I have had an idea that i'm going to create a 'pink' hamper for my youngest daughter. She loves her toys and books etc but she also loves to have more grown up presents, so I ordered lots of pink smellies from Body Shop and I will add to it throughout the year with other pink things. If anybody has any ideas that I can add to the hamper let me know, she is 8. So far I have pink shower gel, pink lip balm, pink bath bomb, pink hand cream and pink shampoo. I'll get some pink sweets closer to the time and maybe a Barbie DVD, I will have a think about it. I love creating hampers.

If you're getting pink shower gel then I'm sure you would be able to find a pink shower puff to use with it. How about some pink socks or pink stationery for school?

    Evening all,
Phew, what a day. Managed to to go physio, pick up 2 gifts I ordered from mothercare. Nipped to home bargains and picked up 2 light up Yoyos for the kids stocking 49p each. Also picked up a box of 270 animal stickers for DD craft drawer gift for 49p. They also had a furbys jigsaw in a resealable foil bag for 39p so I got that for DD stocking too. Picked up some more Designafriend products on sale too. I decided to treat DD to something else so the designafriend doll is safely tucked away for Christmas. Also treated myself to a Christmas gift. It’s a yankee candle set. It’s a lovely red Christmas votive holder with 3 votive candles in for £6.99. Its gorgeous.

Murie- I have saved the doll for Christmas, she hasn’t got any already and she is so excited about getting one. I took her to smyths to see the our generation doll products and she fell in love with So many things lol
Peppapig- wow that is good that they will send a replacement out so fast. I am trying to get organised as I really want to get as much done as I can as Im hoping to start some crafting with my portrait machine to bring some money in. Glad your consultant has got a plan xx
Moneymission2015-thanks for the link for the heart, it is gorgeous

  • Hi all

Freespirit. I survived the DS bedroom. It looked lovely when I was finished.:D

Princess Kitty. The Christmas Eve tradition stems back to when my children were little. We used to take them to the Christingle service on Christmas Eve aqnd have them and their friends back afterwards for a buffet type tea. Once they were tucked up in bed, I would cook for My my DH and my parents. I choose 3 new recipes each year and try to vary things as much as possible. It gets harder each year to choose the courses:(

Murie. My husbands favourite phrase before doing anything in the house is “it's a 5 minute job”. Sadly, it never is and I usually have to step in to help him out. He took 40 minutes to remove the old toilet seat 2 weeks ago….I had to help him with that too. Then I had to put the new one on because he couldn't do it!:rotfl:

I can't remember whether I mentioned that the Yankee Candle advent calendars are on sale on Amazon. I ordered 3 a couple of months ago and they look lovely. I think they may be last years design.

I am doing well with my Christmas list but that will now go on hold till September as I have lots to do between now and then. Of course if I spot something, I will buy it.

My DH has surprised me this weekend by booking us a weekend away in September to Blackpool for my 50th. It is a nice 4* hotel and a bedroom upgrade. It may not sound exciting to some but I love Blackpool, the illuminations will be on and the aim of the trip is to visit the zoo so I can feed the giraffes. Im sooooo excited.:j:j:j

The anniversary trip looks like 3 nights in Bangkok and 10 nights on Koh Samui in 4 and 5* hotels. There is loads to do on the island so lots of googling going on.:D

Just having a relaxing day today and looking at lots of "things" on tinterweb.:o

    Hugs to all
    xxx
Start by doing what's necessary, then do what's possible and suddenly you are doing the impossible:j
Christmas is not a time but a state of mind :xmassmile
Trying.....Very trying- as my DH would say
    Loving de-cluttering

Evening everyone, i have had a lovely day today DD1 and i went to watch the Farnborough Air Show but being totally MSE we found a car park where people were parked and had their picnic tables and chairs out next to their cars, we paid £1.50 for the afternoon and had great views as it was in the middle of a big roundabout, DD2 and OH and Thumper joined us for the last hour, it did get quite hot though at one point luckily the sun went in and we had a nice breeze.

