I've bought a night time "open bar" ticket for the High Roller, but I'm thining if it's busy I won't really get near the bar.

    Has anyone done this before?

    hi

i dont think you can class our expeirnce as *night time* but at our recent trip last month we went about 7 15 so early evening so to speak and it wasn't so busy.
In our little pod there was us 2, 3 females and 2 older couples and the bartender. we felt it was good not too many people as you can see ,i felt there was enough room and we got alot of good pics !
The bartender made sure everyone got a drink before i guess other rounds of drinks were had and im sure this would happen when you go.

I have no idea if there is a minimum load or what the maxium load is.

    hope this helps

We have never done the high roller yet.
But keep thinking about doing the open bar.
But with it only being half an hour, any more than 2 drinks would probably seem greedy.:o

We have though got a groupon for the open bar at ameriCAN bar.
Paid $18.75 for 2 and $15 for the other one.
It's an all day bar,so should easily get our money's worth.

I read on vegasmessageboard about someone managing to get legless in that half an hour. They let you do shots as well as drinks. She was taken off in a wheelchair.

Odd people are saying about jet lag, I have never had it in Vegas before but this trip have had it bad. Normally shattered first night here and go to bed soon as possible and maybe up 5-6ish morning Vegas time, and thats it on Vegas time, not this time, went to bed about 11pm first night, wide awake 2am, next night wide awake 3am was 4 am this morning but got back off.
It is quite expensive here at the moment, if these exchange rates continue for a few years think I'll have to vacation elsewhere. I first came here in 2004 and there was so many freebies around then it felt like I was here for free, I remember having a room in The Orleans for $19.95 a night with lots of freebies and an exchange rate of $2 for £1 and no resort fees. Was on the news that tax revenues are down here, the tax revenues they get from casinos are based on winnings, so people are either gambling less or winning less for some reason!
Weather which is free is fabulous at the moment.

I really messed up with this.

We go again in September, and I was going to get half our spends before the vote. But on the day of the vote, the dollar was going up,so I assumed the " clever men" knew it was going to be a remain vote...therefore I left it.
In the middle of the night,I saw the big drop, and knew I had messed up.Tried to buy from a couple of places that night, but wouldn't let me.

Now starting to wish I took the $1.33 on offer right after the result.

Anyway...we are now starting to look at ways to "compensate" for the drops.
As we went in May,we don't want Septembers trip costs to be to high.

Thing is there aren't many ways to save a little.
Hotels are already booked...direct with hotels,so payments for them will be higher than we expected...plus side is we are only stopping at Orleans,MSS and Luxor...so no expensive costs.

We wouldn't change our shopping, shows and eating habits either.

So our way of "compensating" slightly would be the gambling.
As some may know,we never used to gamble when we came on our early visits,as our daughter was only young.
Recent trips we have enjoyed gambling a lot more....but it's not our main reason for coming to Vegas...so I think this is an easy "option" to cut back a bit.
We will still gamble...specially as our daughter is coming this trip, and she is now 21...so she will want to do "grown up things"

But a little less dollar in the machines is a fairly easy way for us to adjust to the drop in the exchange rate without feeling we have had to cut back on anything.

I changed some the week before 'just incase' at 1.42 then woke up the morning of brexit very surprised so got on M&S website at 7am and placed an order at 1.44. Wasn't sure if I would get it but did so was very happy with that.

Funny but I would do the opposite to compensate....less shopping, no shows, little eating but stick with feeding the machines! You never know you might win!:rotfl:
    Gambling issues.....

If you'd have said 'he' I might have thought it was Stuie getting as much bang for his buck as possible!;)

Gambling is not what we started going to Vegas for.

We enjoy the shows...love the shopping...and you've got to eat.
So it's a no brainer, gambling is not an important part of our trip, and quite easy to not do it....in the back of my head every time I stick a $20 in a machine this time,I will think about the lousy exchange rate I got....I will still play the slots....but like I say, easy option for us to compensate for the poor rate.

Its also made easier by the fact that on our trip in May we never got a cent out of any machine for the whole trip.:rotfl:
