I think I will take the plunge today, and buy half our dollars.
Already messed up once,by not getting half pre brexit.
Not going to take the chance again with possible interest rate cut.
Can't believe I am actually going to take $1.30 :(

If in a few weeks it has gone up,all well and good.
If it goes down further,I'll wish I had bought it all now....I really hope this isn't the case.

I thought after missing pre-vote, and 1.32 on the day after, that we had seen the back of 1.3 something for quite a while.

I have set myself a low level of $1.28, if it hits that low I will get mine asap but I am still hopeful of an increase, not long now to see. I have £2k to exchange for 5 nights Vegas and 4 nights San Diego early September.

On a separate note our group are looking to do a helicopter night flight over the strip. I have enough points to get a bogof on my Vegas however for a group of 6 are we likely to get a better deal elsewhere, any recommendations? Plenty of other things I can spend the points on

Just be grateful you are planning ahead, at Heathrow Terminal 5 last Saturday the rate on offer was $1.14 ( and 1.02 for Euros) and although I didn't check, I suspect there may have been commission on top of it!

Well just bought £1300 worth at a fraction over $1.30...here's hoping the rest will be at a better rate...but not really expecting it will be.

We don't go until early September..so plenty time for movement either way.

Anyone who is daft enough to wait until the airport for their currency has obviously never heard of MSE.;)

I have bought the full amount. This is the amount we need for the basics - resort fees, food and drink, taxi, and a bit of gambling etc.

I am not hopefully of a better rate for when we go in November, but I am keeping my fingers crossed for a higher rate - mainly in relation to shopping, which normally goes on the credit card.

I understand what you are saying, but it depends on what happens to the $ before his / her holiday.
I have a Santander Zero credit card, so I get 'better' rate.
However, I like to plan and know what things are going to cost.
My view is that the rate will be lower than £1 : $1.3 when we go, so having the card would offer no benefit to me.
This view is the reason I have purchased my $s today.

Discalimer - I know nothing about trading rates etc, and will probably be proven spectacularly wrong over the coming months. However, I now have no stresses regarding the rate, and the higher it goes the cheaper my shopping will become.

    .

I was just thinking of the impracticality of walking around with $2K in my pocket

Lose that and you've lost $2k

Take a credit card and you may lose $100 on exchange rates.

    Know what I'd do
