  • With the possibility of Bulb going out of business as early as next week, now might not be a great time to switch away.

  • With the news that Bulb could be the next to go i need some advice about the Warm home discount.

I am with Bulb and have for a few years had thw WHD but have yet to apply so is it a good idea to apply now in case they do go under or wait to see what happens?

What does happen if you apply then they go under does it get passed on to the new supplyer?

Just not sure what is the best way to go with the WHD.

There is nothing to gain by waiting, apply as soon as you can.

Will get it done with them but i am worried that if they do go under that it will get lost or does all that get sent over to whoever takes over?

If you are in the core group you should still receive it automatically, if you are in the broader group you will have to reapply with your new supplier if there is a supplier of last resort appointed, but… if Bulb fails it is generally assumed that Ofgem will not be able to use the last respiratory process and will have to keep the company in special administration, so you would not actually be changing supplier at all.

Does this new proocedure have a snappy name, like SoLR?
I'd like to suggest Communally Operated Receiver Providing Supplier Energy?

Ofgem got there first with SAR (Special Administrative Regime)

  • That's not too bad, sounds like SARS.

This made me laugh more than it probably should have!

Former Bulb customer here - ditched them at the point where they insisted on inflating our DD cost to massively above the energy use we'd had on average over the past several years - even allowing for increased use during the lockdowns last year/early this year. When even their customer service rep was mystified as to how they were wanting that much money from us when our use suggested far less, we smelled a rat and decided to jump. Clearly it was cashflow related judging from the number of others who've had the same thing, and the news since of their financial issues!

    #me too. Identical.

BULB could not explain to me either.

At the time I suspected their demand for more cash was something to do with their grandiose plan to break into the USA tech market (i.e. nothing to do with energy supply).
