Evening everyone, today we started to tackle the overgrown mess of the front garden because it really was embarrassing, at least the back garden no one else sees. I am absolutely shattered, we didnt get it finished but halfway there and it already looks so much better, we will finish it next weekend, i am just glad that we are keeping the momentum up of getting the gardens ship shape and havent given up!!!!!!

PLUMDUFF hi and welcome to our thread, its nice being able to get fab presents but still stick to the budget isnt it? I dont mind giving money if that is what the recipient prefers especially now you can make a mini hamper to go with it so its not so boring

MURIE haha it must be a man thing then :rotfl::rotfl:it just made me giggle when he said it

welcome plumduff, pull up a chair, have a virtual cake or bacon buttie, and enjoy year round Christmas.
Murie, thanks, yes, the sewing went well, chiffon is a bit of a bugg-er as it slides about, and you have to make a hem of about 1/8th inch or it puckers up. pins leave holes or can snag the material so its slow to do.
Today l have to take DS2 into hospital for his ear op, day case, but 35 miles away, so l will have to stay around rather than come home, oh, dear, might have to go shopping! (just to fill in the time, of course).
DGS cut my grass yesterday, we had to be inventive with the clippings as we had already filled our and 2 neighbours garden waste bins, so compost and mulching provided a solution.
Fave coz visited yesterday, her DH has been referred to cardiology after his holiday extravaganza, but says he feels great since the stent was put in, she reckons it has given him the ideal excuse to be idle!

Mrs I - another busy day for you then! Where do you find the energy?! Glad cuz's DH feels better now- thought most men don't need an excuse to be idle lol?!

Another dismal looking day but sticky- I think I may have just wasted my time watering the garden as it looks as if we are in for a downpour!
Have a good day everyone x

Got home from work yesterday to find my Amazon order waiting for me so i have even managed to wrap it all up .

So far today i have had the dog out ,washings done (thanks to dd) grass is cut and im having 5 mins before i paint the hall ceiling and we are going swimming this evening.

Had a strange weekend at work spent a lot of yesterday trying with limited sucess to teach a 18 and 21 yr old how to use a tape measure and how to convert cm to mm to inches !! What on earth is being taught in school if the basic skills are missing !

Morning :) I've been rather AWOL for a week-ish but I had been reading. I will catch up properly when I have more time though.
Hope that everyone is ok. Can't quite believe we are now in to August, where is this year going?? I was dancing away to Madness last night at a festival and they were very good!! Not had to camp as it's not far from me so could be back home in my own bed :D
The summer weather seems to of taken a brief step back here, hoping that we will get some more sun before autumn/winter sets in!
Time to carry on with work and I will catch up properly soon!
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:

  • Hi all, we were celebrating this morning as Wiggle slept in until 6:35! :T We had about an hour and a half lie in! I still had to go to him in the night but it was nice to see the time when we woke up. We had a lovely weekend, we went to Thomas Land on Saturday for our nephew’s birthday and Wiggle absolutely loved it! We all had such a great time and didn’t spend anything! My BiL bought the tickets for everyone (with Tesco vouchers), we took our own picnic and the tea I had and ice cream DH had my FiL insisted on buying – so it was a fab and free day for us! :money:

I’m getting all the last minute details sorted for Wiggle’s birthday, he’s 2 on Friday (literally can’t believe it!!) and he’s having a tea party with friends on Wednesday afternoon, we’re going to Peppa Pig world on Friday then having an official birthday party on Saturday with family. I made the sponges for his chocolate cake yesterday and put them in the freezer, I’ll get them out on Friday night then finish decorating Saturday morning. He’s having a Peppa Pig themed party so I’m attempting to do a cake where Peppa and George are jumping in a giant muddy puddle. We’ll see how it goes!

Hello and welcome plumduff55 ! If you’re a Christmas nut you’re in the right place! I need to get a portable dvd player too for my little boy as it’s quite a long journey to my parents now.

freespirit your Birds of Prey day looked fab, I do like doing those things I find it very therapeutic! I just get used to getting up so early, it becomes normal! Oh you poor thing, I can understand why this has got you down. I’m sure you’re fed up of hearing this but at least you know what is wrong now and you can hopefully get some help for it. Big hugs.

3forholidays it sounds like you had a lovely holiday.

mrsinvisible glad to hear you managed to get the leak sorted. I hope DS2’s ear op went ok.

Peppapig Wiggle is the same, it doesn’t matter what time he goes to bed he still wakes up mega early! The positive about your OCD tendencies is you get stuff done – I’m not very good at getting on with things!! I hope you have a lovely break away.

vulpix We do have a clock that we can set to change colour at a certain time, so he would have to stay in his cot until it changed colour. I’d love to use it but I’m not sure if he’d get it yet. He is two on Friday though so hopefully he’ll get it soon! I hope your arm is better soon, as others have said it might be best to go to the doctor.

