I believe that they are obliged to give you advance warning of any D/D payment that they intend to take otherwise you can reclaim it under the banks' D/D indemnity scheme.Telegraph Sam
There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know1 -
Bulb need to get their story straight. I have a bulb smart gas meter that was not commissioned properly and is now a dumb meter. Every advisor is coming up with a different excuse and the latest one is that it was an outage. An outage of what I don’t know. Bulb are knowingly installing meters that will not work.0

This is a great relief due to our financial situation. What great understanding and customer service I assured them once I receive my credit from Bulb it would go straight into my account.0

Following on from my concerns about the time before receiving a final bill/credit back; I was amazed to receive an email today with my final bill only 10 days after my official change over date to Bulb. Maybe that's a record :-). They also stated I would receive my £200 plus credit back by DD within 14 days before closing my DD with them. I'm very happy at this as you can imagine; not having the worry of playing 'catchup' is a big relief of my mind. I had transferred £20 over to Octopus as a starter; they had already agreed to move my first payment towards the end of the month instead of the official start date (wonderful understanding customer service). Also to cap it all: the referral code I gave to receive £50 which I wasn't expecting until the 2nd or 3rd month has gone in already. Very please. Once I get the credit back from Bulb it will be going straight in my account and then I can reduce the monthly payment down. After speaking with the help line for the Warm Home Discount which is now open; They verified it would be Bulb who are responsible for paying me the amount and will probably be by cheque. I do intend to check with them on this as originally they said it would be by DD, but as my DD with them will be terminated by themselves, there is no alternative.
It's a shame but as us savvy MSE folk are: we walk with our feet if they insist on keep putting their prices up.0 -
I've completed my move to Octopus who have sucessfully taken over my Smets 2 meter and got the IHD working. I am surprised that I have also had my final bill and DD refund from Bulb within 7 working days. Pity they couldn't have been that efficient when I was a customer. Poor customer service notwithsatnding I was never going to put up with their price increase and whacking up my DD the same as other MSE folk who have left Bulb.

I have recently left Bulb, we were in a small amount of debt (less than £100) and they wanted to increase my dd from £115 to £151. My monthly average usage was around £100. By upping the DD it made them among one of the most expensive for our actual usage!
I got calls, emails and text messages from them asking me to reconsider. They used to be great but now I'd think twice before using them again."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."
