Just got the email about Bulb increasing their overall price so our direct debit needs to go up.
Also got their "Sorry you're leaving" email today with the usual "Please let us know if there's anything we can do to make Bulb better"
Well....duh.....stop with the price increases would be a good start.
When did they say the price increase would begin from? don't they normally need to give 30 days notice or something like that for a price increase?
You can read about it on their blog, all the known details are there https://bulb.co.uk/blog/energy-price-watch-were-changing-our-prices-sept-20

I wasn't impressed at reporting it like this. It's almost like they were hoping people wouldn't notice.

If you're with Bulb and would not consider switching away at all, please could you comment to say why? I'm really interested to know what is motivating people to stay with Bulb and not consider switching.
I am considering switching but the  Helpline is not open to see where I stand with the Warm Home grant until 12th October.  I’m sure I’ve read somewhere the cut off date is around July for receiving it from your existing supplier. I believe if you move supplier after then then your old supplier is obliged to send the money on to you; but this hasn’t always been happening. I don’t want the hassle of chasing up Bulb for money, I was driven to distraction with Scottish a Power when having  large credit amounts when with them.  I don’t particularly want to study with a Bulb over winter, but don’t want to lose the £140 either.

The headline to their email today states: "Your energy prices are changing from 1 October 2020"

2 weeks notice seems very short.

As i understand Ofgem states there should be 'reasonable notice' - not sure if I would consider 2 weeks reasonable.

Especially as you normally have a 2 week cooling off period.

Just checked with my sister-in-law and hers is 18th Oct as well.

That seems like a more reasonable time scale

Well I just copied & pasted what the email to me says. I don't know. Probably another example of their useless customer (lack of) service.
I'm a gonner anyway. No more Bulb for me.
  • Same old story. The only time when this and other dodgy suppliers on this web forum take any notice is when customers vote with their feet - in large numbers. Pity that this forum doesn't get as wide coverage as Trustpilot. But I do think that Martin Lewis & co should give relatively more publicity to "customer service" alongside price than has happened up to when I last did a search myself.
    Telegraph Sam

There are also unknown unknowns - the one's we don't know we don't know
  • Received the email now. That’s quite a hike. I will be voting with my feet and will sort out the The Home discount later.

I'm a relatively lower user - My email says:
"This means your energy will cost about £2.52 more each month.   "
But my payments will be going up £12 a month!
This is because they want me to accrue a surplus for the winter - but my heating is gas so my electricity use
won't actually go up that much.
I hope to move house in the next few months so not sure if a switch before that
would be the best thing to do - I suppose I could take the new supplier with me?
Also  are other suppliers going to increase their prices too soon?