Mrs Ryan well done on the bingo win! It sounds like you’re nearly sorted for Christmas already!

04624181 It sounds like you had a wonderful day, it’s really lovely when that happens.

Pinksteps I hope everything is ok with you. x

    Fiesty Thinking of you. x

    Hi all :)
I've just spent a very frustrating hour on FunkyPigeon buying Christmas cards (and an 18th birthday card for my nephew) I spent £60- something  but that was with postage and a £35 gift card for OH. I bought cards for mum and dad, sis and BIL, best mate, another friend, my two nephews, my step-niece and OH so 9 cards in all. I went over to Nottingham today so I bought Jack Wills shower stuff for my two nephews and my step niece- so yes I'm pleased to say I'm pretty much finished! Just got to pick up something little for my Dad in Dublin next week and get my best mate's Exeter shirt when I'm on hols in October and then I'm sorted!
I have never in my life finished my Christmas shopping this early and it feels very strange but I've had some cracking bargains! I'm most proud of OH's £7.50 trainers though. :D

  • I just heard on the radio that Selfridges have opened their Christmas shop today! It does seem early even for a Christmas nut like me!

Wow MRSRYAN you don't hang about! Wouldn't have thought of Funky Pigeon or Moonpig for Christmas cards so I might have a quick peek.

PRINCESSKITTY yay to Wiggle sleeping in :T I love Thomas Land and Peppa Pig world, really good days out. My two little DGSs ate both very into Thomas, especially the littlest one, he's only two but he knows the name of every engine. Eldest (4) has moved on to Spiderman now. The cake sounds fab, I love peppa and George.

NEWTHRIFT I can't believe we're in August already either, where has the year gone?

CHRISSEY that was a productive morning - hope the rest of the day followed suit. Very impressed that you were going swimming too.

MRSINVISIBLE fav cuz's DH could be in for a disappointment, they usually prescribe exercise and lots of walking for rehab for cardiac patients. :D

FREE well done on making headway with the garden, you'll feel such a sense of achievement when it's all done that all the hard work will be so worth it.

MURIE we ended up not looking at the caravans after all and spent the time eating, reading, sleeping and watching tv. Was good down time though. I still really want a caravan but DH was right, in that location I don't think we would get enough use out if it to justify the cost. I'm going to look at other area though and maybe find a location where DDs and the littlies can enjoy too.

Welcome to this friendly thread PLUMDUFF, love your name. It's Christmas all year round here so you'll be right at home.

Had a lovely afternoon seeing all three littlies (DGD is staying with the DGSs this week). For me about the worst part of this treatment is that I can't have DGD like I used to, I can only really do one day and an overnight. I know she wonders why she doesn't stay here so much now and I really miss having her here. I'm hoping that the summer holidays will be the last time I can't do it and that by the October half term I'll be finished with chemo and can have her again. I'm going to have her Wednesday afternoon and then Thursday night and Friday morning so looking forward to that very much. We're making a mini Shopkins Shop and she's going to paint it this week so hopefully we'll have lots of fun.
It's the most wonderful timeof the year :

Evening everyone, well after all that gardening i have had a hell of a day with my fibro, i will have to be more careful next time. I really need to get to bed as i have my diabetic eye screening at 8.30am and i like to get up and shower before the kids get ready to go to work

MRSINVISIBLE i hope DS op went well today and glad that fave cuz DH is feeling well again

MURIE it has been raining here all day virtually and feels much colder i have had to shut all the windows today, then DS walks in tonight and says 'it stinks of wet dog in here' the flipping dog hadnt even been out in it

CHRISSYG haha that made me laugh teaching them how to use a tape measure, its because if it doesnt have a screen they arent interested :D

NEWTHRIFT ooh i have been to many a Madness concert in my time, they are brilliant arent they??

PRINCESSKITTY aww your day at Thomasland sounds fab and very mse. Wiggle sounds as if he is going to have some lovely birthday celebrations! Glad you got a little lie in yayy :D I cant believe that about the christmas shop being open today :rotfl:

MRS_RYAN well done on being almost finished it makes such a difference and December can be thoroughly enjoyed and not rushing round trying to find presents

PEPPAPIG im so glad you have had some good quality downtime i am sure it was very much needed. It wont be long til DGD will be back staying for the holidays with you. I really miss not having Thumper i saw him on saturday but that was the first time in two weeks, whereas i saw him at least twice a week when i was looking after him, i miss the one on one time as well :(
