  • Hi Marcus, This is a really helpful post! Thank you!
Quick question for you: my mother decided to put her house on the market, and at the initial meeting the agent agreed verbally that the lock in period would be 5 weeks - now they're telling her it's 12 weeks.
Plus in the three weeks its been on the market she's not had a single viewing. Yet, they've told her to drop the price (even though it's on at 9 grand less than she paid for it 2 years ago, and 15 grand less than a similar property 250 yards up the road on the same development. I've told her to ring the agent first thing in the morning to cancel dropping the price and that until they've had some viewings she won't reduce the price.
    Any advice would be helpful.
    Thanks,

There can be many options for selling houses by saving money and the tips that you provided here are really helpful. I would like to add here as, any one who wants to sell their house can benefit the with some little furnishings that will give a new look so that, people will get attracted to it and hence prefer to buy your house at prices you want.

Awesome Marcus, a bit of insider knowledge is always helpful. My friend could have done with this recently as they did exactly what you said. When he went dual agency the rate went through the roof.

Oh and my tip would be declutter and put your stuff in the garage (not the box room) or failing that storage or your friend / Dad's garage.

After a bit of advise if possible. To cut a very long story short OH has been left his Nans/parents 2 bed apartment in Spain. We want to sell ( as no use to us and we're emigrating down under as OH is Australian and we have decided to move there ), but in order for us to move we want to sell Spanish property.

Any advise would be appreciated.....after a quick sale if poss.

    TIA

  • Hi All,

    1. I have received a quote for a solicitor for a first time purchase with mortgage of a new build/new development £74995 freehold property with no HIP in place for £700 (according to them all incl.) want to know if I am getting ripped off or not.

    2. Does it matter that the solicitor is in a completely different city to me?

Any help would be greatly appreciated and have a great weekend!

  • As far as I know quote matters, but if your solicitor is living near to you then, it will not be a problem with you.

Sorry could you explain what you mean I don't understand. I asked if the price was good and whether distance matters
