Really slow going for me — £10 Amazon card (belated Xmas present), £3.50 Pp payment from OpOp and a couple of YG surveys. Got £15 due from SB sometime, so hopefully that will come through soon.
It's like that sometimes and happens to us all :(

Try to keep going and have a look at all Aesop's great ideas for making money. Also, if you look right up at the top of the page there is a dark blue bar - have a look on the 'Income' for ways to make money from home and good luck :D

    Positive and negative day today!
Sold an old phone on eBay for £55
    Sold a PlayStation 2 for £55
Withdrew £310 from PayPal into savings
Had a refund request for £30 claiming item not received! Had to refund and claim compensation from Royal Mail which could take 30-90 days 😡
    Frustrated to say the least
Very well done on the sales :T Hope you get your claim through ok

  • Excellent amounts posted, folks. You've been working really hard at this:T. I can see January is going to be a record-breaking month for money made on the thread, that's if there are any existing records to break;)

Not a penny to add myself since last update. That book I thought I'd sold on Amazon is still showing as pending and Amazon keep emailing me not to post it until they verify the buyer's payment details and get paid for it. It might fall through as did the one last week:(

    Thanks for the kind comment.

I think though that I only stay on the threads that are good. I've tried quite a few - you know, seemed a good idea at the time - but don't stay if I don't feel welcome. I think it's a bit like smiling at a stranger - it only works if it's reciprocal - and when you're new on a challenge it's kind of the same eh ;)

I know exactly what you mean, I feel the same:T. It's like walking into a huge room full of people at a party where you don't know anyone. You don't know whether to smile bravely and hope someone comes up to talk to you and make you welcome or turn round and get your coat. That's how I feel anyway, both at parties and on established MSE threads:o
  • I did a mystery shop on a gambling app yesterday, and won £40 with the bet I had to make, so that is a bonus, plus the £5 I will be paid for the mystery shop but I won't count that until it is paid.

Another £2 for a top sold on local facebay too, so that brings my total to £242 I think.

I don't usually count interest from the bank as it's so small but one of my savings accounts matured earlier in the week and they dumped my internet into my pitiful savings account so I'm counting it.

    £51.91

I'm another one without a telly - though i still pay the licence cos i keep meaning to get another one. I don't watch much but what I do watch I watch via catchup on the laptop.

well done on interest Sugarplum634 :j Can I make a suggestion about your tv licence? cancel it until you buy a new TV and then start again.

One simple question makes it easy to know if you need a TV Licence:
Am I watching or recording live TV on any device?
Live TV means any programme you watch or record at the same time as it's being shown on TV or an online TV service.
An online TV service is a service that mainly aims to provide TV programmes over the internet, e.g. on a website or through an app or Smart TV.
If you only ever watch on demand programmes, you don’t need a TV Licence. On demand includes catch-up TV, streaming or downloading programmes after they’ve been shown on live TV, or programmes available online before being shown on live TV.

I never have got to grips with ebay purely for the postage thing. Sounds incredibly complicated/hassle/confusing.

I have a loft full of stuff.....some of it suitable only for ca rboots but other bits I think I could get a little bit more for.

I have a week off coming up at end of Jan and intend to get up there and take some pictures.

Thinking of giving Shpock a go as local people can pick up.
We did sell a couple of bits on there last year so fingers crossed for the mammoth clear out.

it's not a hassle/complicated selling on ebay. well the wrapping a 100 parcels could be considered a hassle hey carbootcrazy?

you have two choices, you can send your items via royal mail/parcelforce or couriers.

I prefer couriers as myhermes tracks and signs for your parcel for 50p if you want it. But the tracking and delivery is sufficient for proof to ebay of delivery of item when disputes occur. Plus if you take to a myhermes shop only costs £2.60 for upto 1kg. cheaper than RM and I charge my buyers £3.00 to cover the postage costs that ebay and pp take.

With RM you have to weigh your items and make sure your parcels are in the right category, ie large letter or small parcel.

shpock is ok, I used it a couple of times. but I had people from as far a Birmingham asking if I delivered! So had to edit all my posts saying my location, and if they wanted items posted, I would happily do so for the extra cost!

good luck whatever you decide to do.

Just signed up for Google Opinion Rewards and made £0.50 on my first survey. I'm not entirely sure what I can spend my credit on so won't count it until I find something worthwhile to spend it on.

When does everyone decide to give up with ebay and just donate it to charity instead? Sometimes I think it isn't worth it packing up an item and going off to the post office for a pound or two, and this is without having any problem customers causing hassle the other end. Even worse is collection only items when I have to hang around waiting for someone to turn up. I've been doing a lot of clearing out recently and I think the Air Ambulance is going to get lucky when they pop round doing their collection on Monday.

with Google rewards you can spend your rewards on google books, music, tv programmes, films, or google apps. It can only be spent on google and only google items.

I do this, have £20.xx but used money I had earnt before to pay for some apps which was handy.

I did a big clear out before xmas and donated 3 large refuse sacks worth to the charity shop but then sometimes I regret binning stuff like that.

now what I do is take a look at ebay and see if things I have, have previously sold and how much for. If I have 10 items that will sell for over £1 profit after fees, then I list them. As that is £10 to me. But I always make sure the buyer pays for the p and p, so I am not left with a little amount.

There are some items that just will not sell like primark pjs for kids, so I donate those to the charity shop.

I sold my son's old pants in excellent condition on ebay, and the buyer paid and was very happy with them. Normally those would be donated to the charity shop.

At the end of the day you need to do what is best for you. My DH would love me to take all my stuff and just bin it all or donate it all to the charity shop. he hates seeing it here. but when it is selling I am reluctant to let it go.

saying that, found a really old holey pair of shoes in his wardrobe this morning! even he had forgotten he had put them in there! he was keeping them for when he is working outside at work and needs something that can get trashed. Considering he doesn't take them to work or remember he has them, they are going to the shoemenders to be recycled for abroad! my local shoemenders takes in old shoes and mends and fixes them and sends them abroad.
