I moved from BULB 6 months ago as they seem to ask more money each month. I am now with AVRO for both Electric & Gas. So far so good and their prices seem to me very fair. You can  also leave at anytime.
Well worth a look I think.
    Gas Standing Charge  18.900 p.d.
    Electric  "          "              "   "     "
    Electric Unit Rate 13.290
    Gas 2.357 pk.
When man sacrifices the Love of POWER for the Power of Love, there will be peace on earth.

Just got my price rise email. Going from just over £96 per month to £114 even though I'm in good credit ! Had emails regularly from Bulb assuring me that my payments were nicely on course to see me through the winter. Going elsewhere.

ANOTHER price increase! I think this is the fifth one in 2 years? Ridiculous. They sell themselves as a company who's price fluctuate accordingly - fluctuate I assume to be up and down, but we've only had one tiny decrease! Our monthly costs have increased from £75 to £92 over the past 2 years.

Just checked and my bulb tariff is
15.780 plus 20.952 SC for electricity
2.92 plus 19.47 SC for gas.
Quick check of Shell Green comes up with
16.074 plus 12.705 SC for electricity
2.690 plus 10.626 SC for gas.
I'm amazed it's such a difference. My maths isn't great but it's the unit price vs the standing charge that makes a difference?

Swings & roundabouts.  What matters is the overall bill total in your case (using your inputs) regardless of how it is made up. And of course your faith in their customer service!

Is that the current tariff or the new tariff? Those look broadly similar to what I currently pay but the electric is going up by 2p/kWh in October which has a further significant effect on the overall bill

It's worth checking separate suppliers.  Dual fuel deals seem to be the worst case scenario nowadays.

Those are all dreadful rates.  But why do it the hard way?  Just enter your annual consumption from actual meter reads (not estimates or projections) into some comparison sites starting with Citizens Advice and 'Switch with Which?'.  Don't forget to check separate suppliers.
