Bulb Energy Reviews: Give your feedback on the energy supplier

Considering moving to bulb but have read some comments about it being difficult to submit meter readings? Anyone care to share their experiences. Currently with SO energy and generally I'm quite happy with them but Bulb are coming in a lot cheaper.0

Bulb monthly meter readings, in a few days time we will find out if last months difficulties were a blip0

I haven't had any problems submitting meter reads, really straightforward and decent website too0

Thanks to Martin's recommendations, I switched to bulb in January 2018. They also said that I'd be saving £24 per month. Great! However, after three months they wrote and said I'd not been paying enough and needed to pay £110 per month. I wrote and said I couldn't afford it so we left it for another couple of months when I had to up my payment to £70 per month, which is what I'd been paying my previous supplier, with whom I ended up in credit. Not by a lot (couple of quid) but credit all the same.
Yesterday I received an email advising that I was £354.45 in debt with bulb. This has never happened to me before with any other energy supplier. I felt I was unable to leave until I'd cleared the debts but the amounts are increasing and I'll never be able to leave.
I'm on a low income but they declined my application for a warm home discount.
They sent an email to say I could now apply for a Smart meter but when I did I was told there were none available.
I am now stuck in an unbearable poverty cycle where I feel I was initially fooled by bulb into accepting their offer of £49 per month and could have just stayed with my old supplier and been in credit. I'm paying the same to bulb now as I was to them. How on earth the charges have risen so high, I don't understand.
I'm not asking for comments or sympathy or sarcasm, or otherwise as I'm going to write to Ofgem in the first instance.
However, I'd just like to ask people to think very carefully before they switch to bulb. Do NOT pay less than you've been paying elsewhere because after three months the cost is going to increase.
I will never take Martin's advice again and think he should stop endorsing companies. Let us make our own mistakes. Thank you and goodnight. Please note - taken from the Forum Rules and amended for my own personal use (with thanks) : It is up to you to investigate, check, double-check and check yet again before you make any decisions or take any action based on any information you glean from any of my posts. At the end of the day easy way for people to see if they will be paying less is to compare both unit price and standing charge price with current supplier rates
I am saying this generally, we are all adults, we all think we are clever people why cant everyone work things out for themselves isnt rocket science what :money: says and writes and at the end of the day all the advice he gives is for those who seemingly cant think for themselves and for :money:/companies linked to him making a load of money.
For starters those who switch to Bulb via :money:get a lot less sign up reward than those who sign up via other links, I switched to Bulb in January 2019 and got a total of 135.00 in sign up bonuses and guess what I found that out for myself ...:cool:0 -

Out of interest how did you get £135 ? - I know about the £50 referral (which was previously £100), but how about the rest ? - Very interested.
Thanks0 -

Thanks
The other person also got 100 and offered and gave 35 in similar way I have been offering and giving 25 out of my 50
I say this generally when people go by :money:advice and then blame :money:if things dont go to plan, leavin aside :money:often says/advises to keep a wage packet in hand to cover unexpected financial events;)
Most people have heard of confused.com, CTM, etc etc whats so different bar being quicker to do comparing energy putting actual usage into a screen and looking at comparison results, I use energyhelpline.com, in case of Bulb I googled for cashback/incentives and also in same way as yellow pages used to advertise let fingers do walking I let my eyes do the wandering for best signup incentives and for best deals and cashback always.
Has to be said no need to wait for Bulb to send email saying about monthly meter readings each month, they can be entered at any time, electricity bills are easy to calculate and when can determine how much a unit of Gas it is easy to calculate how much Gas used costs, also is possible to increase/decrease Bulb monthly payment within Bulb online console after first monthly payment has been made.
Adults blaming other people for advice given/ when business man is trying to help those who seemingly cant help themselves.:eek:0 -

Signed up to Bulb yesterday. Had a query so contacted them via the online chat. Took an hour to get a reply, but did eventually answer my query.
Phoned them today and they were great, very friendly and helpful.0
