Lesley, it was lovely to see you again. I hope you got the tickets you wanted. We might see if we can get some too. Hopefully we can work it round the Il Divo tickets.

Bonus, we brought ferf and hubby with us.

Yes, that was great you brought ferf and hubby! Was lovely to meet them for the first time, and also both of you again.

We got our tickets for Friday, I hope it's going to be good. :)
  • Anybody out there watch the Rock and roll Vegas marathon? I would love to do this, well more the half marathon as doing a full would take some recovery time and spoil the fun for the rest of my holiday!

Still trying to convince someone to do it with me! As a runner and a Vegas fan can't think of anything better than running down the closed strip at night, would be awesome.

Yes, we watched. We went down to the start line concert, then up to the finish. Two of our friends were running in it. It was unseasonally hot, and they said it was very tough. They both finished outside their planned time and both found it very hard. Might not be so bad if it was normal November weather though.

Curious though, do you need to run with someone? While watching I noticed that people were mainly running alone. Not a criticism, it's an expensive 'race' so I can see why people would want to get 'a time'. I've only done 10k's - five of them and have ran with someone each time. I'm slow though, so it's no big deal.

i'm the opposite, i wouldn't want to run with anyone... I've been a regular parkrunner, and go with friends, but we all do our own thing, even though our times are similar. plus, i have to have earphones in when i run as a distraction, so i wouldn't be much company :D
  • would anyone recommend any of the restaurants around the Bellagio lake, where you can sit outside and see the fountains while dining? I appreciate they'll be pretty pricey, but I'm looking for locations for a "special" meal for our trip next April.

Is it possible to secure an outdoor table, or do you just have to request it (presumably as in-advance as possible) and hope for the best?

Running the planes packed full of economy and heavy means they cannot take off when it gets hot, who knew!

Thanks for your reply. I don't need to run with someone, I've done all my long races on my own just thought with it being Vegas I would like to share the experience. I wouldn't be doing for a time just for fun.
My OH runs but not long distances and he would rather be doing other things in Vegas than a half marathon. I'm trying to convince him it will be fun but he keeps saying it will be too warm and I'm telling him it's a November evening and won't be hot at all! I will not be sharing this info from you about the weather!

Yes I do usually run with headphones but just thought the Vegas sights and sounds would be more fun than my home area of Yorkshire!

Not dined at the Bellagio restaurants but I'm there next April if you fancy a run, we could wear our headphones and not talk to each other!

:D just a silent nod of recognition as we pass by ;)
  • We fly on Sunday. Get very excited, but packing is doing my head in. One minute I am packing for summer, the next I am swapping items for cooler temperatures.
