I was just thinking of the impracticality of walking around with $2K in my pocket

Lose that and you've lost $2k

Take a credit card and you may lose $100 on exchange rates.

    Know what I'd do
I know this is going to make me sound daft, but I have never thought of travel money in that way.

When travelling it will be split 4 ways, 2 hold luggage and then my wife and I will carry 500 each. When we get to the hotel it will be in the safe. whenever we go on holiday we take out what we plan to spend in cash, the credit card is there if we go over our budget (quite often!)

I would never ever put cash in my hold luggage. You are definitely more trusting or braver than I am.

i always take between £5-10K in cash to vegas, would never dream of using a debit or credit card for anything other than hotel bills.

i always carry it through the airport and when i was there a few weeks ago i had just over 10k on me so had to go to a more secure security when i landed as i had to count the money out in front of the agent

On a separate note our group are looking to do a helicopter night flight over the strip. I have enough points to get a bogof on my Vegas however for a group of 6 are we likely to get a better deal elsewhere, any recommendations? Plenty of other things I can spend the points on

I use the clarity card at ATM for my gambling money ,usually, although I did load up a Revolut card as well this year.

I don't see any need to take mega bucks in cash unless you are trying to beat the poor exchange rate

  • In reference to the $, for me the next few days will be very interesting. New cabinet announced, eg Theresa May appoints Boris Johnson as foreign secretary. Not paid much attention in the past, but have become quite interested lately.

Hopefully someone will come along with a nice trip report soon. We had a fair few in quick sucession, but not had one for a while.