MURIE i didnt get any cranberry juice as i thought i had cracked it but tonight not so sure so shall put a tsp of bicarb in squash tonight when i go to bed. Hope you are pleased with the cake and decs for tomorrow and everything turned out nicely. Happy Birthday to DD for tomorrow have a lovely day x

good morning, another nice day promises.
Murie, yes, l know the '5 minute job estimate' intimately. I used to be expert at it.. so l can sympathise with you and Nitnurse. Hope the birthday girl enjoys her day and that you/she is/are pleased with the cake.
Money mission, love the idea of a 'pink' hamper, pink scrunchie for the bath, pink hair accessories, pink mug, pink nightie, slippers, maybe?
Free, hope the bicarb did its job, and that you start to feel better NOW!
Nitnurse-not2 how lovely of your DH l love Blackpool too.
Have been busy-ish this week decorating DDs hallway, nearly finished, but what a lot of gloss! and the wood is old, and has years of other peoples paintwork on it, so the finish is always less than perfect, but it is a housing association property, so we cant do anything about it.
My crazy friend came to see me yesterday, just back from Benidorm, oh, lordy, my sides ached from laughing at the tales she told, it must have been madweek out there.
On the school report side, the Chinese branch both got great reports, the home grown DGS not. He is soooo not academic, but all the personality qualities, behaviour, and attitude comments were very positive, and he is happy there, (and in lurve), and that is every bit as important. l had given large amounts of appropriate praise, but hadn't thought of rewarding them, but what a good idea, l will give it some thought, treats are always welcome, aren't they.
Been in the garden yesterday, l want to rip out part of the border and rework it, just a 5 minute job, eh? but l know it will take ages and will hurt, so perhaps l wont do it, or will ask DGS to help.
More coffee needed, back soon. xx

Hi everyone, feeling a bit more with it today as Wiggle has been letting us have some sleep! He did get up at 5am today though but DH has takend him downstairs so I’m having a cuppa in bed. But I’m not looking forward to going down there, they’re both grumpy as they got up so early! Oh well hopefully it’ll be a nice day to cheer us up.

Peppapig Yes there was nothing obviously wrong with Wiggle so it must be something behind the scenes like a growth spurt! I am glad the treatment is not as bad as you were expecting and I hope you’re managing to have a nice rest. I think it is positively RIGHT to add ‘buy a caravan’ to your list! Sorry you didn’t get to see your grandnibs, it will make it even better when you do get to see them!

murie oh your poor DD, it sounds like she is having a right time of it. I had a similar situation once, I went into the back of a trailer that a van was pulling along, they did an emergency stop and hadn’t hooked the trailers lights up to theirs so I didn’t know they were braking so suddenly until it was too late! Please try not to stress about the cake etc, from my experience when having a bad time just getting lots of care and attention is worth more than anything else. I’m sure she’ll appreciate the cake and sweet tree and just the fact you’ve made that effort with a bad arm is wonderful.

04624181 well done to your children for doing so well, it’s lovely to hear they work hard and are dedicated, I only hope I can bring Wiggle up to be like that!

MoneyMission well done to your daughter too! Oooh I made a ‘pinktastic’ hamper for my friend for her birthday, but alas she’s a lot older than 8! How about a little purse/cosmetic case, pink hair accessories, pink hair brush, pink cup/mug, book with a pink cover if she loves reading, pink bookmark, pink bead bracelet, pink flannel, pink lip balm, pink pencil case, not sure if she likes baking but you can get pink bags of cake mix etc, oh my goodness I could go on forever!

MoneyMission & freespirit thank you for saying that about my photos, it’s funny because I think compared to a lot of people’s on there mine look a bit naff! I generally think anything with a white background and a filter looks good! Although it’s not about that really, it’s just about putting photo’s on that you like. I bet there’ll be some amazing ones at Christmas!

CHRISSYG thanks for the heads up about the Amazon top up scheme, that’s a great idea!

nitnurse it’s a lovely tradition. I bet it does get harder choosing the courses, could you not return to some favourites? Oooh your upcoming trips sound fab!

freespirit glad you had a lovely MSE day at the airshow, I saw your video in Instagram!

mrsinvisible I didn't see your post before posting mine, well done to your grandnibs on their reports too!
  • Ooh thank you everybody for the great ideas to add to the hamper. I am really enjoying thinking up all the ideas and adding to my list. I've ordered a few things but as long as the ideas are in my head I will pick things up a little at a time throughout the year. I'm thinking of doing something similar for my niece now who is the same age, so need to find out what her favourite colour is.

I've had such a busy weekend, I've finally sat down to relax but need to get organised for work tomorrow so won't get too comfortable!

I hope everybody has had a good weekend, I am going to catch up with this thread properly a little later when I do sit down to relax.
