later.

Have a good day everybody x

Hi all, sorry been MIA for a couple of days. Did some more loft work on Saturday, was at a wonderful christening on Sunday and yesterday was spent organising more household things. DS woke up at 2am this morning being sick and has literally not stopped all morning. Washer is on, he is dosed up and in bed and he looks rough. Today I will reprise the role of nurse whilst trying to get some bits to sell on facebook.
Freespirit- I know the diagnosis has come at a time when you have had a rough time of it lately but at least you have a diagnosis, now you can get the right treatment and dietician adviceas some things you eat can make it flair up. My husband suffers with Ulcerative Colitis which is an IBD so PM if I can be of any assistance or you want to chat xx Hope you are feeling better today after all your gardening x
Mrsinvisible-Gad the dishwasher is fixed, I know you said you don’t use yours often, I would be lost without mine. Hope DS2 op went ok.
Plumduff55-Welcome to the thread, we are all Christmas lovers here. I would love to have the talent to knit. I am sure I have seen the dvd wallets in B&M and home bargains.
Murie- Thank you, we had an amazing shopping day x
CHrissyG- that is very organised! I love getting Christmassy deliveries!
Newthrift-sounds like you had a fantastic night, Madness always reminds me of growing up. We used to have it on really loud in the car when we went on days out with my mum and dad and we all sang along.
Princesskitty29- Was it drayton Manor you went to? We love it there and are hopefully going to go when hubby is off this month. Sounds like you have got a busy week, hope wiggle has a lovely birthday and hope you all have an amazing time at Peppa pig world x
Mrs_Ryan- wow well done that is fantastic! Are the jack will sets out already? Im after one for DS for Christmas. You are organised with your cards too so that means you can just sit back and relax and enjoy the festive season knowing you are done x
Peppapig- I hope you manage to find a caravan that is in the right area for you. Sounds like you have a fun time planned with DGD, have fun xx
Pinksteps- Gosh pinksteps have you ever had any symptoms? I am glad that you are both now able to get the right treatment that you need. Big hugs to you all x Checking on your Christmas purchases is something I did recently and I honestly had forgot so many things I had bought. I have not got everything written down.
Manxcottageonthehill-Wow what a fab name!! Welcome and hello, if you are a lover of all things Christmas then you are welcome here. Don’t panic, let us know who you are making for and if you need ideas or have your own ideas, we can try and help you as best we can. There are some very talented people on here and we will always try to help xx
Moneymission2015-Wow more fab garden bargains, I drove past asda last night and there was some niggle saying I had to go in and get something and I could not remember what. I just wanted to have a nosey and see if there were any reductions like your bargains lol. I also do the coin sorting in order of size. Good luck with the gift sorting too.

Also just wanted to let you know that mandmdirect have a sale on UGG boots for kids, ordered DD a pair yesterday and they have arrived today. Just going to open them for her now. They were £29.99 reduced from £109.99.

I've been today! They had some amazing stuff but oh the prices!! I picked up a gorgeous multicoloured bauble and it was like £16  Despite this they appeared to have plenty of trade and a lot did seem to be tourists.
I just decided when I woke up this morning I was going to do something different today so I decided to have a day out in London. I've always wanted to see the Transport Museum so decided to go for a look. I unfortunately picked the wrong day as a) weather was rubbish and b) all the trains were disrupted after a bridge collapsed quite near here but I still had a lovely time. After the museum I went to Oxford Street to Selfridges, and then to Harrods for a nosey where I bought OH a tea caddy full of tea and a mug, some biccies and a tea caddy for my friend.
Jack Wills sets aren't out yet, I just bought two shower gels each for nephews and step niece. I have NUS discount so works out about the same. Taxi is nearly back at my house now thankfully- can't wait to put my feet up! Xx

DSs scan went well, I was allowed to stay with him if need be but he was being independent and they took extra care I think because of his autism. The only downside was waiting as it was the hottest day and one elderly lady looked very poorly whilst we waited. Well whilst DS was having his scan and I was waiting in the adjoining room she passed away. It was very quick and the staff were very professional, thankfully DS was none the wiser.
Gluten free for a month now and DS has lost a stone. It's much easier than I anticipated and I've noticed a difference with us both but that could also be due to the B12 injections. DS has not once spent half an hour in the loo like before! So the cynic in me admits defeat
